This is looking really good! Being able to control funding more carefully will be very handy. I did notice a typo in the above screenshots though: "Effiecncy Change vs Prior Year" -
Crop circles were definitely included! If you ever managed to have farms develop (which was pretty tricky) and then have the UFO disaster, you'd get crop circles appear in some fields. No idea about the others though. I think the visitation/abductions might be news ticker messages that come before a disaster? If I remember right you'd get subtle warnings about any random disaster that was going to happen.

From the bottom of this post, it looks like at some point they had land bridges in-game, though the road couldn't go under it. And there's a diagram there planning diagonal bridges. It's a pity they couldn't manage to have them in the final game. -
3) Beware the eternal commuter bug when messing with regional transport - when there are 3 connected cities neighbouring each other, what can happen is that commuters go all the way around into their original city... and keep going. Each time they loop, it increases the number of commuters that the game thinks are there. It's because the game doesn't simulate traffic in other cities, so it doesn't know that traffic goes back where it started.

I've notcied a lot of cities uploaded, and people instantly yell angrily that these people should read the rules - but I've looked quite a bit and there's no obvious link to them. Perhaps it would save a lot of trouble if there was a clear link to the STEX rules, maybe on the upload page... Hang on, sorry, there is a list of rules on the upload page; however cities not being allowed is not mentioned. Neither is the requirement for a representative image, or the 10mb size limit. If these were actually mentioned, I imagine people wouldn't keep breaking them. EDIT: Ah, they're in the omnibus, where people who are new wouldn't think to look. I didn't, and I've been lurking for years.

I just think a link to that Omnibus article in the STEX sidebar could be helpful. Finding the rules should be an easy thing.

If I remember right, there are problems with having double-decker networks of the same kind of traffic, as the traffic can randomly jump from one level to the other.

Yes, they are functional. You need to download some stations or use the GLR to El-rail connector, as no stations are included in the NAM. I'd reccomend the Road-Top Mass Transit pack, which includes tansit stations that go on top of networks, including Tram-in-avenue.

Bob really likes the RTMT Construction lot! I mean, the lot's very nice and everything, but out of all the buildings, he wants to see that?

OK, I searched first and found nothing, but I wasn't really sure what to search for. Sorry if this is already covered. In Simcity Rush Hour (I think fully patched), Windows XP, I get these funny raggedy holes in particle effects: smoke and waves. Screenshot Graphics card is an ATI Radeon HD3850, with the most recent drivers. CPU is Intel Core 2 Duo E4500 (Dual core, 2.2GHz) 2GB RAM Plugins folder is under 100MB. I'd imagine this is graphics card related, but I have no idea what exactly it is. The settings at the time of screenshot are all on full, though reducing them has no effect. Ah, also probably useful is that this has only happened after I upgraded my PC. I'd be very greatful for any help on the matter, as it's pretty offputting. ~Eskiman

Roundabout Avenue->Groundhway Interchange

I've actually managed something like this, using NAM pieces. It's tricky though. Where you want the roads to lead down to join the highway, change it to avenue for one tile. It doesn't look so good, but it functions. Also, the roundabout will end-up pretty square, unless you have the highway go underground under it. -

Wow. I'd thought this was dying, and now Beta 2 is coming this month! My logical response is 'Whoo!'. Hopefully it'll run a bit better for me than B1. I think I've had a PC upgrade since then. -

Hmmm. I must say I'm tempted to go back to Maxis farms myself. Again, your attention to detail is astonishing. I never have the ability or the eye for putting in side-paths and things. I'm always really inspired to do more rural communities - it's a pity I always look at CJs this late into the evening! ~Eskiman

6x6 has been tested and found to be the 'magic' grid size. However, I don't tend to grid at all. I prefer the look of more 'organic' cities. Something I've been meaning to try is to build two main cities, set a highway between them, and build cities at various points along it.

Wow! I'm really impressed at how you're doing this like a real city, which is something I've never really been able to do. I'm going to have to do more on Simcity some time, though probably after my exams. I'll have to have a proper go with the GLR, too. ~Eskiman

Firstly, just because something happens in real life, does not mean that it must feature in Simcity. I see no originality in this lot, and though 1x1 graveyards could be useful, multiple lots enabling a larger custom graveyard would be better. There are no paths, wall, or plants anywhere. And I do feel that you've really annoyed people by mentioning male prostitutes. You'd have done a lot better even to not have mentioned the two people.
