health Leaving this town full of death!
Servan replied to Vanguardtruth's topic in SimCity (2013) Technical Help Q&A
I've been fighting it too, even with the big hospital and almost all the extension buildings my sims still complain about health issues. The ambulances don't seem to be going out. -
Ground pollution and sewage
Servan replied to Districtopia's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Road density also affects how much sewage can flow along it. Dirt roads seem to create more ground pollution with sewage. I had a single low density road leading to my treatment plant and it got backed up (65k pop), I got warning about clogged pipes, upgraded to med density and that solved the problem. Seems road density also affects power and water travel too. Higher density = bigger pipes. -
Getting regional students to my university
Servan replied to Hybr1d's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
I'm was getting plenty commuting to my university. Have lots regional buses and lots of traffic flowing in bringing students. I don't remember how many I was getting, I'd get a number but just recently had my university destroyed by an earthquake. Anyway, rebuilding with a rail line and station nearby, i'll see if that helps bring people in. My other city is a mining/drilling town with only an elementary school. -
It's down to about $40 on Amazon now. My plan of waiting a month for fixes and a price drop really paid off.

Everyone seems to be overlooking the multiplayer aspect, that's the thing that will increase difficulty and make things much more interesting. You can specialize your city and micromanage to keep that specialization going to help others in the region. That's something we didn't see in beta, which is odd since it is basically the primary aspect of the game. I think it will be a lot more in depth.

SimCity Beta Review from a lifelong SimCity player
Servan replied to landstander248's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Now this is a very nicely detailed review, thanks! -
The only reason CitiesXL failed, and why you should care, including Maxis and there Master EA
Servan replied to sobbles4000's topic in Cities XXL
CXL was bad performing right out of the box, and they didn't keep up to fix the bugs and have a good product. Maxis/EA are much better on that front, they've done a great job keeping the Sims series going and supporting it. They have far more experience and far more resources. -
They are probably not just testing capacity and network load, but also authentication, perhaps different methods to see which are more efficient.

SimCity 2013 Beta: the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
Servan replied to lopes8070's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
The thing is the beta is a bit locked down, you don't have the full flexibility, nor the time to really get into things. But thanks for the review. -

I have been trying all day to find or win a beta code. Got close a few times, timing is everything. I don't like pre-ordering, but the Amazon deal is tempting. Think I'll just wait and see if I get emailed a code tomorrow morning.

Love that spin around, really gives you a sense of the size of the city. -
Discussion about Always-On Connection to Origin
Servan replied to neurokirurgi's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
From what I understand, you can have a private region, cut off from global influence, and can have that as a sandbox mode. But you cannot have sandbox and multi-player, that would be insane. Now, as far as having that private sandbox region offline, it doesn't sound like it. -
Nice farms, getting lots of good ideas!

I've been getting started with FSX. Love the missions and I'm learning a lot. Also joining a virtual airline.

What frustrates you about sim city 4
Servan replied to Pasta-power's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Crashing to desktop. Will check into the processor usage like City2themax suggests. Loading times. About 5+ minutes for a city of 100k+. This on a system with a clean Win 7 install, 2gb RAM and 256mb graphics card. The complaint of traffic jams with the NAM simulation of red-lights at intersections. Abandonment, for whatever reason, it's annoying and ugly. -
Well that looks interesting, all ground level. Well good luck. That's quite a network they have in the area with the interchange to the east and the south too.

any tutorial on how to build ports
Servan replied to kimiraikko's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Pegasus has some great ports/marinas/coastal lots. He has them here as well as his site http://simpeg.com/forum/index.php along with many tutorials and tips.
