Help me grow my city

thank you!:) it is really fun playing the game with the BATs/mods/plugins found here and on LEX. all 1478 of them^^ and getting some feedback for a game that is to be played in relative solitude (the odd forum posting aside) is very motivating. you guys are so advanced players and some of you have such a good grasp of traffic systems and zoning/city planning...i just learn a lot by reading through the forums. again, love hearing you liked the implementation. if there is interest i could start a whole region and go with you guys' proposals. i am a TOTAL NOOB in regards to NAM (especially the new avenues and tram stuff...but i can learn^^). and yes, love that torus water tower. -

@Cyclone Boom, @T Wrecks, @jeffryfisher... i tried to implement your ideas. attached is the once empty north of the city. i built a harbour and all those retail boxes, casinos, shady joints, what have you. also built a highway/avenue/train-system that's more or less encompassing the entire city by now. pop up to 150.000, city in the midst of a crippling recession (think pre-reaganomics (headcanon date: 1979) (avert your eyes of the pruitt igoe montrosity in the bottom middle....city planners were sacked, i tells ya). -
stunning like the rest of your lots. now i started reading more about Medellin and got stuck with its "library parks" (rejuvenating slums with education buildings and parks); and the sad tale of the Biblioteca de España (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biblioteca_de_España_(Medellín)) which was a huge success in neighborhood renovation and is apparently closing now? https://thebogotapost.com/medellins-doomed-library-the-indefinite-closure-of-biblioteca-espana/32435/) thanks for giving us so many latin american buildings.

thank you..i consider this an act of good forum parenting -
Hey forum folks, my newest city, Stockton, needs some thorough planning in order to sucessfully expand. It's 72.000 sims, playing on the lovely EUREKA map, so there is room to expand to the north and east (started in the left bottom corner of the region). So far all runs well, slight deficit. there is still a LOT of room to the north to expand, but i want to keep my city realistic (well, halfway, realistically the city would have been founded along the coast as a port,...nevermind)...mid size, think Southhampton, Kiel, Atlantic City, the likes. I attached a map for you to see the general outline: YELLOW: rail (connects to all other tiles except north); PURPLE: major avenues and approved extension(no connection to other tiles so far, that is all done by 4 arterial roads (more or less forming a cross around the CBD in all directions except north); ORANGE: planned rail extension; RED: planned second industry zoning (but open for anything, really) and planned avenue extension; GREEN: already certain about these areas; GREY: where do i put my harbour? Farms form a ring around the west and east, and i wanted to keep at least SOME of them (develepment nibbling them away ever so slowly already). all input is appreciated; trying to develop my city as realistic as possible. hope this is fun for you..:) have a nice weekend, y'all.

Horse. A dual-city, encompassing two formerly independent communities, Horse and Shallburg. With the extension of the national highway system into the valley, the twin-cities emerged from their slumber and entered solid growth for nearly half a century. now boasting 200,000+ inhabitants, the area faces the challenges that came with fast growth: chaotic street layouts in dire need of upgrades, inefficient public transportation, a public sector that was planned for 50,000 facing collapse. can Horse manage the transformation or will its problems suffocate the city? -
everytime i doubt whether i wanna keep playing sc4 i come back here, look at some korver albums and BANG...motivation spiking again. building a realistic city is time-consuming and sometimes just..work. but seeing these pictures (even though they are a bit doctored..;)) gets me so hyped up...really amazing work..:)

Schwelm, early October 1987. Soviet premier Juri Garosprow has followed an invitation of President Hooper to open a new round of disarmament talks in the neutral owotanian port city. Its streets awash with international correspondents, staff personal, policemen and the odd spy, the 'Big Turnip' buzzes with life. An autumn storm drowned the city with considerable quantities of water just minutes ago. Now, the dreary clouds parting and the sun basking the glittering asphalt in a wet, silvery light, the city falls silent, and be it only for a minute. Peace in our time, a young newswriter muses as he wrings out his soaked fedora. Peace in our time. -
nice idea. here's my harbor city of Schwelm. Nestled on an elongated headland against the unpredictable waters of Hadmond's Bay. New Years Eve fell on a particulary snowy day this time. Countless fender benders, for sure.

greetings everyone, attached is an overview of a subfolder i created in my plugins, called it "mods" and it's where i store the "big" mods (lights, terrain, weather, the likes). question: how do i set the right loading priority? i know that the folder with the most z's in front will load last...but which of the mods is the one that SHOULD load last? terrain? weather? lights? insight is very much appreciated.- 62 Replies
