Wybs: Is this within GMAX or at the rendering stage? If it's within GMAX, try right-clicking the word 'Perspective' in the viewpoint and going to Viewport Configuration, then select the Default Lighting and 2 Lights option. If this doesn't help or if the textures are showing too dark to see properly at the rendering stage then go into the texture editor and increase the 'self illumination' value, this will make the texture lighter. But make sure you change it back to 0 before final export of the building otherwise your texture will be lit up at night!

Lightguy: There are various options such as setting up spotlights that illuminate just the text in the required colour but I've found the most effective way of doing illuminated signage is to use the 'self illuminating' value in the texture editor window, set it to 100 and anything with that texture applied will be lit up in the dark. Obviously you will need to create a red and a green texture, both with self-illumination.

BAT Help - LODs And Miscellaneous BAT Problems
GaryReggae replied to fosterk's topic in SC4 BAT & Lot Workshop
Good question, I've always wondered what the 'Budget' in the polygon counter was all about. -
Looks good although I still think this looks more like a hotel than an apartment block!

I like that college, good work!

Looks like the spline you've tried to apply that texture to is somehow not 'flat'. Try deleting the spline and recreating it, I've had a similiar thing happen.

That is extremely useful EQ! I really could have done with such a guide when I started BATting but there was nothing really. Fantastic work!

Looking good, my only comment would be the protruding glass stairwell at the front, the framework is a different colour on each part but it should be the same colour.

Highbury Stadium (Arsenal Football Club)
GaryReggae replied to Franz Ferdinand's topic in SC4 BAT & Lot Workshop
Franz, that is an absolute MASTERPIECE!!! It's beautiful and I'm glad you've done a BAT of this as the real thing won't be around for much longer. With regards your missing textures and objects, try adding a UVW Map modifier to the objects, some objects don't show without this. Textures do occasionally go missing during rendering, try reloading each one and then render (there is a 'reload bitmap' button in the texture map screen). The textures you've used look great on the whole. It looks like the brick texture at the ground floor level of the East Stand hasn't worked plus all the roof textures except for the North Bank have gone. Also, the white front of the East Stand probably needs a very subtle stucco texture, try this: https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//GAZ_PS_White%20Stucco.jpg align=baseline> Other than that, it's fantastic, keep up the good work. I can't wait to see this on the STEX! -

Date: 4/10/2005 9:14:46 PM Author: gordy Hey, just some suggestions. no skyscrapers lol 1) typical poor british council tenement(the ones often seen in cities quote> Have a look at my 'Southampton Tower Block Set', I have created several variations of low wealth council tenement tower blocks. Click on 'View My BAT Projects' in my sig and they should be top of the list.

Looks good, I like the Spar branding but I really think the slanted bricks need straightening. To do this, follow the steps below: 1. Click on the shape which has the slanted brick texture 2. Add a UVW Map modifier 3. Click the + next to UVW map and click on Gizmo. 4. Use the 'rotate' tool to rotate the UVW map until it's straight.

I've got a question now! Is there any way of getting models to display smoothly in GMAX? I attach as an example the following screenshot of the Perspective view. Texture Correction is on for this viewport but it really doesn't look very good, it's far too jagged and the shapes are all merging into each other. Is there any way of getting GMAX to display models smoothly in the perspective view? https://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//gmax_bad_view.jpg align=baseline>

Try uninstalling GMAX and reinstalling it? I'm not sure what else to suggest.

This looks really good Kefka, you're really got a very good mastery of that architectural style.

Looks good, very contemporary! It reminds me of a Travel Inn by Southampton Airport railway station. The sky glass texture in the main lobby doesn't look quite right, I would suggest something a bit darker.

Nice one! I see what you mean about the roof being inspired by Clarence Pier! Grab the 4 edge corners of the roof and drag them upwards a bit to make it more prominent. It's strange but that style of roof seems to have came back into fashion!
-
Wow, that's a huge tower! What is it? I like the design of the roof area though, very 'Modernist'!

Yeah looks much better now it has the glass although if I remember rightly the glass is actually a yucky tinted brown colour.
