Cheers, James Thanks! That is what I try to do. C4RACORTADA, on 01 May 2014 - 03:36 AM, said: I agree with James, are very realistic images Thanks friend. Glad you like. I just love this. 5/5 +1 I appreciate that! fan o SC4, on 01 May 2014 - 06:43 AM, said: Visually pleasing and realistic urban/suburban development, sweet. Great! Thanks for the visit. cortezz, on 01 May 2014 - 2:13 PM, said: I just would like to say I really enjoy your journal and this is first one I actual followed and now commented on. Or even commented on this website since I started coming in 2004. I mostly just glance at journals and move on never to look at them again. But yours actual caught my attention. Some journals photoshop the images too much and loose the actual simcity flavor or make them hard to view and enjoy. Others go overboard with story elements but yours strikes a great balance. I look forward to more entries and to see your region expand and grow. Will you be adding a national park or State Park in the future? I think you do a great job with landscape and forest. Well thank you for the very kind words. I actually have planned to do some large natural areas. Luiz P. Romanini, on 01 May 2014 - 9:12 PM, said: Great job. So green, but also so urban! Awesome. Thanks for stopping by! Update: By for now, Dick Wright

Thank you for the regional update, which shows how you have connected the cities together, and how diverse they are. You've done an exceptional job!

Very well laid out road grid, with nice curves and avenues making good use of available land. Your parks a very attractive as well. -

I believe I would have some sore feet traversing that terrain, and shed a few tears. Very unique presentation!! -

Very nice start for the region, and it shows the folks there are a hard working bunch to have accomplished so much. Looks like they are successfully growing enough to feed themselves.

Villaloisia, in the heart of Simsinnati
rewright commented on Caracortada's City Journal Entry in Simsinnati
This is so well done that it's hard to know where to start a comment. The over-all look is just so realistic and peaceful that you just want to jump into the pictures and look around. -

Very nice work on the town and country side, especially the shore line. Looks realistic! -
It's good to have a cj, as you will learn a lot and get some good advice from more experienced members. Good luck.

When I traveled to Canada some years ago, I noticed this type of thing. Thanks! C4RACORTADA, on 26 Apr 2014 - 02:37 AM, said: This is a realistic view of region, I like! Thanks for that. I switched to the terrain mod you sent me. Huston, on 26 Apr 2014 - 06:07 AM, said: This region shot still really alluring. I mean I hardly have any words to describe it Well, the ones you used will do just fine!! Thank you!! Ln X, on 26 Apr 2014 - 06:49 AM, said: A great regional picture. Good job integrating the woodland, farmland and main city so smoothly. Yes, as I mentioned to jmsepe above, when I was in Quebec, I notice many of the towns were like that. Not so much suburban sprawl just scattered over the landscape. Schulmanator, on 26 Apr 2014 - 07:16 AM, said: Great pic Thanks for the visit! Moerp, on 26 Apr 2014 - 08:43 AM, said: Your building style is so incredible realistic! And I love realism^^ Well, there have been a few other members that excelled in this type of region, most notably Mr. Beer, and I've been inspired by them in that respect. Thank you. feeroz123, on 26 Apr 2014 - 2:50 PM, said: This is a pic taken from a flight over the region ! Awesome work ! As you can see, there is still a lot of tiles yet to be played. Wallibuk, on 26 Apr 2014 - 6:14 PM, said: very structured area, nice Thanks for the visit! raynev1, on 27 Apr 2014 - 08:16 AM, said: Region views are my favorite , this one looks fantastic . 5/5 Yes, they seem to be popular. I'll do another when there is some development east of the river. Update: Brattleboro has become quite urbanized, with numerous large residential and office towers, and a metro population of almost 300,000 residents. Financial services, insurance and corporate offices have transformed the city's core, adding thousands of jobs. Many workers in these businesses now live in the city center, enjoying the amenities of urban life. While most of the residential growth has been on the western side of the river, a new metro line under the Rock River, and abundant land will bring an anticipated surge in residential growth here. Residential and office buildings cluster around the civic center. Some high-end condos with parks and ponds, and more modest apartments across the street. Care to ride in a helicopter and land up here? The Rock River dam is the oldest in the region and still functions as flood control and electrical gerneraton. By for now... Dick

I've been busy at work and haven't had much time to put together and update. Maybe the 1st of the week. C4RACORTADA, on 18 Apr 2014 - 1:16 PM, said: You've done a good job! Thank you for that! I also liked the way you used Maxis highways. The use of MMPs is well done too Yes, I try to get the most out of them. Thanks. Yes, your use of MMP's is especially good and realistic. Also your trees are well chosen and planted. Very nice!

Replies: MariusMR, on 15 Apr 2014 - 04:30 AM, said: Very useful indeed! Thank you very much! Now I have to go and find a place to build a dam... Thanks! Sometimes I have to tweek the spot a little. 89James89, on 15 Apr 2014 - 04:32 AM, said: That's cool that you took us through the process. Not sure I like the use of the peg pond pieces up the top but I think that's just personal preference to using MMP's for water bodies. Other than that it looks awesome. I assume there would be a road leading tot he actual power plant at the bottom though? Cheers James EDIT: Just read the previous update and seen that you did indeed add access roads tot he powerplant in the real thing. Good job! I've used the ploppable water but it seems to come out a little blotchy, though it allows more freedom with creating the shoreline. Glad you like it. feeroz123, on 15 Apr 2014 - 08:19 AM, said: Great! Not everyone teaches the skills. Thank you ! Good technique. Thanks. I know, and I am always thankful when someone shows how they do a particular technique. Hope this will help. Schriefer, on 15 Apr 2014 - 10:19 AM, said: Great tutorial. Thanks for that. You're very welcome friend. Ln X, on 15 Apr 2014 - 6:38 PM, said: Thank you very much for this tutorial! Great, glad you liked it. Thanks for all the "catch up" replies!! Update: Work has begun on the Stan Wright Connector, which will tie in the northern suburbs to the freeway grid. More on the next section soon. By for now... Dick

That looks like a fun map to work with. I also find that as a region progresses I find some better way of doing things and start fresh. -
How to Make a Region-Wide Google Style Street Map

Your map is the best out there friend. A bit of a learning curve, but with time I think I could do it. Time being the key word there! LOL -
Montefamulus, a village in the swamp.
rewright commented on Caracortada's City Journal Entry in Simsinnati
Beautiful update! One thing you do is to leave space between things which adds to the realism. What dam did you use if I may ask? And the terraced city with the cliffs separating the different sections is very special. -
Good looking development, with many interesting buildings. What is the building in the second picture, lower right?

A few folks have indicated they are interested in how I build my dams. Here is a little tutorial on how I do it. I hope it is useful to some of you. 1. Find a likely location for your dam. A valley, near by river and a way to extend a branch stream to the dam location. 2. Extend a stream to the spot you will build the dam. Widening the area at the dam base.3. At the base of the dam, build a three row shelf.4. Raise the back row by 24m (using Hole Digging Lots by Shadow Assassin).5. Create a two row shelf.6. Raise the back row by 24.7. Keep repeating steps 5 & 6 until the dam is at the height you want.8. At the back of the dam, make a shelf at the level you want your reservoir.9. Level your lake, filling the valley.10. On the base shelf, put what ever you want for your spillway and sea walls. You can also ad an addition for a power house, etc. I've used PEG Hydroelectric dam here.11. Using FrankU Modular Warehouse Pack's empty lot, coat you dam faces.+12. Using PEG Pond pieces, create the lakes border.++13. Once the border is done, use the 4x4 water piece and and fill in the center of the lake.+14. Finish the lake with smaller pieces.+15. You can then add things like access roads.+I hope this will be helpful. Thanks,Dick Wright
