You see just money... Medical costs are most affected by market when are in market. Low offer, high demand. Maybe with a universal medical care that high costs touching the skies, down to a acceptable cost. Its because you're looking to price that companies are showing !!! Cuba have excellent health, not because they are not obese, or because they don't have McDonald's or Burger King... Because they spend in preventive medicine. In a private system, few people will go to medic to make a check-up, but a lot will do when are feeling much pain, or dying. With few (in some causes none) basics medical assistance, you overload the other critical medical or emergency assistance, because a lot of people, turn in a critical situation because they not received assistance when the needs was basic, now its critical. And when you are in a critical situation, you need more specialized medic, more sophisticated equipments, and maybe should internee. And all that stuffs cost MORE, MUCH MORE, than basic medical assistance. And about the tax and fees to sustain this socialized system: The money spend in private medical care, could be used to finance a universal care, maybe like OHIP (Ontario Health Insurance Plan) in ON, Canada, which citizens pay a annual fee to receive the coverage. ( by government organ, no profit are intended, only the health of citizens.) It's not perfect, but work. With all respect, you Americans are brainwashed...
