About this City Journal

Welcome to Auckland & Greater Region II, all 198 massive tiles of it. My current area of development is "Clevedon Valley" a semi-rural, hilly area to the south-east of Auckland, comprising...

Honey... I blew up the Dam! Well it is lovely that you all think my dam is well lovely... but I have bad news... ...I blew it up! That's right you heard me... I BLEW IT UP. Well the seawalls anyway... ...but have not fear! Do not cry into your cornflakes! I have re-built it! Bigger! Better! Stronger... Yeah yeah... I got the JS stone seawalls... which I think look better in this more rural setting.

Flat, Humped and Recessed! PEG-PPond Culverts now in beta! Completely flat terrain... Flat terrain, with a small hump in road... Recessed stream (used 8m rail digger lot)... flat road... Recessed stream with hump in road... Make the hump by using the Mayor Mode hill tool... on the smallest setting (Shift-1) and with the grid on (G), click once in the North West corner of the grid square... Repeat in each corner, clicking once. Four clicks later... Re-join the road... and detail the terrain... The stream...

Donkey Engine Power

Donkey Engine Power Yeah I couldn't resist having a little mess around in Lot Editor again... just a 1x1 but a pretty useful 1x1 IMHO. The boys have fired up the old donkey engine, and connected the flywheel to a generator. I am not entirely sure if the set up is completely safety approved, but it does seem to work! The boys seem to alternate between chopping wood and standing around yakking. Full M.U.L.E. (Mountain UtiLity Extension) available here.

Uh oh... looks like someone got camera happy... anyway the idea is to see how these lots can be used in a variety of fully developed Mountain Theme Pack tiles. Everything from small to medium to large sized, rural / mountain communites. You will notice that we got a little bit 'flash' and blew the parking lot budget on the large high school... that actually got paved!

Ararimu - Filling in the Gaps ... but whats the empty area in first pic? No trees, no farms, nothing? Are you thinking something most excellent surprise... Well... let's see... The Poor Old Mill, is actually not doing too poorly at all. How about an open cast ore mine, and some factories? I mixed and matched the 'new' Fukitol Flour Mill and Clevedon Valley Cheese Factory using Fukuda's models, along with one of his original lots and added in a twist of SPAM produce sheds. A closer look... Road and rail...

Wairoa Reservoir - More Development Terrain detailing... God mode pine planting... so much faster than the old MM flora way! Medical landing strip Saw Mill Railway worker cottages It may be Maxis, but I really like this bridge. Needs terrain detailing underneath. Upper dam. More terrain detailing of the lower river required! Pond Air Take off! Yep... it is getting there. More terrain detailing of the rivers required...

Causeway Island

Causeway Island Right... moving along then... Preamble construction pictures .... There is a PPond Island Contest over at Simpeg to see who can make the best 16x16 island surrounded by PPond water... I recommend a look.. there are lots of great ideas by different people. I put four road tiles exactly 16 x 16 tiles apart and then dotted 1/4 Tahoe around it to sketch out the shape of the island. I used a ground lifter lot in the middle to raise the terrain and then used the mayor levelling and hill tools...

Hello my name is Craig and it has been freaking ages since my last proper game update... Well I have had this little idea of making a transit enabled ford, with the PPond stuff... and no I have not had to nag Pegasus for any new stuff I am making do with what I already have! Anyways let's go and find somewhere to build this thing shall we? Clevedon Bay looks good... we still have a bit of space up in the hills. Yeah like that levelish area in the river valley... Now first things first... If I am going...

Upper Tahoe Lake Resort Back on page 38 of my other esteemed pixelated production of pegamanical pride and prowess... I made a hydro lake... the Upper Tahoe. It is a very nice hydro lake with two hydro dams. I have not been up in that corner for a bit, but this evening I was compelled to go back... While I was minding my own business detailing yet another stream in the other corner of the Clevedon Bay tile, the city planner guy bounced onto my screen with wink wink, nudge nudge, gay abandon, to...

Aspen Terrain Detailing I have not been in the Aspen Tile for a while... the interesting thing about this tile is that it has been constructed entirely with the PEG Snow Mod installed. Anyway I noticed there was a section of the river below the lake that had not been detailed... a common problem in my tiles... Well let's get on with it then... The stream is icy but not completely frozen. Zoom out... ayup... looking good... Hmm... what else can I do while I am here....? Heli-skiing anyone? Medical Landing...

Redoubt

Redoubt Well must crack on... I have been rather conflicted lately... to play the game or to develop custom content... the problem is further compounded by the fact that every time I attempt to play the game, I think of new ideas to develop... or I go... I really need a F.A.R.M. or a R.U.M.P. or a R.A.V.E... Anyhoo... Redoubt is where I have been trying out all the new goodies that have been coming our way lately, both from my own LoteditorbetamaximserTM and from others. Redoubt is still a young tile......

Abcvs Hmmm... methinks I am intrigued! The region of Schulmauckland is located in the upper North Western corner of Auckland and Greater Region... presently it consists of nine large tiles. There is potential for expansion... after all... this region has a total area of 198 tiles. As can be seen development is in the early stages... surprisingly enough in Lower Right. Apparently the naming committee was in a bit of a rush so they kinda went with geographical location type names.... ...

Sch

Schönheit Castle Even Ambassadors need to get away from the pack at times, so on weekends when he is able, His Excellency Ambassador Wizard Prince Schönheit, slips away to his modest bach Schönheit Castle in Port Felix. It is generally referred to by the staff as "The Kennel" but generally not in the Ambassadors hearing or presence. *Bach (pronounced Batch, with the alternative of Crib in the southern part of New Zealand) is the name given in New Zealand to structures akin to small, often very modest...

Playing in the Sandbox I think I am becoming overly attached to my sandbox tile... Who says Maxis sucks? I also finally got around to getting the MTP water towers, and Paeng's junk yard. The concrete ford works well with the logging roads.

Port Felix

Port Felix Meanwhile... in the North Western corner of Auckland and Greater Region... with it's own terrain mod, and its own extra special plugins folder... lies the first of 9 large tiles, to be developed in benevolent co-operation with Schulmania.

Fire Circle Island

The mid winter annual Brass Butts Weekend is a popular event. Despite chilly temperatures the die hard faithful gather to cook sausages, toast mashmallows and drink hot chocolate, around the fire circle. Some of the more prissy attendees do motor back in the little steam launch at the end of the night to the cosy confines of their A-Frame cabins on the other side of the lake... but the true devotees snuggle up in their goose down sleeping bags, in the true winter camping experience. ...especially...

Eliminate the Impossible! Quote "I wouldn't have thought that to be possible." "When you have eliminated the impossible whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth." - Sherlock Holmes. If we all only did what we thought was possible in this game we would all still be licking our vanilla icecream cones down at Deppsies Diner, listening to those whiney advisors popping up every few minutes, reading the stupid news ticker... and swimming in acidic blue water while the underscaled cargo ship...
