  1. BAT - Open Discussion - Open Discussion

I always felt the Workshop folder was a bit of an extra addon. Makes sense to merge them IMHO. Is the name of the new combined folder going to be the Open Discussion or will the Workshop name be used? Workshop IMHO is just as appropriate a name for BAT creators threads (which are, aside from those in a major team, here) as they are for those learning the BAT. It makes sense to have those who need help and those who are more experienced with the BAT hanging around in the same folder, as it brings the two groups somewhat closer. Anyway, these are all great ideas, great to hear they're on the to-do list.
  2. Mjig's SMP BAT Thread

Looks great. I think it needs a bit of colour, though. Also, I'd move the seating back to the centre of the platform - there's waaaay too little clearance there.
  3. NDEX ITS Suburban Shops

I have the *perfect* spot for these in my current region. Looking brilliant, as always.
  4. coultharda's BATs

I realise that it's not unrealistic, but the white on the roof of that one looks a little *too* white. The slightest tint of grey on the roof might help to accentuate the roof's support mechanisms. Now, there wouldn't be any chance of getting those stands as standalone BAT pieces, would there? Actually, a prop pack of some of your stand models would be really handy. Just an idea, it's not hard to convert the models into props in the Maxis Plugin Manager.
  5. The price to pay to be beautiful.

Yeah, I work with large city tiles now myself, and I didn't realise how long it can actually take to fill up a tile until I started working with my current region (which is very, very spread out). My PT use is insane.... I have several stations at 10,000 + pax, with most of my major stations at over 6,000. That's just the rail system. The buses are used fairly well, too.
  6. vda Utrecht Korte Jansstraat 23 25

Oh, I forgot to say, great work on the interior on the bottom floor. It looks very very believeable.
  7. vda Utrecht Korte Jansstraat 23 25

I love the model, though I do think the textures could use a little bit more of an appearance of wear and tear -- though the real building appears to have been well preserved, there are definite signs of age. Also, the facade looks *slightly* too flat. Still, it's not so bad as to not make it into my cities... :D
  8. UK Dormer Bungalow

rp... wow, long time no see! Just a suggestion, use zoom 5, not zoom 6. You'd capture the whole lot, too.
  9. *jaw drops* SA, that looks brilliant! I love how cleanly it transitions into the one-ways as well. The new icons look much better, too. Forgot to comment on Blahdy's posts... Everything is looking absolutely stunning as usual.
  10. Amsterdam Het Poppenhuis

Great work! I would second what mattb has said, not everyone knows where the textures and hedges can be found (I have both already...).

I have a Pentium D with 2GB of RAM and a 7600GT and it's taking this no sweat - in fact, I can actually *multitask* while I'm playing the game. (my old POS didn't have a hope doing that - it *barely* ran XP efficiently.

Now if you *really* want a city to fail, use one of the super demand things, and then turn it off once the pop. has griwn quite high, heheh. Great way to simulate an economic crash.
  13. vda Amsterdam Spuistraat 36 38

Heh. My Vanderaap folder would probably contain the most of any other folder aside from the BSC. Another wonderful addition to the collection. These really add character to my inner city areas.
  14. Small Football Ground 2

it IS a soccer field. The Europeans call it football. :D Great little ground, these really have helped give a bit of variety to my suburban areas.
  15. Glenni's BAT showcase

    LOL @ Chav.
  16. The Portland & Oregon BAT Team, Chapter 1

I can't quite put into words how much better that looks now. In particular the window reflections really help to convey the high reflectivity that the building according to the pictures I've seen has. They're also just subtle enough to not stand out, which is good, because reflections that stand out look bad in SC. Also, I think you've added just the right amount of blue tint - don't change it. I'm not quite sure *where* I'll put this one, but it looks like a good building to include somewhere in one of my CBDs.
  17. NDEX ITS Bakers Corner

We definitely need more 1x1 buildings. Thankyou very much.
  18. The Portland & Oregon BAT Team, Chapter 1

The textures don't (for the most part) sit right with me. Granted, though, that it's a hard one to texture. The "garden", however, looks *perfect*. As does the nightlighting. Like Jason, I really do think there needs to be at least *some* blue in the window colour - I think it'd give the thing some life in-game The windows to be fair probably won't ever look right because of the fact they're so reflective, so I won't be too harsh on that point... Also, the horizontal trim around the windows is far too noticeable - in fact, it doesn't look like there's any on the top of the windows, except right at the top of the building. This must be near torture to texture.
  19. I should warn you, I hope you all have good lawyers - Disney is known to be fairly sue happy.

  21. /Zumi/s BATs

I *love* the nightlights on this new one.

Originally posted by: DFire870 Originally posted by: diablo_del_bano MATRA's rail system is like that too. Two lines that only cross in Five Points. Of course they have busses too, but then that is no big feat for any city, even smaller ones.quote> You'd be surprised... Arlington, TX, which is a suburb of the DFW metroplex, is about 300,000 people, and has no public transportation system (including buses). In fact, it's the largest in the US without one. This is mainly because people don't want to pay extra taxes to have their own system or to be covered under DART (Dallas system) or The T (Fort Worth system). Anyways, I really liked the Washington, D.C. metro system, as well as the Paris one.quote> Egadz, that's terrible. Even Wollongong, which has less than that in population here, has PT in the form of a rail line that cuts through it, and it's now looking at a tram line in the inner city (warranted, given the place is undergoing quite a population boom at the moment!). It has a lot of potential, that place. Though the Gold Coast, at 500,000 barely has a functioning PT system (pretty much just buses, with a line out in the boonies that connects to Brisbane. As a result of that, the Gold Coast Highway is pretty much a 30km carpark. There are, thankfully, plans to put in something resembling a good system, however.
  23. Bluecrest, Alberta, Canada

Hey, where can I get that New RBC building? (and what's it REALLY called so I can find it). It'd be a perfect replacement for at least one of the countless Reflect Systems Inc. that are flooding my CBD!
  24. Tonksies BAT Thread NDEX

If Imageshack decides to cooperate, here's a shot of Baron Cross as I've used it in-situ: You might recognise one of the buildings in the foreground, too. The old station went almost up to the avenue, and had only 6 platforms (SimGoober's wonderful "Simtropolis Station", which I'll find a spot for elsewhere in the region). There used to be a bypass track, which has been taken up by platforms 7 and 8. Bah, looks like I forgot to go underground before taking that shot... one of the transitions is covered over
  25. Tonksies BAT Thread NDEX

I've already used Baron Cross... Fits the spot I had in mind PERFECTLY... Not only that, I had room left over for a parking lot and bus terminal.
