SimCity 4 had a huge impact on me. I think it also helped me acquire a career in Building Information Modeling (BIM). I pointed my interviewers to my content for SimCity 4 - and my knowledge of Autodesk products (from modding and building making). Really working hard on your passion will yield results. Is this still active? Do you have a working mod? If so (and Asset Tool works) I can start work on my HK projects for this game (Finally..............) Additionally you said there is room for 6 more Zone Types. I am pretty decent at C# and I will look at the repository or maybe even fork it. I was thinking we can restrict ResidentialLow, ResidentialHigh to 6x6 (use a conditional) and create 2 new Zone Types ResidentialDense, CommercialDense and allow that to open to 8x8 -

http://gamedev.stackexchange.com/questions/66312/quads-vs-triangles Personally I am still learning the UV-unwrap stuff, cause texturing for these models is very very hard compared to SC4. But I will be releasing some buildings pushing 4000. There are many tricks to keep detail while removing polys. So my recommendations; 1 Cull faces not visible by camera, and all 'under' faces.. even if you like to go FPS mode. 2 Replace fence model or balcony model with a texture with alpha channel. 3 Trim excess detail even though this is artistically painful... 4 Examine parts of the model where a surface could be remodel cleaner -

Lemme know when we are able to add buildings. I've been playing Mirror's Edge, its really inspiring because the buildings are texture very basic-like but its rendered beautifully like Simcity2013 I want to get some custom buildings in the game soon.- 627 Replies
