I'm glad to announce you: The Chase Tower is online :

More than 800 different people, actually - the "nearly 500" number is how many have posted a reply to Schulmania multiple times, which is an amazing stat in itself.

Hazani Pratama: Thank you SimCoug: That was exactly how seawalls were supposed to work in game. I'll get back to them soon, finish the model, than I'll ask Bipin how to implement them in game, since the plan was for them to work much like his walls walls for highways. But everyone is welcome to suggest how this should be done. Sgt Pepper: Hopefully you've installed it by now Darknono: Thank you and yes we need more Art Deco in game. Good suggestion about pillars, I'll consider that. edwardjeria: Thank you AlexandorsB13: Thank you Now quick update about previous projects: I had to make a break due to RL in May, than as you might have seen in my non NYBT thread, I started a little project just to get back into the game so I can finish previous stuff. Than, you guessed it, RL came crushing down on me again, and now after all that time I have tens of BATs to finish. I promise I'll try to finish everything by the end of the year, or at least most of it. I have started a new BAT in order to practice a bit and get back into it all. But mostly so that NYBT gets some back-up from me as well. Darknono and Aaron seemed a bit lonely here So without further ado, I present to you Maritime Exchange building also known as 80 Broad street (which is its address, DUH!) I expect to be done with modelling ASAP and texture and export it very very soon I still need to add some details, back side and fix a few things, but I hope you like it so far. Funny thing, this 117 meters tall building is virtually unnoticeable in the pictures of Lower Manhattan. Gotta love New York!

^ Brace yourself, Vlad's comments are coming... On a side note: That building next to 40 Wall Street (Schwab Building?)... how big is it in SimCity tiles? I'm asking because I think it's a lovely piece of architecture in its own right and might be a good candidate for 'recycling'...

What's that shadowy place over there? That's Sim City Societies, you must never go there.

Thanks guys, I appreciate your comments as always . Today a big update for the NYBT @Sten1700: Thanks .The American International should be online during october ( I thought upload the building for christmas, but several person can't supported this wait and risk a heart attack ), when it will be definitely completed, so, very soon . Actually, I fix the nightlight color. @Andrey Km: Thanks . The Woolworth Building is planified after the 40th Wall Street and the AIG Tower. It's a big project too, and I don't know when the building will be delivered on the STEX. This update is for the 40th Wall Street. The color have been improved, again, and I think it's an better approach of the reality. The schwab building was re-modeled too, and I think completed . Now I'm working on the small building at the west of the main building ( I don't know his name ). It's not yet on this picture but it's already begun . And another picture of the American International, with the news textures Enjoyed and say me what did you think

Thank You everyone!!! The bump map has really helped it I think. I keep looking at it wondering whether I should make the UVW Map smaller now that it has the bump map, the bricks just seem to big to me, what do you guys think?
  13. 2 points
Thanks guys that's all really helpful. Car colours - totally agree. I actually still need to work on the cars. There's only one model (A Volvo SUV). I didn't love making the car so I stopped at one, but need to go back and make some more. I'll spend a bit more time on the cars, and get their colours looking better Grass, quite right, these are mainly placeholders for the foliage, once the plants go in, either the grass won't be visible, or will be replaced with something else. Pool water... hmmm.... you're quite right. I think after a long day looking at it I was really happy with that outcome, looking at it fresh this morning and seeing your comments I totally agree, it looks flat and cartoonish. The only good pool water I was able to see online was Vray, and I haven't been able to see anything nearly as good with Mental ray - Girafe, that pool water looks perfect. I'll keep playing with the pool water today and see what I come up with. Thanks again! Edit: After seeing Girafe's Umbrella and Sunlounges, I'm going to remake mine.. mine don't look good at all by comparison

Thanks guys Well, I've spent literally all day trying to get the right looking results for my pools. I've tried every tutorial with caustics and refraction and noise and smoke and ocean lume... nothing looked like I wanted. In the end I made the materials up and ended with something so simple but I think really effective. There are two types of pools in the complex, a reflecting pool at the base of the building, and the two swimming pools, and both have quite different effects. Reflecting Pool The reflecting pool is a very thin layer of water, the distance between the pool base and the water surface is not very deep. The pool base is lined with the same dark concrete we have on the surrounds, The water itself is simply a procedural Arch & Design Glass (Thin Geometry) template. I bumped up the IOR slightly, to 2, Added a ripple texture I found online to the Bump map, set to 0.1. That's all it is. Here is the ripple and texture I used to complete this step: Edit: Section on swimming pools removed and will be replaced with a new section below.

I knew I wouldn't regret keeping chin strap and drool bucket prepared! Of course, it looks gorgeous. The only aspect I'm not that sure about is the general colour and brightness of the pool water. Technically, the pools look spot on now. However, that bright turquoise colour really stands out, especially since the surroundings are rather subdued and the flora you made is not that bright, either. However, things may look different once again as soon as the tower is in place.

@IL. Installing BAT4Max 5 Special note on UAC (User Account Control) in Windows 7 and Windows Vista. UAC in Windows7 blocks any write operations into “Program Files” folder. As a result neither setting not operation of BAT4Max is possible while UAC is turned on. So if you are running these versions of Windows please disable UAC prior to the installation of BAT4Max v5. After installation had been finished you would have 2 options – either keep UAC turned off, or turn UAC back on but allow to yourself (your user name) full control of \BAT folder Alternatively you may install 3ds Max outside of “Program Files” folder.

American International looks great. But I will start torturing you about 40 Wall Street very soon

Wow, those trees look amazing! Assuming that you're associated with VIP, can't wait for that to be an MMP

I have doubled checked my modding work and the only problem, I'm having problems fixing is the in the image below, every time I edit it on of the texture disappear from the LOD. Looks like I will have to live it the way it is. SimCoug, have checked my modding and he say some of the stats would need to be worked, but it's a a huge issue. I have lowered the number of Sims that can in the building just a little by just changing the filling degree.

Yeah, here we go I hope never see this bug on my further BATs . And with this good news, the work can restart, I improved small details for the Westin Peachtree. Add some stuff for the garage, add a F-250 , and prepared the building for work with the FAR road mod What did you think ?

In short:"We've seen your complaints and taken the issue to heart. Now, we're trying out best to respond to them without actually fixing anything that was wrong" Flying traffic and skybridges to overcome the buggy pathfinding - straight lines are a lot easier. Sims live, work and shop in the same building - less commuting to simulate, since it all happens on the same tile. Population unrealistically high - make big towers to justify the inflated numbers. Too small tiles - fit more stuff on the same lot to free up space for other things. They apparently didn't make enough on the base game and DLC - let's price the expansion pack the same as a regular, full-fledged game. Maybe they will address the desire for an offline mode as well. I guess they'll do this by actually running some calculations serverside, finally putting some thruth in their blabbering about "it won't work without a connection".

Yep a big thanks to Girafe and Delecto for this help, and Chase tower finally save . Now I should export the building, and maybe do the same thing for the night version Simply merge the building in a new scene and removed all camera and TB2 handle... Here an picture in-game, it's succesful one month later Now, I'm happy

I can't confirm with absolute certitude as I use 2010, but I'm pretty sure 2013 is supported. Aaron and Girafe use this version if I remember correctly.

Not only was this scene inspired by the Justin Timberlake song, Suit and Tie, but also by the upcoming release of the new video game, Watch Dogs. Enjoy
