  1. Beta 2 Gameplay Video

Why did citizents cry about not having power just after you built the wind-mills? They had employers, they produced energy, what was missing? Power lines?
  2. Anyone know this game?

I won't say I saw this before simcity 4 released but I definitely saw this picture years before Simcity SOCIETIES came out. This picture is so fake it's not even amusing.
  3. Hi. It's been long since I've last played SC4. Its still sadly the only thing that would cut it for me. CXL works too slow, Cryengine 3 requires millions of hours of work to get anything proper. So I've installed SC4:deluxe again, the problem is, time is a bit limited and my plugin folder is empty. SO I was thinking if anyone of you would be so helpful, to put his folder on some filesharing site to share it with me. I would be really happy if your plugin folder has the essentials, such as Network addon mod and on-road-bus stations. The folder doesn't have to be enormous! Under 2 GB would be necessary, to work OK on my PC. Thanks for reading, I hope someone voluenteers. Thank you very much
  4. If you get Windows 8, you will be able to play run any DVD, only when you get a film od DVD, you will need a special program like VLC or simillar to play it. Seriously, who has ever used a WMP since 2002? No sane person. This changes absolutely nothing. And it's not really a wise idea to waste your money on apple computers. Yes, they are better in quite a few areas, but those advantages translate to them being 50-100$ more expensive.. not 1000$.
  5. there is no singleplayer first of all, so global market will affect you no matter what. So yeah, I can feel your frustration. I'm not buying this game anyway, because of tile sizes, origin and all other sort of things that this game brings from hell, so I'm not even bothered anymore with constant bad news. I won't buy it and that's it. And I sincerely hope others do it aswell.
  6. Can I run SimCity5

Alternatively, if you really would love to play this game and you have no other option, you could buy an external graphics card. You should realise, that this has a serious connection bottleneck, but you will definitely be able to play. I've heard about them. Don't know how available they are. You can try searching for one, yah Edit: a picture to demonstrate, I don't know if your laptop PSU could handle a big-ass graphics card. Maybe it comes combined with it or you would need an additional PSU, which would start to make things really messy . You should definitely inform yourself on the internet as much as possible about external graphics cards, before buying anything and then realising it doesn't work/(that good)
  7. SimCity Will Be On Steam...

As long as simcity will in Steam we should be ok
  8. Well don't worry one bit! Putting a graphics card in your PC is (at least to me) even easier than building lego structures as I was a kid. Assuming that you have a sufficient PSU, the only question remains: How much are you able to cough up for one? If you aren't particularly easy with money, you can get yourself a nice HD 7750 for less than 100$. If you can be able to give 50-60$ more, you can get yourself a quite more powerful HD 7770, 2GB or GTX 650 2GB if you like the green team more. My personal suggestion is, that if I understood you correctly, you would only play Simcity 13 and no other games, so at least from my perspective, there is no need to buy anything more expensive than that HD 7750. It will be really enough just for that game. And please, if your computer is still in good state, has an i5 processor and enough RAM, for goodness sake, don't buy a new one. Paired with a decent graphics card as the ones I mentioned you in this post (or better), I see no reason this computer would need a replacement, unless there comes a hardware malfunction or some other thing.
  9. We really don't think in terms of "tiles" anymore, so I can't give you a good size analogy. The lollipop bus stops occupy "street lots", that is, they don't take up the space a house could use, but instead are in front of buildings. It's something that had always bothered me in previous SCs... At the moment, they only go in the middle of avenues w/ light rail tracks or own their own light rail tracks, not on roads; thanks for the suggestion though. That's nice to hear. Will the game offer subways, or any other form of transportation that you haven't mentioned? I take it that rail network also works for industry right? It would be a major kick, if you decided to put freight railways in DLC, expansion or not include at all. Thanks
  10. YES it definitely is. Paired with a good graphics card, you'll have a pretty decent computer mate.
  11. I think we're starting to get on the same track now. First of all we see how Intel just crashes the AMD competition in almost every benchmark. Secondly, we see that, Phenom II x4 and phenom II x6 don't preform that bad, and because they're so cheap, they are a great option for someone building a value PC.
  12. I Played SimCity at PAX

    DmainEvent, I Agree completely.
  13. >Athlons are much cheaper than the FXes I never said Athlons weren't a good value processors, they are certainly are a good option for a CPU if you don't have much money. The only problem I have is you telling me Athlon is as powerful as Bulldozer CPUs and sorry boy, as much as they are great value low-tier quad cores, as much as they are cheap, as much as they consume less power ... ... they just aren't as good as AMD FX. Even Pentium II for about the same price offers better performance. If he has enough money, he should definitely get core i3. If not, he has pentium G640, and if he hates Intel and wants the best AMD processor, he should get FX series and if he hates intel and wants value AMD processor, he's got Athlon X4 and Phenom II. Are we now clear?
  14. I can provide benchmarks that prove that the FX cards perform about the same as the Athlon X6 and worse than the Athlon X4 under realistic circumstances. The FX chips will improve with the next iteration, but this first iteration is really crap. It's funny you tell him that the FX series is about as powerful as an i3, but last time I checked, they were priced the same as an i5 2400/3450. I think it's reasonable to expect that a $230 CPU perform as well as another $230 CPU, and not worse than a $120 CPU. FX is EXACTLY two times better than Athlon X4. I bought i5 processor just last week, I know what I'm talking about. I would've chosen AMD if it was better for the price but it wasn't, so I chose i5. I'm not biased towards anybody. I'm just saying, that if you have to buy AMD, buy FX, but I otherwise strongly support intel. If you're tight on budget, try petium G640 Intel. It's incredibly cheap, and doesn't preform much worse than i3.
  15. please just stop. First of all, if you have to buy AMD, buy FX series over Athlon X4.Yes, they have a problem with power consumption but at least they're somewhat on par with i3 with regards to gaming and lower-tier i5 with regards to multitasking. Also do not buy Sandy bridge, except if you get a great deal for a used one, or you're buying a better cooler and planning to Overclock You're best choice right now is ivy bridge i3 i5 or i7 depending on the budget. Always consider buying a bit better graphics card and a bit worse CPU than vice-versa.
  16. can someone pleas sent me a promo code on the PM?
  17. SimCity at E3 2012

I'm not as much sad about the textures, and Internet crap of crap, as I'm sad with the over-all scale of the cities. Look at this screenshot and this one: See any difference in size? I know it's a game, and it would be impossible to render the whole real city, but 100 houses and 20 skyscrapers just doesn't cut it for me to be honest. Also another thing, Are regions confirmed yet?
  18. Wow I pray to god this doesn't come true. Please. Oh the good old days, when you put a custom content in plugin folder and you were good to go
  19. Cloud Based Game?

meh.. I have decided not to buy this game since the announcement that I have to have an internet connection even if I play offline for god's sake. I'm not trying to boycott it or something, they just made a huge mistake with this decision and they will realise that when it's too late to fix it. Otherwise I wish those who decide to sacrifice their internet connection for a game a pleasant experience.
  20. I see two problems that arise on a communication level between game developers and end users. First one is, that game developers think the ones against playing the game always with internet connection aren't such a big group of people. They should realise 99.746 % of gaming community across the board dislike or despise this option. Even if we try to *tell* them their strategy is wrong by boycotting the game they would always blame low revenue on piracy and not on their dishonorable idea about needing internet connection just to play it offline. Ah, well, SC 2013 was a good hype for me while it lasted. I'm astonished they managed to beat up my eagerness for a new Simcity game with just one easy statement.
  21. It's pretty simple. I will not buy this game, if it requires being always online. Such a shame though.
  22. Resources!

resource depletion should obivously not be that huge problem.I hope so. In reality mines, fields, forests take hundreds upon hundreds of years to deplete and even that is with a furiously high gathering rate. And over contless years when resources diminish, city should accumulate enough wealth to boost the economy in other sectors. So we should only worry if Maxis tries to pull out an idea that resources are insanely scarce somehow. They should learn about how todays modern cities are sustainable. You bet its not just some fancy wind power plants and offices, you could easily pull out in Sim City 4
  23. Offtopic but minimum intersection angle in CXL is not 45°it's more like 25°or something
  24. Before you mark me as a nagging hater that always hates new things, believe me, I am not one of those. I was around when SC:S was announced, always full of optimism always arguing with people who hated the game even before it released. And when it released, I bought it, didn't find it that great but squezzed all the entertainment out if it I could and went on. Same with City-life 2, that later became CXL. I was so optimistic about it. Finally, a worthy replacement for SC4. And even today it's half decent to me, I dont hate it, even though this place is crouded with people that hate it. I always examined the "Simcity 5 roumors thread" hoping for new info... And now that the SC2013 is announced, I must say I'm not that excited as I thought I would be even weeks ago. The only positive thing I got from this game is it's modding supportive. So much things wrong with it. Where do I start? Ah yes, multiplayer exclusive. Yes multiplayer seemed exciting years ago when CXL announced it will be fully online. But as if MC bancrupcy didn't shake up anything, Maxis announces the same. It's as if everyone at maxis has an alzheimers. Then this Glassbox thing everyone is so excited about but makes me want to puke watching the Developer video presentations. Then this Clean city vs. Industrial city. Maxis should try to simulate reality, not make a virtual one, like if Anno 2070 wasn't the worst citybuilding game since SC:S. There are no completely clean cities and no completely industrial pullution blackholes. ALL cities. I repeat. ALL cities should have a balance between them. Not exclusiveness to one or another. Changing those awesome graphs from SC4 which I liked so much for some pathetic info-graphs or wathever is such a treason for me from maxis, that I get this pain of magnitude like being kicked in the privates. But the biggest shock got me when I saw what the pre-order features. Super-hero HQ, evil villan lair. This to me is such a horrible pain I don't even want to think about this game at the moment or I could risk a brain tumor. It's as if Maxis decided... who cares about real world. Let's make this game look awesome for teenage 13 year olds. Thanks for reading this. I'm probably off to do something productive outside or else this negativity I got from Simcity is going to eat me up from inside.
  25. hey now. Now that I'm reading my post, I'm laughing at myself. I'm usually not that negative When I read the responses from Maxis here, I became optimistic again. they confirmed singleplayer, so that's awesome Villans & superman will only be in limited edition charts, and graphs will be present, just in a cooler way than before Sorry guys, I completely renounce my first post
