The townhomes in Baltimore are interesting. You can drive for several miles and you see the exact same townhome (half flat, half round bay) over and over again, never ending except for the intersections. The only change is the brick color, which seems to change periodically.

I don't know about Portland's wire setup, but the model I have there is a heavyduty version, meant for high speed rail. IRL, tram wires would be thinner and more graceful. Unfortunately, anything thinner than this probably won't show up well in the game. I don't think most people outside of this thread will know the difference, but don't knock the realism unless you know the backstory. I'm still deciding whether to make this a transit prop (like the avenue medians) or a puzzle piece. I'll be updating on this in the NAM thread, although it may take a while (school is starting).

Well, if they were lots, they wouldn't be in this thread. I've made catenary wire (the technical term) lots, but thye don't really work on slopes, and you can't place two transit-enabled lots next to each other. I'm gonna make it into 4 rail puzzle pieces: straight, diagonal, and a left and right curve piece. This may change, as the light rail project has shown interest in it.

Overhead Wire, guys I can make it longer if you want.
-
For anyone that wants overhead wires for rail: Hope that shows up okay. For anyone worried about poly counts, I plan to use alpha channels to do the wires. The current model just has the corner poles, the little insulating cylinders, and plane objects for everything else. How long should I make it? No longer than 3 tiles, but . .

It is possible, but not as part of this thread. If you want something like that, request it in the Lot forum.

Date: 8/21/2004 1:39:27 PM Author: Daeley edit2: I did a quick glance at the interchange tutorial by redlotus and something sprung in my mind... do you think it would be possible to create puzzle pieces that would allow ground level elrail traffic? Like I said above, no elrail train would appear on them, but I don't think that's a problem... but you mentioned no corners with puzzle pieces so this might not be possible...quote> Corners with puzzle pieces are perfectly possible. Just create a model and write the paths for it.

Poole, Diamond and Associates BAT Showcase

Okay, your first problem. You used the Blank Lot Set CO$$$ to create your ploppable. These are known to cause problems. I'm gonna try to convert the actual building into a ploppable, but I need to know how many jobs you want first. Also, just for future reference, save the ploppable lots with PLOP in the name, and the growable ones with GROW in the name. This will make it easier to distinguish, in case these problems come up in the future. As for the parking garage thing: I can't really reason it out. I'm guessing it has something to do with an error in the building file. I might need to do some more research on these indestructible props before I can diagnose. -

I'd be willing to fix it for you guys. It WAS on my list, so I'd like to contribute at least . . I'm investigating now. I'll probably end up re-doing the SC4Desc files and Lot files, as well as tinkering with the footprint size. -
Well, is it possible to add new Transit I/O directional values? I strongly suspect not, but . .

Interlocking towers are seen at many rail junctions across the US.Their main function is to control the assortment of turnouts (switches,in railroad terms) at the junction. Because they are seen in so manylocations across the country, they tend to evoke the feeling and styleof the area. One in New Jersey might be small, blocky andinstitutional, one in upstate New York might be an elaborate Victorian, and one in the Midwest might be Prairie style. Sadly, these uniquetestaments to the power of rail are being decommissioned slowly andtorn down, to be replaced by national facilities. Inside a tower is amachine called an interlocking press, an assembly of levers thatcontrol the switches. The operator receives messages from thedispatcher, who then manipulates the switches to allow trains to passthrough correctly. Lot: 1x3 Monthly Cost: 15 -
