Amazing work. It's somewhere between the Plaza del Sol and the Plaza de España, very reminiscent of both. -

I read this article yesterday on the NYT website: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/05/06/world/americas/06bogota.html I find it really quite sad as Bogotá for the longest time is almost universally touted as one of the Latin American "success stories." Especially the bit about the deterioration of the TransMilenio. I'm sure more than a few of you have heard of it. It was designed as one of the first (if not the first) large-scale BRT systems in the world, and has served as a model for many others. I've wanted to travel to Colombia for a while, but the article makes me rethink my plans as I would be very fearful of armed robberies inside my hotel/hostel. Any thoughts or opinions?
-
With all due respect I disagree. The article has everything to do with the failing urban planning model being employed in Bogotá, and is evidence that without proper maintenance, even the best urban models can quickly start to fail. The transmilenio was inaugurated not 5 years ago, and it's already being touted as a failed system.

skyscraper - SIM CITY VENUS-PROJECT (Coming 2013)

Looks awesome so far! Has anyone attempted the Burj Khalifa? That would be impressive haha -
I agree with what's been posted above that if you want realism, choose a city from the American midwest or west. I feel SC4 was basically designed to build modern, grid oriented cities. Because of that it is very difficult to recreate realistic old-world cities, or even older colonial cities from the Americas. @Dranxander, I've been working on a generalized "Spanish Caribbean" city for a while, kind of a composite of San Juan, Havana, and Santo Domingo. I've learned something. It's hard! haha best of luck to you

I know this is quite the old topic, but this same thing just happened to me in my wealthiest city. I got rid of the lot I'm pretty sure caused the problem, but now I can't grow the RAI back up. It's been "years" and I would really like to get it climbing again. Any suggestions? Just to specify, I haven't had any large fluctuations in population, there has been no decrease in the population of R$$$, and no increase in the population of R$. The RAI just dropped drastically one year from around $250,000, to $30,000 and it's been hovering around there ever since. Quite frustrating, though I understand it's had no real impact on the city itself.
