  1. The Berlin Region

Thanks for all the comments! I've been very busy for the past few days so I haven't been able to get an update ready. Finally, here's the last chapter of this saga. Chapter 3 - Spandau: Moving Forward Now that Spandau is back on its feet it's time to continue on with developing. It's the year 123. Spandau's population peaked at 15 000. The EL and trains were used at all time highs with 7000 the people using the EL, subway or train to commute to work and a mere 2000 using the car or bus. New and odd sights have and will be seen in the next decades like this: But there was one major setback: Spandau was intended to be a small town of a couple thousand not Berlin's second largest city. Certain road intersections had to be altered. The following one had a very awkward design and was notorious for major vehicle crashes. City hall was going to build the very first overpass in Berlin (remember, Spandau is a very forward-thinking city). Three proposals were presented with the pros and the cons. Cost: 1500$ Construction Time: 70-80 days Pros: relatively simple and inexpensive Cons: destroys too many homes; very sharp turns Cost: 2000-2400$ Construction Time: 100-120 days Pros: nice long bridge; no complicated intersections Cons: destroys too many structures including Lombard Place; expensive; long construction time; population and money drop Cost: 1200-1300$ Construction Time: 60 days Pros: destroys no stuctures; short construction time; inexpensive; looks nice Cons: obligation to close down a major route; complicated bridge design City concil voted on this matter and the results: two votes for proposal 1; one vote for proposal 2; four votes for proposal 3. Personally I would have liked proposal 1. Here's a picture of the finished project. Here's Spandau looking west, one year after the Main Street overpass project was finalised. Remember the trees that were planted about five years ago? City hall planted an additional 243 trees next to the industrial railway lines with another 200 expected to be planted in the future. Here's how the planting party turned out. You can tell the older trees from the newer ones. City Hall continued to expand the distant industries by zoning more high density industrial. This area provides over 4000 jobs to Spandau and Konradshohe. (sorry about the greenish glow) Spandau continued to grow and in the year 144 it received hi-rise status. Hyde Condos became the first hi-rise building in the city standing at 14 stories (42 meters). Many smaller medium rise commercial buildings soon followed. Here's Spandau looking east in the year 146. From way up above the ISS took a night photo of Spandau and sent it to the mayor. The brightest town I've ever seen said an astronaut. The first transportation map of Berlin Coming Up Next: Konradshohe, City of Steal Your Feedback: What overpass proposal did you like best? How would you rate Spandau on a scale of one to ten? Anything in particular you'd like to know about Spandau?

    First comment! Great work!
  3. fun screen shots

Those are definately bugs because when I reloaded the city, those objects weren't on the road anymore.
  4. fun screen shots

I should seriously consider buying some street cleaners... or better yet some secure freight trucks! I could understand loosing a small cardboard box but a container?!?! I hope those oil barrels aren't too flammable.
  5. I've got a question about the music. Unfortunately, I cannot use SimMars because I have a mac. Is there any website where I can download the soundtrack? I've already downloaded Tech Harvest (which is very well done) from www.simmars.net but are there any other music pieces available for download?

  13. Post Modding Requests Here

I have a mac at home so unfortunately, I cannot mod (I would if I could though). Is it possible to have a mod that extends the length of your trains? I know the NAM does this, but the file also changes a whole lot of other things I do not want changed. If so, I want the freight trains to have a minimum of ten cars and a maximum of 30. I want the passenger trains to have a minimum of five cars and a maximum of 20. If anyone decides to do this, please post here or PM me. Thanks!
  14. NAM General Discussion Thread

I just need to take a moment to congratulate all the users who worked on the NAM. I downloaded it a few days ago and I just tried it out. The extra puzzle pieces are great and I love the monorail overpass! I can't wait until there's another version out! Great work guys!

This CJ is absolutely incredible! You must have put in a whole lot of effort! Great work!
  19. New Brunswick------ Metropolitan

I think that you should use the other two tilesets as well, since your skyline could use a little variety. Nevertheless, good job!
  20. Playboy Mansion

Okay, so the lot itself doesn't deal directly with porn, but the concept is all about it. I have nothing against having the dance clubs, (I even downloaded them), but this is too many. These lots will be inspiring younger BATers and maybe one day, the STEX will be overloaded with these.
  21. Playboy Mansion

Damn it folks! Don't you realize that this is his FIFTH lot that deals with porn? One or two is okay, but after a while it gets tiresome. Also, this lot is exactly the same as the Mayors' Seaside Villa, except for a colour change. If he NEEDED to make this, couldn't it have been different?
  22. Playboy Mansion

I'd have to agree with Deepstrike and the others. The BAT itself is great but the concept is just disgusting. I have nothing wrong with talking about sex but pornography is just wrong. First it was the dance clubs, then the escort service and now the playboy mansion! Come on SG!

Lightning War: LOL yeah it doesn't really make sense. Spandau never went in debt, but they had a deficit during the time of crisis. They were losing nearly 2000$ a month! Chapter 2 - Spandau: Can It Come Back to Life? Three city councillors thought so. They were the only ones left governing the city. With the remaining money in the coffers they did a few simple actions that changed Spandau for the better. To begin, they expanded the transportation system. They added an additional 1500 meters of EL track and another 600 meters of railway track. They also invented a handy device that allowed the transition of elevated rail to ground rail. To they're surprise, when the additions was completed, the population of Spandau rose from 2800 to 4500 in about ten months. This also attracted people from the hi-tech industrie and high-wealth citizens. But this was just one simple step. The next task that was executed: planting new trees to replace the burnt down ones. With close to 400 volunteers helping out plant the trees, the cost of the project and the air pollution was greatly lowered. A total of 117 trees were planted. However the new vegetation added about 200$ extra in monthly expenses. This partially filled in a hole in the scenery and unfortunately caused some minor problems to the few trains that passed by. The population of Spandau rose once more from 4500 to 6300 in about eleven months. The finishing step was when the new mayor zoned some medium density industrial and expanded the industrialised area. At the begining there was low demand but eventually it filled up completely. This action brought in thousands of workers from other parts of Berlin. It also boosted up the economy of the small city to such an extent that the population jumped from 6300 to 13 900 in a matter of two months. Even a large medium rise building was erected to supply this influx of people. Spandau resembled nothing like what it was nearly two years ago. This was thanks to a few determined city councillors and a lot of spirit. Coming Up Next: Spandau: Moving Forward

Gamefreak, honestly watch your comments please. Its his first BAT and I don't see you releasing any lots on the STEX. Give the guy some credit. Bien fait et je vais l'essayer!
