Around the Valley II

As promised, here is a region view showing the main and important roads running through Capilano Valley. Highways are marked in red, avenues yellow. You can see now, how aptly named Capilano Avenue is, as it follows the Capilano River down a fair ways. It was originally the highway that ran through the region, but as demand grew the province decided it was necessary to build a bypass route, which is now the H3 that we know today. While the H3 is getting filled with commuter traffic each morning, there are...

High Mast Lighting

Here's some pictures showing the complaints about the lighting. Any thoughts on them? These are all along the H3. I promise you, in the next update I'll have a region map showing where exactly these roads I'm always blabbing about, are. Small commercial district, you can also see police headquarters in this shot. And Palps, No. Just further down the H3. Aaaand further down again. Sorry guys, not much of an update tonight. Tomorrow, I'll have more exciting stuff, region shots, etc. shots from around the...

Construction Continues

Following suggestions from both Capilano Valley citizens and you guys, I've added another few bays of parking, to help relieve stresses. Of course, the residents upon which the parking backs on to are none-too pleased. Check out the comments section in tomorrows paper for more. Here's just a shot of the revised seawall. Folks across the river seem to like it; what do you guys think? Go for this style? Slight change for v3.0? Capping off a rather light update, are just some more images from around town....

Construction Begins

Here's just a shot of what everything was like before construction started. Ok, the first step in the Mayors plan was to remove the large, unsightly transformer from the area and re-route the powerlines that travelled across the river. He proposed moving the lines under the bridge, and bringing everything underground after that. Save space, keep things looking pretty. Here's the look of things after the mayor had his way. Looks better, eh? Here's where the real construction begins. After a few weeks...

Around the Valley

Alrighty, here's the proposed location of the Monument, as laid out by Mayor Mandel. Right on the riverbank, and off Capilano Avenue. Fitting location, no? Some changes will need to be made, such as a relocation of the transformer you see near the bridge, it's a bit unsightly to have beside a park celebrating the city, IMO. My plan was for walking paths extending out into the strip of land, with a nice statue, or something similar on the bank. I'll lay it out in more detail on my next update. (Stay tuned!)...

Welcome!

Welcome to Sights Across Canada! This CJ will follow four small cities in Canada, from the slopes of the Rocky Mountains to the plains of the sprawling prairies, to the shores of the Great Lakes. Although it may at times deviate through time and into the counties around their respective cities, these four will be the headliners, so to speak. And just who are these four cities? Lets have a look... First settled by Chester Capilano and his family in 1883, the area soon took up a place as a Rocky Mountain...
