Hello everyone, today i present the utopia project, the first green city in Dimland.  It was an experiment of a city of zero Co2 footprint, zero crime, exclusively  depending on public transportation. In other words the city of the future.  So i ended up in some conclusions.
1) A green city is possible to be built in SimCity 4
2) Can be sustainable
3) The statistics surprised me
and i will explain why. First of all let's see the numbers

  • Population: 56.317
  • Crime: 4
  • Commute time: 0,1
  • Power Usage 8.000
  • Water usage: 30.000
  • Air pollution: 4
  • Avearge income: 120.000
  • Mayor rating: 95%
  • Traffic: auto-15.000  pedestrian-14.000  GLR-10.000

The city has the lowest crime rate, the commute time is unimaginable as i never achievied anything like that, air pollution is lowest  compared to any other city that i have built. Let's see the city a bit.

Green spaces, plantation, clean air, low level of noise pollution, therefore quality of life.

Wow, it's a pretty cool set-up. :) I guess the FLUPs allow the residentals to grow. Really interesting idea :) Thanks for sharing these images!

Yes indeed, without the FLUPs residentials can't grow. It is a compromise due to game mechanics. But still this is the closest to get to a green city in SimCity. Thank you.

Keep up! I did built an idealistic city like yours, but with higher income, low traffic, but not as large as yours and currently, doesn't switch to renewables. Another city is currently built with significantly less residential income (but will increase as more and more elites come to the city. In the future, I'll convert my existing low-wealth citizens to elites) but with large city profit, renewables (hydrogen), larger population, very high EQ, at-the-top life expectancy, and 50K+ high-tech industries.

Anyway, I appreciate your work.

Uou! I love this new futuristic project!*:) The alternation of plazas and parks is amazing, and I noticed you always handle this wisely, this new satellite city is a sourch of pride for Penthesili north/east expansion! I can't wait to see its development... Tomz

I would like to thank each and everyone of you, for your comments and the interest for this project. What i like the most in SimCity is the community and the fact that the possibilities are endless even though there are many game limitations. Utopia project is the proof that  a new approach in city planning can be applied. Now, it is time to apply these new principles in a really dense and polluted parts of the metropolis.

The city has a "Brave New World" feel which is different because it looks like the 21st/20th century but at its cleanest with regards to architecture. That MMP work is simple but works really well with the area, nice touch with the MMP street lights too. While I definitely need to download Mattb325's sunken plazas, they look incredible ingame. I wonder if they are compatible with the sidewalk replacement mods?

Really good job by the way.

p.s. I wonder if there is a sidewalk texture which could add to the aesthetics? Gobias has some...

This is just amazing! I mean, you could have done a city aiming only numbers trying to achieve your green city goals, but you are also worried about how it looks. That's very important everywhere in the world. You can have the best public transportation, but if your city looks depressing, your citizens will also be like that (not that this exists on SC4, but it's interesting). You managed to have both, a beautiful city with great public systems. Not sure if it would work in RL, but in Utopia it's fantastic *

The British Sausage  Novels and movies are always great source of inspiration.
Although technological progress have always have 2 sides, i prefer to stick to the bright one. I hope that one day people wil live on the planet as one, without conflicts, poverty, divisions. As the scientific knownledge expands, one way or another we 'll be forced to leave behind our superstions and work for a more idealistic society. This game give us the opportunity to create such places, at least in our minds.

JP Schriefer   indeed, I wanted to build a city that gives futuristic sense, without exaggerated  architecture. I think that is a down to earth city. But ..... to be honest i would like one day to try to build something like this.*:D
