Those buildings look really great, You can never have too many of those everyday building in Your city!
  3. A very nice bat of a very nice building! I see that You have really worked hard to get it all realistic, including the exact modeling of the roof junk! The model is really good but You need to work more with the textures. As pointed out, the roof is too bright and You could lower the intensity of the night light windows to about 0,5-0,6. I think that You should make a gradient on the facade bricks (see gascookers tutorial). Bricks are too small to show up in the render but it will work fine if You overexaggerate the brick pattern a bit so it becomes visible. Many buildings in the game are made like that. The windows could also need some more work, they should be placed a bit into the openings. Now it looks a little like that the windows are glued outside the walls. Very good job, You are on the way to create a masterpiece

    Just fantastic!

Yet another great xannepan building! Thank You for all the effort!
  6. Cadott Bay

A truly amazing CJ! The scenery is one of the best that I have seen and the harbour is really impressive as well!!
  7. BAT Help - Texturing Issues

Odainsaker, first I would like to compliment You for a fantastic model! Now on to the textures. In my experience, BAT messes up textures when it has two or more bitmaps where the same first eight digits in the file name are the same. This might very likely happen if You test-and-improve textures and end up with files in Your texture folder like nicewall.jpg, nicewalllighter.jpg, nicewallighterfixed.jpg etc. If You are old enough You might remember the times before Windows 98 came out, when file names could only be eight digits long (plus the three-digit extension). I think that GMAX incorporates some old code (stealing is the programers best friend :-) that not uses more than eight digits of the file name, thus confuses the program and greys out the textures.

  9. BAT Help - Lighting

If You are making your signs as props, they will not light up from some of the views (the four views N,S,E,W). It is a well-known issue. I think there are workarouds, search the forums for advice. I cant be more specific than that, I have never made a prop myself...

Those buildings are really done with a lot of creativity and talent! Keep up the good work!
  11. Sim Skate Arena

Looks really good. This building fits nicely in my euro cities!
  12. Wagner Hotel

Looks very good but it is a little thin, hotels usually are quite "fat" with at least 16 meters wide floors. The H-plan would have fitted better on a 3x3-lot. But it is a 10 anyways!
  13. Mary Hotel

This building looks really fantastic! Our cities need more of those everyday-looking buildings to look realistic. The green roof could have been a little steeper though.
  14. Newbie BATter seeks feedback on first creation

I really like those buildings, very well done for a beginner! I also thinkt that this is the right way to start batting, with a moderately sized and familiar building. There have been numerous posts here like I have started building Woolworth Building/London
  15. Phillippbos Tutorial Help and Feedback

hyped_up_boy, The installer made a *shortcut* on Your desktop to the program. Use this shortcut to start the program, do not start the program by itself. Hope this works.

Wow, I have flashing stars!! Thanks a 1000 times to all people who have voted!
  17. Kings Reach Tower

Looks good and realistic, great job!
  18. BAT Help - Texturing Issues

DJ skynet, try to change the width of the roof material. If textures are too detailed, they will create such graphical errors at low-resolution renders. Very nice building btw!!
  19. kleine Mietshaeuser Pack

    Looks great, realistic!
  20. Cast Iron Lofts BSC

I really like those ones. Just the kind of buildings we need more of. They will kill the ugly botique with blue roof I guess!
  21. Glenni's BAT showcase

You should add light to the signs(?) (art??) on the walls. Like on my shut up sign, You remember...
  22. BAT Help - Modelling Issues

SC4BOY, I guess Your problem is Viewport lighting. Choose Customize -> viewport configuration, then in the dialogue box check default lighting and push the radio button 2 lights.
  23. BAT Help - Texturing Issues

muzz, my guess is that it is 99% likely a handlig error. Please provide a screenshot set up like this: Object selected, UVW map rollout rolled out and material editor open frndofyaweh, UVW is really the keystone in texturing. See Phillippbos tutorial, chapter 6. https://www.simtropolis.com/tutorials/Essential_Bat/index.cfm?page=texturing.htm
  24. Could I get a opinion on my project,

OK now it feels safe to ride the elevator Structurally, I think that this kind of structure would be fully possible to erect without major difficulties. However it would need some kind of cross-bracing in the facades to be stable. There are many ways to do this, Beijing Olympic Games stadium: http://www.hughpearman.com/articles5/weiwei4.html Swiss RE tower, London http://www.hughpearman.com/articles5/weiwei4.html for example, think of this when You design the facades and it will be a prize-winning skyscraper!
  25. BAT Help - Texturing Issues

Hmm what kind of UVW map do You use? Is the UVW really turned on? Is it something wrong with the bitmap file (i e did You test different ones). Are the renders just as bad too? If You do not get a grip on it, please post a screenie where we can see the UWV mapping settings and the material editor. Honestly, not much help for us to just see a box in four angles...
