  1. Entry 79 -- Grid-busting in East Awnsale

Very nice! I admire your grid-busting ways, I haven't had much courage in doing so myself (but I can always use the excuse that I'm a product of my almost-everywhere grid existence here in New York City, haha), but the more people share shots like these, the more I throw a diagonal in my SC4 creations! : )
  2. Where are people from?

Hi everyone! As someone who has been on this website since around 2007 steadily until about 2014, then took some years hiatus, I'm back. Something I've been wondering since I've returned is that when people comment on posts, and on their own profiles themselves, I've noticed that nowadays not as many people include their location. I'm not sure if its out of people being more private, or whatever other reasons there may be, but I noticed not as many folks share where they're from now, as opposed to years ago. I'm a curious dude, I wonder about random stuff, and, since I've had my location (I went with the generic "New York City", but if I got more specific I'd say Brooklyn) included with my profile since I made my account. I guess my curiosity is kinda like residential zones in SC4, I'm curious about who plays SC4, whether they're city dwellers like myself, suburbanites, or rural residents. Wondering if my observation on this is a thing, and also wondering where folks in the community are from. Not looking for any specific response, but comments are always fun to read, so don't be shy if you have anything to say about any of this. : )
  3. Bunch of SC4 questions

@rsc204 First of all, even though it has been years since I've been on this site, your remarkably helpful response to my questions just reiterated how I remember how nice and helpful people are in the Simtropolis community. I have already made a new folder and labeled it "Dependencies" and possibly look into downloading a dependency package if it would seem useful to do so, knowing I have a specific folder if I need it. I will try to go about downloading some lots that I've wanted for many years that happen to have dependencies, which are a lot. And I will definitely check out the links you provided that will help me with using features in NAM, such as the situation I explained about ground HSR. I'll also look at the links to sc4devotion you provided so I can change my trains from monorail trains to more appropriate-looking trains for my High Speed Rail. Thank you for such an amazing response to my questions. @Cyclone Boom I think what may have happened is that I had a different account on here which had that higher reputation (not the old-school points thing though) and that was what I was thinking about, but that account has been lost for a good amount of time because I didn't remember enough info (e-mail address I used to set it up, username, password) to recover it, so my current account (SpogNYC) I think I created a few months before my haitus. Thanks for the prompt reply, it sparked my memory and made me realize what happened! : ) tl;dr I was thinking of my other long lost account, not my current one, sorry if it was a hassle for you to look into it. @City_Slider Seriously! You know, back when I was on this site very frequently (2007-2014) I gotta tell you, I don't think there was even one time where I asked a question that I didn't get a response. Good folks here. : )
  4. Hi everybody! I've been a SC4 head since it's release way back when and I'm old enough to not care if my questions sound dumb, hence this post. I know that a lot, maybe all, these questions are answered somewhere on Simtropolis, so mods, feel free to readjust/recatagorize/edit/etc, this post to the correct place (sorry for the undoubtedly busywork I'm inflicting with this). I don't know the answers to these questions partly due to laziness, and partly being bad at searching things, so I apologize. Anyway, here we go: 1.) Simtropolis website question: I've been on Simtropolis for many years. I used to comment frequently and post sometimes. After a 5 year hiatus and after recently getting back in the "Simtropolis groove", I've noticed that my comments from back when may have gotten erased due to my inactivity. Does post "reputation" get erased after a certain amount of inactivity? I have something like +6 now, but I remember having close to 100 before. Just curious. 2.) How do I download/implement "prop packs" and "dependencies"? I've always downloaded buildings because it was easy, just put in "Plugin" folder, extract, and all is good. I've always hesitated to download prop packs/dependencies because I don't know the process. Just one quick example: a lot of stuff I wanted to download for retail buildings, most of which were put on the exchange by someone called "RRetail" (? I think, I may be wrong) but I've never downloaded any buildings due to not knowing how to download prop packs and or dependencies, and feeling it would somehow be a more daunting and complicated task than the easy process of downloading buildings. Have I missed out due to my (probably) irrational concern? Also, run through or, if there's a section of the website that explains it (which I'm sure there probs is), please help me out if you can, thanks. 3.) I am mostly NAM-illiterate. I'm still running on NAM 34 or 36 (can't remember). Anyway, I finally learned how to set down high-speed rail (only elevated GSR, haven't figured the ground GSR and how to maneuver roads/streets through it. Anyhoo, my elevated GSR still uses Monorail trains. How do I get and install more appropriate trains for this? Easy explanations are welcomed, as I'm kind of a geezer and my computer skills are mostly Amish-league. Ok, that's just 3 of my questions, I'm already embarrassed enough to post all this stuff which is probably really basic. Thanks in advance for any help/input/answers to these questions.
  5. BAT Request Thread

@Cyclone Boom Thank you for doing that. Although I'm confused, I thought I posted my comment on the "BAT Request Thread", do you know the name of the thread I mistakenly posted to so I can pay closer attention in the future? Thanks again.
  6. BAT Request Thread

I've been playing SC4 since it came out, and have been on Simtropolis for almost as long (although I lost my original account sometime over these years), and for as long as I've known, one area that really lacks availability is the real stadium/arena genre. There has been a handful of stadiums/arenas created over the years, but the selection still seems lacking. I have never made buildings, I'm strictly a SC4 player, so maybe there are factors I'm not sure about. Some of these variables may include the following: Maybe building stadiums/arenas is a lot more difficult/challenging/time-consuming than creating other types of buildings? Maybe the pieces/props/whatever stuff (like I said, don't know diddly about creating buildings) doesn't include things that are key to constructing a stadium/arena? Maybe there's not nearly the amount of sports nuts that I thought who also play SC4 (like me, haha) on Simtropolis? Maybe the majority of those who do enjoy and make and submit buildings to the exchange just aren't sports fans? Anyway, this has been on my mind for a looong time, so maybe I'll get some sorta insight for my curiosity. There are a lot of great stadiums and arenas out there, some with a long history, some new, state-of-the-art, some defunct or demolished, and some that are just really good lookin', but I'm surprised some of these (CAUTION: VERY LONG LIST, hahaha!) haven't been created and would love to see one or more of these made in the future: National Football League (NFL) venues: Lambeau Field (home of the Green Bay Packers) Mercedes-Benz Stadium (home of the Atlanta Falcons) AT&T Stadium (home of the Dallas Cowboys) Soldier Field (home of the Chicago Bears) Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum (home to the University of Southern California Trojans (college football), former home of the Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Raiders, host of the 1932 &1984 Summer Olympics) Arrowhead Stadium (home of the Kansas City Chiefs) Mercedes-Benz Superdome (formerly named the Louisiana Superdome, home of the New Orleans Saints) Major League Baseball (MLB) venues: Fenway Park (home of the Boston Red Sox) Wrigley Field (home of the Chicago Cubs) Oriole Park at Camden Yards (home of the Baltimore Orioles) Dodger Stadium (home of the Los Angeles Dodgers) Citi Field (home of the New York Mets (my team, Let's Go Mets!)) Yankee Stadium (the 1st or 2nd incarnation, not the present stadium, as its trash) PNC Park (home of the Pittsburgh Pirates) National Hockey League (NHL) venues: Bridgestone Arena (home of the Nashville Predators) Nassau Coliseum (home of the New York Islanders) (ugly but historical and beloved by Islanders fans such as myself) Scotiabank Saddledome (home of the Calgary Flames) National Basketball League (NBA) venues: American Airlines Center (home of the Dallas Mavericks) Bankers Life Fieldhouse (home of the Indiana Pacers) Barclays Center (home of the Brooklyn Nets) Fiserv Forum (home of the Milwaukee Bucks) Golden 1 Center (home of the Sacramento Kings) College Football (NCAA) venues: Autzen Stadium (home of the Oregon Ducks) Camp Randall Stadium (home of the Wisconsin Badgers) Folsom Field (home of the Colorado Buffaloes) Clemson Memorial Stadium (home of the Clemson Tigers) Michigan Stadium (home of the Michigan Wolverines) Neyland Stadium (home of the Tennessee Volunteers) Ohio Stadium (home of the Ohio State Buckeyes) Rose Bowl (home of the UCLA (University of California, Los Angeles) Bruins) Sanford Stadium (home of the Georgia Bulldogs) Historical/Cool Venues No Longer Being Used and/or Demolished: Boston Garden (former home to the Boston Celtics (NBA) & Boston Bruins (NHL)) Joe Louis Arena (former home to the Detroit Red Wings (NHL)) *I may have seen this one on the exchange, will have to check Omni Coliseum (former home to the Atlanta Hawks (NBA)) Montreal Forum (former home to the Montreal Canadiens (NHL)) Maple Leaf Gardens (former home to the Toronto Maple Leafs (NHL)) Civic Arena (former home to the Pittsburgh Penguins (NHL)) Chicago Stadium (former home to the Chicago Bulls (NBA) & Chicago Blackhawks (NHL)) St. Louis Arena (also known as "the Checkerdome", former home to the St. Louis Blues (NHL)) Stampede Corral (former home to the Calgary Flames (NHL)) The Forum (also known as the "Great Western Forum", former home to the Los Angeles Lakers (NBA) & the Los Angeles Kings (NHL)) The Alamodome (former home to the San Antonio Spurs) Crosley Field (former home to the Cincinnati Reds (MLB)) Tiger Stadium (former home to the Detroit Tigers (MLB)) Shea Stadium (former home to the New York Mets (MLB)) Orange Bowl (former home to the Miami Hurricanes (college football-NCAA) & Miami Dolphins (NFL)) Congrats if you've read all this, I wrote a lot!
