Nice work everyone, there are some beautiful cities here.
Gryphonite, I love the huge farms in your reigional picture. I'll check out your CJ.

I wanted to show a couple of regional shots from the same region I showed way back on page two.
I'm still trying to stay away from too many orthogonal roads, but it's easy to fall back into the grids. But I find I am getting better at gently curving roads the further I go.
<ahttp://img260.echo.cx/img260/4765/tomaptrans19bk.jpg align=baseline>
By following features such as rivers and ridges, I have tried to blur the seams of the city tiles.

<ahttp://img260.echo.cx/img260/6599/tomap22xh.jpg align=baseline>
I have also tried to have the residential areas bleed out to further blur the edges.

Nardo69 - I really like your use of Oppie's Canal Set

nirgal23 - Nice job using Jeronij's trail set.

kavselj - There is absolutely nothing wrong with your city.  I really like your use of trees.  The area looks very green and inviting.

Nardo69, your city's aesthetics are nothing short of amazing!! Canals really do make an impression; maybe I should download the canal pack. 3.gif

Thanx for your comments ... 43.gif43.gif43.gif

I usually use Kanals only if I can use them as mayor elements of the town - in this town the Kanal is the main axis.

When you download oppie's kanal set go to www.simszone.de (yes it is german but you should find the download section 19.gif) and download the Uferwege, too - I think they are from Andreas who is to be found here too)

They perfectly match each either 29.gif44.gif

psteverific,

Can we get a closeup of some of those roads? They look wonderful in the regional view, but I'm curious how they look in city view.

Thanks!

Some quite nice pics here, though i dont have anything to show yet that isnt in any of my CJ's, so i wont be posting any pictures, but feel free to visit them...
Shintose: Rural, story evo CJ
Fwandrei: Smalltown, development cj(disscontinued because of hddcrash, but the cj is still there)
Stondon: Prettey old(1yr) but quite a few skyscrapers and heavy development.
Stockholm Project... well, dont go there, its horrible...

Just to sum up... Note though, Shintose is the only one that is beeing updated, all others have been lost in Hardrive crashes... Do a Search for Xiziz or the Cj name, or press the links in my sig(only Fwandrei & Shintose)

Cheers
/Sim

Sure, I'd be happy to show you some close ups. Up close, they are by no means perfect, but once there is developpment around them, it becomes more forgiveable, depending on the angle and the type of road.

Anyway - here are the pics:

The small town on the continent. The railway line and the main road to the Island are beginning here.Frey01.jpg

The main road from the continent crosses thru this small town

Johnsonville

This is a small suburb community on a small map, connected to a larger city of 37,000 by a light rail line and a commuter rail line. The community was built upon an already existing town of dirty industry and farming - which was mostly preserved. The residential area was greatly improved with better urban design.

Some features:
-jobs - the existing industrial and farming jobs were actually expanded, not sacrificied for low-density sprawl
-a highly-used lightrail AND commuter rail system connecting to nearby Arcturus and Stronson Beach, with thousands of daily riders
-a well landcaped central plaza
-beautiful, walkable streets that residents take advantage of
-no crime, no pollution!
-all electricity is produced by a series of wind turbines on the ridge above the town. It's expensive, but has no pollution.

Here are the finished pictures showing off this beauty in urban design:

Low income apartments help to add to the vitality of the streetscape:

That thing is HUGE! How did you get your region so big? I have worked with the Map Editor, or whatever that program is called, so I know how to make a map so large, but how do you get them into SC4? That is REALLY an impressive region.44.gif
