This is unbelievable...I am only starting to tackle creation of an airport and I am a bit overwhelmed by it..when looking at yours, my mouth fell right open...

Your buildings are amazing, the city looks unbelievable...Excellent work! Oh, and that Teal and Red elevated thing is, but it is awesome and would love to know what it is!!!!

This.

This is EPIC.

Way to give Karasem a final shot :D This thing is insane and definitely has to be one of the longest and most detailed updates on Simtropolis ever! Props to you Dryan, you've certainly made one heck of an update, and one heck of a SEA City Journal :)

Karasem will be missed.

Bye Karasem, I did love the journal.

Also I think I know what that guy would say. "I'm going to Nakahara"

Nice final shot. Talk about ending an epic journal with an epic final update. Let me also send one final epic comment, you are one of the best city journalist and urban planners in ST, the amount of work you have presented here is an affirmative testament to that there is no need for self-loathing.

I wish I can also create cities are good as this.

Unbelievably amazing update! It's so huge! Everything looks perfect and detailed, and you've managed to really get the spirit of an emerging country to your city.

When I read about Karasem, I feel pain, not only because it is a unique CJ that has finally come to its end. Let me try to explain, as much for my own sake as for anyone else's.

I was, let's say, fortunate enough to be born in a developed country. Long before I was born, Sweden was transformed from one of Europe's poorest nations into one of the worlds richest, most industrialised and most egalitarian welfare-states. In a few decades, slums rampant with crime, cholera and tuberculosis were replaced with cheap, clean and efficient public housing. The economy boomed, and the population exploded. Unemployment was almost non-existant and working conditions radically improved.

Yet over a few decades we went from a society where almost everyone could walk, bike or take the tram or train wherever they would go, to a society where almost every family had to have at least one car, and less and less people knew their neighbours. Cynically put, Lortsverige (dirty Sweden) became, almost over-night, Tråksverige (boring Sweden). At least the car industry boomed.

I know it can be easy for someone from a developed country to advise others to stay behind. I am not attempting that. But development can be a brutal process. For our part, Sweden narrowly escaped destruction in WW2, only to recreate it ourselves in the decades that came after. Sure, slums aren't ideal places to live, but neither is huge public housing.

That said, Karasem has been one of the longstanding CJs and it is sad to see it end. It isn't one I've read all the time (and, I believe, haven't commented once), but one that I have always returned to, and one of the most interesting in its theme. In a very realistic manner, you have managed to pick out the atmosphere of a country in rapid development, and that has marked this CJ out from all the rest (that is not to mention the technical skills, with MMPs, with details, with lots and everything else, which have made every entry a pleasure to read.)

After a comment that became far too long, I wish you good spaces in Nakahara. And of course I have to wish the Karasemians good luck, now that they are completely on their own in this perilious world.

By the way, a region shot would be really appreciated! :)
