Chief Spence was not on a hunger strike. She got all the nutrients she needed by drinking fish broth and meal replacement formulas. Ghandi had nothing and was starving. If it wasn't for her and the looming presence of corrupt chiefs I would have been behind the movement for the most part and I know many Canadians feel the same way. As for governments never caring enough to change the system, they have tried to scrap the indian act on multiple occasions, but there was outrage on the native side (Probably provoked by the chiefs to keep their hold on power).

Well, I don't want to cloud this thread with ugly political discussions, but I might as well give my perspective as a Canadian. First off, I think the issue lies with the current treaties system, and with many of the chiefs who are corrupt and don't know how to manage a community. Many are over paid and fight for more rights not for the betterment of their people but rather for their own benefit. This is largely seen as the reason for the Idle no more movement, which was unfortunately for a time given Chief Spence as its poster child. Support overseas was quite small by the way, I think only 20 or so people showed at the protest in London. I think rather than demanding more rights, and further separation from Canadian society, the move should be towards integration. Fact is, the country is already divided enough and we really don't need hundreds of sovereign pockets at every corner. We are a multicultural society, and the native peoples should belong to that society. Enough with looking at the past and blaming the descendants of those who caused the past grievances. Its better to look at ones self, and find the true reason for why ones life is where it is today. Rather than looking at us European descendants as colonizers look at us as countrymen. Just my perspective.

I'm just going to pack everything as closely together as the game will allow. Thats my plan as well, but this new zoning system will make the job much more frustrating.
  11. New Screenshots

The new zoning will make it hard to create dense lowrise areas, because you will have no idea where buildings will go and you'll end up with a bunch of empty spaces.
  12. Thats a very common misconception that a decent PC will cost you 1000 dollars. I have a 400 dollar computer and can run any modern game without any issue. Also one fact that you must remember is that Maxis stated very early on that Glassbox is an extremely simple engine, and although it can do a lot and is doing a lot whilst the game is running, it does this in a very efficient and simple way, meaning it takes less of a toll on the amount of power needed to run the simulation, not to say that it isn't a lot, but it isn't some unachievable amount.
  13. The amount of processing power required is standard in PCs today, it should never have been seen as an issue.
  14. No, and I'm not saying that it was a bad choice (Not my thing but I could have gotten over it). But to say that they are putting a lot of stress on the game like you seemed to imply is nonsense.
  15. Very good textures? A lot of them seem to be monotone colours...
  16. Thing is though, the graphics don't look like there going to be anything new. They even look comparable to Cities XL which deals with scale just fine. Now you could make the argument that the simulation in SC2013 is more advanced than in Cities XL, and this very well may be true. That being said, I don't think modern lower spec computers would have much trouble running it.
  17. Even if the reason behind always online was that they wanted to recreate Simcity 2000: Network Edition, and not DRM (No way I'm buying that) the always online has obviously put major limitations on what they can do in terms of scale. You take away the online, and your able to match SC4 in terms of scale.
  18. Well for one, they are only giving us tiny spaces to play in, and they are all separated by long distances in the region view meaning creating a realistic city is impossible. This was apparently caused by the always online functionality they added in, the main purpose of this functionality is DRM meaning they sacrificed major game play components for DRM. If that doesn't put you off nothing will.
  19. New Screenshots

This is starting to look like a complex town creator for the sims.
