Fantastic! Your plugin folder must be huge. :)
  3. Just Another Waterfront

That is a piece of art. A shame about the volcano!
  4. Bakersfeild Teaser

Great looking farm! You've used content very well. Good job!!
  5. Porto Macondo - A little coastal town

    Wonderful detail. Impressive!
  6. Sprawling Always

I like those apartment blocks, and the soccer fields are a nice touch. Where did you get the apartments and are they grown or plopped? Any way, super nice work.
  7. Norwalk - A town on the river...

I see a new idea or technique and it's just easier to start a new journal. Benedict, on 31 Jan 2014 - 08:21 AM, said: Good to see you back, and even better to see the quality of your latest work. I think your seamless transitions between different types of land use (farms, industry, residential, nature) are fantastic, and look extremely realistic. Thanks friend. I've been experimenting with a little different (for me) way to do forested areas. You'll see some differences in some of the city tiles. I'm finally getting away from the Maxis trees. Update: Norwalk, about 15 miles southeast of Brattleoro, sits on a quiet river. It's known for it's river walk and little shops. It was created because the train station blocked the view of the river. Farming and lumber are it's main industries. Nice quiet neighborhoods. Putting one of their own to rest. By for now... Dick
  8. It's difficult for me to keep an endless CJ. I see new techniques or ideas that require a new CJ.

    1. Terring

      Terring

This is the reason why I had to abandon my previous city journal (Eden: The New Frontier) and why I'm going to reboot it somewhere this year.

    2. SimRico

      SimRico

Ive rebooted witb a different format so to keep a consistancy format and i got tired of having to keep re-centering, re-bolding, etc each time i edited or added an entry using the scrolling blog method. Now i use slides and the entry is a simple clickable pic or two and minimal text to read.

They could always be in different parts of a 'country'.

  9. Replies: Schriefer, on 29 Jan 2014 - 3:21 PM, said: Nice, I liked the journal But would be good bigger images. Thanks for the visit, hope these shots help. Update: Birds eye of Brattleboro South side of town City center Downtown West side shopping Municipal complex By for now... Dick
  10. Between Heaven and Hell, the city of Rio de Mayo

Nice work on the pictures. The hillside slums look realistic.
  11. Getting our bearings

I really like pictures 2,3 &4. Reminds me of a model railroad. Lots of interesting things to look at!   Dick
  12. S.H.R.A..... Approved site

Hey, that is a pretty cool drag strip, with a tower and all. Hope their shuts work or they'll get wet! ;)   Dick
  13. Wild Country

Your attention to detail is without equal. The pictures could easily be photographs.
  14. Front page of the morning paper...

The Brattleboro Reporter is the regions main newspaper, and here we see the front page, top of the fold. It consists of the weather, a sample of the opinion page, and local news. Unlike most papers, local news takes the front spot, national and international news follows on the inside. Lets see what has our citizens attention today. By for now... Dick
  15. Maybe a CJ...

I wasn't quite sure where to put this but I've been experimenting on a different method of laying down forest areas (at least for me), a bit stylized but looks nice I think. Here are a few pictures. The region: A close up of the active area: Here is the main town: Any input is welcome!
  16. Maybe a CJ...

First I paint SimFox "Large Plane Trees" on the area I want forested, not quite covering it completely. I then fill in the area with CPT_Temporary Rainforest And Jeronidogg Ploppable Trees to give the forest diversity, following the terrain. You can then add fallen logs, rocks, etc. Thanks for the interest! Dick
  17. To SPAM Or Not To SPAM

I use JMeyers, some Peg but when I loaded the whole Spam system, that others stuff didn't grow and I ended up with large farms but very few buildings. I've tried to keep the ploppable farm building in Spam but seem to have missing textures.
  18. Maybe a CJ...

I've generally used the Maxis trees in God Mode because it was much easier to cover large areas, and they reminded me of the oaks and maple that cover the hills in my home region. But they are somewhat boring and messy so I've realized I need to find another method. The pictures I posted here were a start but as I said, the layout was kind of stylized and uniform. Your input has been helpful and I've done some more experimenting as the following pictures will show. I await your progress reports... Here I changed the pattern to a more natural uneven one, and added variety: Then I tried some detail with rocks, shrubs, and fallen tree: Thanks, Dick Wright
  19. Then you'll have to patch the game. You should have the 1.1.640.0 patch to have non maxis buildings show lights at night OK, I guess I follow the Mooses link to the patch. Where does it need to be installed?
  20. I have had this issue also, which started some time ago after using the Dark Night mod for a short time. I don't use the night time mode often and I took out the Dark Night mod. A while later I noticed I had almost no night lighting except street lights and a few buildings. I know I've updated the game in the past. Where exactly do the updates go? Documents or Program files? My Build Version is: 1.1.638.0 Thanks...
  21. And the goal is ?

Since high school I enjoyed drawing city maps which I created, naming streets, etc. I thought I was the only weirdo into that stuff (so didn't my friends) until I found the original SimCity game, and I've played everyone since. But it wasn't until I found Simtropolis that I realized there was a community of like minded folks out there. Thank you all!!!
  22. Maybe a CJ...

This program, Sawtooth's Region Census v0.8, will allow you to show a regional picture. You can uncheck the fit pic to screen and will get an expanded picture. I then did a screen shot of the area I wanted. I did that a little in a couple of cities. I probably won't change every city (laying those forested sections was real time consuming), but I have an idea that I will use on the next one. I'll post a picture. Thanks.
  23. Wind Power Plant No Grass MOD

I plopped it in a new city, maxis terrain, and the surface textures disappeared. Any ideas?   Thanks
  24. HK 2 International Finance Centre v3

Very impressive and a beautiful structure.
  25. Latino house

This is a very good idea, and as others have stated, more varieties would be welcomed. Apartment buildings and some small businesses also would help create the ability to make a southern hemisphere style region. :)
