City-building game(s)

  1. I've recently been working on a lot of relots of some of the lots in the Italian Collection by simcity4ever88. While doing this, like already mentioned in the "Show us what you're working on" thread, I discovered a weird graphical issue affecting two props I was dealing with: This issue only appears on zoom level 3. With the encircled building on the right, even only on 2 rotations. @matias93 already told me to replace the damaged FSH with re-scaled images (this is what he said, exactly). Thank you for the answer. I've looked into the files with Reader. The only thing I found was that all the FSH and S3D files look fine in Reader. Only in the LE and in the game they look weird. The only thing I've noticed that looked different was the fact that on zoom level 3 the FSH files were squares, while on zoom levels 2, 4, and 5, they were rectangles, with the height about double the length than the width (on zoom level, the FSH files were again squares, but with additional black empty space to the right and the bottom). Does this mean anything? Any help would be welcome, especially since I actually don't know how to do what matias93 suggested (or do anything else, if necessary). Unfortunately, I'm no graphics expert, I only can do some basics (I can make my own menu icons, and I can use SC4Tool to import PNG as FSH's, but that's it, literally). If you want to look into the affected files on your own: At the top of this post, there's a link to the Italian Collection. The affected files are: Palazzine con negozi 4 45-0x5ad0e817_0x15fb9af0_0x4020000.SC4Model Palazzo con portico di marmo-0x5ad0e817_0x15fb9af0_0x3030000.SC4Model The prop names are the same as the file names.
  2. Fix for: Italian Collection

    Version 1

Description: This plugin fixes a brown box that appears on several growable and ploppable lots that come with the Italian Collection by @simcity4ever88. Technically speaking, this brown box occurs due to a modding error: Some buildings do have an RKT1 property pointing to non-existing graphics. This will cause a brown box to appear. I've fixed it by replacing this RKT1 property by a RKT0 property that Maxis themselves uses, thus, it should not occur anymore. This should not remove any substantial graphics from your lots. I've tested some lots with this new fix and it didn't seem so, at least. Several buildings with the wrong RKT1 property also were named with "blank", thus, I assume that simcity4ever88 intended this RKT1 to point to dummy graphics but made some error in the process. Aside from this graphical fix, I haven't changed any graphics or features. What to do if there are still brown boxes appearing? Please note that this does not necessarily mean that this fix doesn't work. Please consider these points: Make sure you've installed this fix properly (see below). Make sure you've installed the Italian Collection properly. There could still be some other modding errors unnoticed by me. It's entirely possible that you are missing other dependencies - unfortunately, I can't help you with that. simcity4ever88 has mentioned that his Italian Collection has some dependencies, but he didn't mention which ones. Since we are talking about more than 1,000 lots, it's really hard to find out the dependencies. Installation instructions: Move the folder "z_Italian Collection_Fix" into your Plugins folder. Make sure that the file therein loads after all other files that come with the Italian collection or this fix won't work. Short description: A while ago, a collection of Italian-style lots – the so-called Italian Collection, by simcity4ever88 – has been restored by the moderators of Simtropolis Exchange because the files had been stored on an off-site host which is not available anymore. After downloading this collection, I realized that it contains a huge collection (more than 1,000 lots!) of partially really beautiful buildings. Unfortunately, however, some of them are really poorly modded, up to the point that they may freeze SimCity 4 upon scrolling over them in the in-game menu, and, occasionally, the lotting isn’t much better. Therefore, I’ve improved both lotting and modding of some of these buildings. Real life doesn’t allow me to do this on a regular pace, but I’ve had a little time to work on some of the lots. This is a collection of 15 palaces and villas in varying sizes and styles. They are working as civic buildings in the health and education sector. Their values are similar to the values of their Maxis equivalents, only some have deviating values. The only special feature: All of these buildings have a small landmark effect. Available languages: The item descriptions are available in English and German; the item names are in Italian due to being named after famous Italian people. The readmes are in English and German. The game will pick the language on its own. Dependencies: ...unfortunately, quite a bunch, however, some of them are candidates frequently used by me and other creators. The Italian Collection: This plugin contains all building graphics. How to properly install the Italian Collection: It is not recommendable to just put all files coming with this download into your Plugins folder! Firstly, some of the lots do not have got a menu icon, and this may cause SC4 to freeze upon scrolling over these lots in the in-game menu. Second, you may obtain hundreds of lots in your game menu that you cannot (or don’t want to) make use of them; and some of them are growables that you can’t control. Please take yourself time to read these instructions. BSC VIP Girafe Flora Pack: These plugins contain some mayor mode ploppable trees. https://www.sc4evermore.com/index.php/downloads/download/27-sc4d-LEX-legacy-bsc-vip-girafe-flora Historic Harbor: contains a lot of props and lots, but you only need one file: Fence – Iron Small.dat Various prop/texture packages: These just contain props or textures and no lots. This is a collection of 31 chapels and churches in varying sizes and styles. Like many landmarks, they have landmark effect; they also have park effect; both are depending on their lot size. Since the in-game houses of worship do not charge building and monthly cost, these churches are free to plop – however, for the sake of realism, not free of monthly maintenance cost. Available languages: The files are available in English and German; the item names are available in Italian as well. The readmes are in English and German. The game will pick the language on its own.
