lovejessyka4ever- add this region greyscale map to your region folder in my documents/simcity, in a new folder named the same & open the game. once inside, open the region named venice and press control/shift/alt/r. follow the paths to the regions venice.jpg and it will render.

Good Job! I tried to do a map of Venice about a year ago, but it...well...stunk! Where did you get the raw photo or data?

This map looks pretty good--Venice is really hard to re-create. I would just change one thing , however, and that is to tilt the whole map about 45 degrees so that the causeway is horizontal, not diagonal.

Actually there is a map of Venice on STEX. It's listed under its Italian name...Venezia. However, it is not a very realistic one because the height of the land mass is not very condusive to canals and it's really troublesome to reform them..So I'll give yours a shot and let you know how it fares.

To Glenni: Read your history. It was the perfect location to settle when the people of the region were being attacked by the barbarians. Because of its location it became the most powerful seafaring nation/city-state until Napoleon invaded her in the 19th century.

Can't exactly make the real Venice with Sim City but this is a great substitute.

Very nice idea to do Venice. Looks well executed. Would have been nice to actually include a config with the post instead of just pointing to one... Common courtesy and all that.

The configs that I "point to" I also made. It simply seemed redundant. :( ooops, my bad. enjoy!!

I think it's a great looking map!! But, I can't get it to render. I downloaded your config file, but, when I select the jpg, nothing happens. Any suggestions??

stepper, i do not know what your problem is with rendering it. i do know that it has rendered for me and many others. it is only half the size of a "normal" sized region, and the config for it is with fort eternity.

also, once you have navigated your way to the correct place try typing the map name in rather than selecting it- and always add .jpg.

Thanks. The picture is a 24 bit jpg and needed to be converted to 8 bit greyscale to work. Great map.

I do hope i can render this map I have been looking for a map for ages that will suit my caputal city of my NS nation
