My jaw's gone, too.  I just spent the last half hour reading this thread in its entirety.  This is one of the best BAT projects I've seen in a very long time.  I say that not just because of the staggering dimensions of the building, but the impeccable attention to detail that is going into getting the Burj Dubai (which I guess means 'Tower Dubai') into SC4 as realistically as possible.

Keep up the excellent work.  I will be looking for this when it comes out.

I just thought of this as well . . . this would look fabulous as a centrepiece for any city - especially the central city of my region, Sabreton.  When placed, I could change the name to 'Burj Sabre' ('Tower Sabre').  When you say the whole thing together ('Burj Sabre'), it sounds oddly like my user name on a few other forums.  3.gif17.gif

...regardless if this was supposed to look exactly like the real deal in rendering detail, it would go well in any economically sophisticated high-end city.

Stunning work Andisart!

Do you plan to create any other Dubai projects when you complete and release this one on the STEX

BTW, heard from the citizens of the Skyscraperpage forums that the Al Burj is projected to be about 3970 ft tall. Is that even technologically feasible?

^ Yeah, but you have to live in the desert.

I don't care how many verticle miles you put between yourself and the sand....it still looks about the same. 3.gif

Thanks 4 all your comments 4.gif  I dropped some jaws, hehe 10.gif

@haljackey: I don't know about the numbers yet. High obviously... I'm wondering if it is possible now to assign jobs and residents to a BAT at the same time now. Last year I know it wasn't.

@ilikehotdogsalot: If it helps I can give you the approximate lot size (have to make sure but I think it's gonna be either 21x21 or 21x22 tiles)

@ryanb_sc4: Thanks for appreciating the work that goes into my project 4.gif And yes it's right, Burj Dubai means Dubai Tower

@JDRCRASH: The plaza design is based on the real design. I changed only a few areas so far. I don't have pics or renders of all parts of the plaza so I will have to figure out some areas myself. To be honest I'm not sure what I will do after the Burj Dubai is completed.. There are a few Dubai projects I would be interested in doing, like the Al Burj. I will also be focusing on SimMars in any case. I posted a pic of the Al Burj on page 9 of this thread. It is quite amazing indeed. I also am wondering how this is supposed to work... such a height? Constructions is to start later this year. The Future is Now!

I'm gonna start the front plaza this weekend. One thing that bugs me is the Light Rig in MAX. It produces weird shadows and looks bland overall. Can someone provide me with a good light Rig for MAX? I read through SimFox' excellent Light Tutorial thread but the part with creating Rigs has yet to be continued and I don't know how to do it right.

Andisart, your work here is awesome. When the Burj is finished, there are so many projects you could do. There's many radical new towers going up in London and Paris, which desperately need to be BATed by an expert; there's the New WTC in New York, etc, ad nauseam...

But for now, you have done an astonishingly high-quality job with the Burj! Keep it up! We're all looking forward to the next updates!

Looks awesome, however I'm not sure whenever I will be using it, due to it's huge length ("eats up the skyline") and the 22 x 18 tiles ("eats up space", lol) Is it purposed as CO (so, yes: how many workers) or as R (so yes, how many inhabitants) or as a landmark?

No, of course not - andisart just spends months on it for fun, and when he is 99% done, he will delete all files and head off to make himself a nice cup of coffee.

I dare say as soon as it's completed, if and whenever that will happen. You might as well roll the dice and invent some fancy formula to interpret the results, they'll be about as accurate as anything anyone could say here - it's the same as for any other custom creation.

@Andisart: Construction to commence on the real Al Burj?

Now that I think about it, somebody from geocities created one, but thats the model which was originally planned at 2,400 ft.

3970 ft high....Is it worth spending so much money in oil profits for the city to build something on a scale that enormous?

@JWUC: Yeah, there aremany amazing towers being built. I might end up with a surprise announcement for the next project after the Burj though...

@caspervg: I will likely be including a landmark version. Also Res version is no prob. I would like to make a mixed verison the best however, res and com. That would reflect the real one.

@CarmineHilton: No, there will not be a smaller version.

17.gif  By the way: It's years already, 2 and a half now 6.gif

@JDRCrash:  Yes that is true, it was stated so by the developers not long ago. Check skyscrapercity.com forums for more info. I wouldn't BAT the large version until I see the revised design for it. I like the current desgin very much already, where can you get the AL Burj BAT?

By the way: The front plaza is done!

Its not possible to do a mixed use lot in SC4RH is it?

Great work cant wait for it to be uploaded.

Abot the Al Burj you can get it here:

    http://one.elley.jp/

Naturally based on the preliminary, old design.

    Keep it up!

hey whats this al burj thing? even taller than burj dubai??? yikes......they are asking for a disaster IMO.one bad storm could split those things in half, and you tell me what happens when 3700 ft of debree comes falling down on a big city.

pretty sure these things are very sturdy, although i worry about the bases. Cracks started appearing in burj dubai's base when it was not even a third of the way done

Yeah but this didn't have anything to do with the height of the building. If they built that high, I'm sure they know the structure will be capable of holding it. It's still wonderous how this is working..

Just want to tell you, altough you probably already know, that the real facade installations have started and Imre @ Skyscrapercity has quite a lot of good recent closeups possibly after some enchancement useable as windowtextures.
