You're Hired - NATURAL and SMART Growth - City of Watersauga
cheeseman replied to regionlong's topic in SC4 City Journals
This is pretty nice Keep it up, don't be discouraged by lack of comments, it seems people only like to comment on very pretty bright pictures Figure 3 - Queen Elizabeth Way just immediately west of Downtown Watersauga. As seen here, QEW exist as a road, while suffering from MAJOR traffic delays. The locale is proposed to be REDEVELOPED, replaced by HIGH DENSITY COMMERCIAL, bringing more jobs to the city but more traffic to the already slow QEW. Is this a good idea? About 5,000 additional jobs would be brought here Do it and upgrade routes later like they would IRL tbh -

Lol yea, and how US 40 in town turns into a random viaduct for about a mile ... the ramps at Caton avenue and 95 are rediculously long cuz thats where 70 should have came in Wabash in the west side is 6 lanes because it was meant to be the extension of 795 into town. 83 was meant to hit 95 where MLK and 395 do, and MLK is actually interstate grade as well (had they finished it). If only they had finished these maybe, just maybe it wouldnt take 2 hrs to drive 20 miles in rush hour
-
I dont have it either, but in my hometown of Baltimore, MD theres quite a few abandoned ramps off of i-95 and i-70
-
this is pretty amazing though, guess we will see if the other drivers on the road can adapt to the moving tunnel bus-train thing (wtf is this thing a bus? train? both?) anyway, good job china for finally thinking out of the box

pretty nice, but the coolest thing in this thread is that lil globe that shows my house tbh

I really enjoy the use of the NWM and your thought when planning the transportation and also the zoning in your city, keep it up :) -
When Sam Walton approached the Aomori city council about opening a new walmart inside town limits, the council was reluctant due to the increased traffic and air pollution given the close proximity to a good chunk of the country's food supply. After many months of debates, votes and ideas being thrown around, it was finally decided that the city council would allow the new Wal-Mart to be built, so long as Walton provided free housing, medical care and schooling to his future employees. This is the result after many years of construction, and now the new Wal-Mart is officially open edit: im still working on finding a hospital that I like for this area, but even with the standard maxis clinic I think it looks pretty good

also, if you are using the CAM they made the desirability threshold higher, so it needs more desirability to grow, try placing more parks or landmarks and see if that helps

GLR-to-Subway transition issues
cheeseman replied to littlefriend420's topic in SC4 - Custom Content
yea same thing here, i think its a re-pathed version of the rail one that didnt get retextured -
also, with the new NAM, intersections and the two tiles before intersections become more congested than normal networks
-
yea i really dont like the way the game decides to texture sidewalks dependent on wealth and density, if even it would take an average over like 5 wealth over 5 tiles or something and then draw the sidewalk to that wealth instead of changing it every tile it would be awesome, but thats a game limitation not much we can do about it. I just use the same sidewalk texture everywhere so it doesnt do things like this

altho all the pics are good, io_bg really makes me mad sometimes that my cities never look half as good as his, excellent work as always, you have too much free time my friend ;p
-
i have NEVER seen that texture issue before. these problems are very severe and I understand you being frustrated, but ive never seen problems this bad before and I use a LOT of custom content i wonder, are you missing texture packs or something?

Problem with using car and passager ferry with new NAM...
cheeseman replied to m gaby's topic in NAM & Transit Networks
Im also having the problem, but thank you NAM guys for acknowledging the problem and also for your hard work with the NAM. SC4 is definitely a much better game because of you guys. ill keep my eyes open for the patch -
I really think new york is over-rated, its not that great, huge population yes, but definitly over-rated
-
the only problem is the coastline, you can see it on the bottom left, gotta smooth it out
-
io_bg your starting to piss me off with all these pictures, if only my cities looked half as good I would be happy

they are all good, but t wrecks and selles in particular blows me away ... i love rural development been working on this one for a few hours, eventually the entirety of the eaton region (on the STEX, pretty large) will be covered in farms and urbanity, my plan is to follow a "natural" growth kind of strategy but not quite, i want to start everything as farms and build up as i go. evenn the 'big' town in the middle started as nothing but farms and a few houses, soon this will be a downtown area. Its at 19k people now and the traffic and pollution of this town are pretty bad already, due to unplanned roads and no public transit yet. Ive never built like this so its a little difficult for me, but I like the way it looks so far, at least from region view. Also the farms will get more scarce and follow only the main "highways" (really streets for now) instead of being completely covered once you get farther from the towns, but i havent made it very far out yet, still needs a lot of work. Theres actually as many farming jobs as there is R$ people, and max demand for both, no education as of yet but some highwealth has moved in, i think due to the BSC farm rewards employing a few R$$$ citizens
