Traveling between several cities
Skyfire replied to KeanoManu's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
For the Empty City thing, just a firestation or police station and a windmill will suffice. That way, the neighboring cities know there are jobs there. Make sure they're connected to the freeway via road. -
Ok. I thought it might be something along those lines. I'm still getting abandonment due to long commutes, but that's a seperate issue. Kinda annoying, really, since I did a lot of urban renewal to get that monorail in. I'll look at disconnecting roads to neighboring cities. Thanks!

I recently upgraded to the new NAM version, and my Sims have stopped using the monorail. They instead just want to drive or take the bus everywhere. Prior to installing the latest version, they would use the monorail for inter-city travel. I've installed the most radical version (10x/5x?) of the mods. Any suggestions on what may have happened? Thanks in advance. And thanks to everyone who did such remarkable work with NAM!

Date: 5/14/2005 3:00:30 AM Author: marrast I just love fooling around with stuff like this. So here's my pics. Nothing but modest, beautiful hwy desing quote> I know how to get half a highway, but how did you get them only one tile apart? Also, how did you get the overpass to not create a full-width highway underneath? If I cross over a half-highway, it turns it into a full-width highway. This is exactly the type of stuff I've been looking for. -
psteverific, Can we get a closeup of some of those roads? They look wonderful in the regional view, but I'm curious how they look in city view. Thanks!

I have the following MODs installed in my Plugins folder. I really don't notice much of a difference after about 100 game years. Do any of these MODs conflict? Plugin_DM_TransitSupermod_TrafficSim_PathfindingPERFECT_Speedx10_HiCapacity_v2_0 Transit_BugFix_RH_ExpandedOptions Transit_BugFix_Supp_V2 Transit_supp_1_2_0 Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Screenshots of what freeways in Simcity 5 should look like!

You were out of the Express/Collector's portion of the 401... way too far east. Hell, you're almost in my neck of the woods out that far east. Quite frankly, I don't know how the hell you missed it, as the 400/401 interchange (the 'Basketweave') is the second most noticable interchange in Toronto and is accessible through both the Express & Collector lanes in both eastbound and westbound directions. As well, traffic on the 401 is stopped DEAD at the 400 interchange at nearly every time of the day, both East & Westbound, Collectors & Express. The 401 Eastbound sign would have stated (on a blue background if you are in the Collector lanes or a green background if you were in the Express lanes): 0/ Barrie Next Exit Black Creek Drive 1 KM. Jane Street 2 KM You also would have passed underneath this MTO/401 Dynamically Updated Traffic Sign before you hit the 400 North Exit (and move through this congestion). ---------------- Well, it was 9:30p on the 13th of February. Traffic was moving really good, no congestion whatsoever. I was watching every sign for the 400 or Barrie and didn't see it. It doesn't help that Mapquest didn't include exit numbers. I remember seeing the electric sign(s), but never saw anything with a 400 on it. Oh, well. By the next time I'm out in Toronto, the 401 will probably have been rebuilt. -

And one more while I'm here. I guess I should've added it to the first post, but oh well. Someone in the Census Bureau needs to talk to someone else: Actually, I'm pretty certain this is a bug or something. This is the only city in the region that experiences this problem. The region view shows 87,789 as well, but for some reason, the line graph is always 10k higher. Only mods I'm using are transportation fixes v019 and the perfect pathfinding.
