I was wondering if anyone was up to the challange of creating the Frank Lloyd-Wright spire in Scottsdale, AZ. I thought it would look cool in the game. Everytime I drive passed by it at night, it looks really cool lit-up.

Here are some pics of the spire.

Every other December I get to travel to Mexico City and visit my family. The views from the airplane are astonishing and the metropolis' lights seem endless.

Here's a few examples that I haven't seen on the St exchange.

Angel De La Independencia (Angel of Independence)

The main cathedral which is sinking due to its position over the soft lakebed lands, and it was built by the spaniards with rocks from Aztec temples.

And Xochimilco (The Floating Gardens). The only remaining evidence of the lake where the Aztecs founded thier city; now turned into a very large park with colorful floating boats.

I have an easy request...
Could someone make customizable billboards like dusktrooper did, as a gmax model
but bigger, because I'd like to put big paintings of myself on skyscrapers.

It can't be too hard, can it?

Iv Looked touroughtly trough the EXchange and i have seen a big deficency in the # of INDUSTRIAL buildings. Since most of us dont know many industrial buildings, someone who is at a loss of ideas could modle TYCO building kits for miniature railroads to find interesting archatecture. To make a realistic building of this zone type, it is important to remember the following

1: Industrial buildings are desinged to optimeze functionality and manufactureing effecency. They are not made to look GOOD (atleast, not the same good that we think of with other zone types.)

2: Industrial Buildings often do not make any attempt to hide their workings that can withstand wether (see #1)

3: For inhanced realism, think about the selected industry you attempt to emulate it. What would be included in real-life buildings of this type? (example; Steel and iron industries need heaters to melt ore, air conditioners to keep the workplace at reasonable temperatures, a place to store water to quikly cool hot metal, waste SLAG storage area, and a place to hold a finished product awaiting shipping. Nedded is a place for ore to go IN, and metal to come OUT)

I was driving toward downtown Minneapolis and thought of how nice it would be to have a few of the buildings from the skyline in SC4. The two I would particularly like to see are the Wells Fargo Center and 225 South Sixth (former USBank Place). A few others that would be worthwhile are the Foshay Tower, USBank Plaza (former Pillsbury Center),AT&T Building, and the IDS Tower. I am trying to learn the BAT myself but have been unsuccessful as of yet. Some of you more experienced BATters might enjoy playing with lighting to create the stunning light effects on top of the Wells Fargo Center.

I don't know if somebody from our truly outstanding batters check out this thread, but nevertheless I'll post here. There's one thing I really miss in the game - newsstands... I think that the best design can be found in Paris, here're a pic of a kiosque in Champs Elysees

I would be really grateful, if someone would make it for our cities.

Idea for seasonal lighting effects...how about a building that does something like this in October:
DSCN000211.jpg

Details of the Prudential Building:
-Second tallest building in Boston with roughly 45-50 stories.
-All office space, with a rooftop restaurant, and a large shopping mall at ground level.
-Plaza in front has a large decorated tree during the holidays, i.e. Boston's equivalent of Rockefeller Center
-Displays GO SOX or GO PATS for major games.

Why should someone build it?
-Hasn't been done yet
-Boxy and straightforward to BAT, yet the rooftop oddities mean that it won't be another cookie-cutter skyscraper
-Provides an opportunity to bring realistic
seasonal effects and lighting to a major building, with the tree in December, GO SOX in October, and GO PATS in January.

Drawbacks:
Brings Simcity 4 one step closer to an end. As soon as somebody accurately models Boston, that will mean the game has been won, insofar as the American version is concerned. 2.gif

Hello there!

Wow! This place really changed from 2 years ago![:0]

More emoticons too....!!!

Well, anyways. I have seen a lot of new cool stuff in the BAT and modding forums. However, there are a few things that I haven't seen that I would love to see. So here are the challenges for ya.

1) Create a cilinder-like BAT building in which all the floors rotate. Like the new one in Curitiba, Brasil. It's called Suite Vollard.
http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/afp/20041216/lf_afp/afplifestylebrazil_041216213227
http://www.institutodopvc.org/english/esquadriprint.htm

2) Create bus stops that can be placed anywhere on sidewalks (and that actually work). They should be as big as a sign on the road. Maybe there could ba a variation with benches.

3) Create diagonal-friendly non-popable buildings. They should adapt according to the position of the road...

4) Create the seasons. Green trees that turn into red and yellow trees, than lose the leaves. Than the snow falls and accumulates. The snow melts and the trees are filled with flowers. It should be a cycle that should be attached to the whole year (you know.... it should make sense with the date that is shown).

Hope that's all possible. Here's the good aulde bunny for ye

I have a couple of requests - most of them from the city of houston, texas where I am from. I wish I could make these- but I lack the time and the talent to!2.gif

Number one: Tallest building in Texas and (I think) the 'South'

Number four: This building is from Waco, Texas - where I go to school. It was once the tallest building west of the mississippi at one point in time- built in 1921. Perfect for anyone who wants a small historic skyscraper in their city.

I second this request. I would love to see some generic construction lots with construction cranes from Lord Quillian's props.

I posted this on the mod forum first but i realized that it probably belongs in here. Here we go:

1. Diagonal elevated train stops, square shaped rail systems are ineffective sometimes and its hard to find good spots to plop stations without destroying development or making bisarre constructions when you need a stop on diagonal rail. Marrast has made some diagonal railroad stations https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?mode=files&filetype=BAT&Str=marrast%20diagonal%20prs%20set

2. Wasteland theme; abandoned buildings, destroyed buildings, overgrown buildings, trash, road tiles with trashed cars, destroyed highways, just anything that could be used in a wasteland scenario. They doesnt need to be functional just as long as there is a wasteland feel to it. Im a great fan of the Fallout games, maybe some models could be fetched from there i know there are some guys making a Fallout mod for Civilization 3 using models from Fallout Tactics.

Pictures following, the buildings should look a little more run-down than the ones in the second picture.

I would love to have the Bank of America Corporate Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. It's the tallest in the charlotte skyline.

I think it would be very useful to have a large hospital for large cities. With a patient capacity of around 8-10 thousand. i was thinking of about 6x8 tile size to make it realistic.

In a recent city ive had to place many large hospitals only to have them fill up to like 200%. it would be great if someone built a large hospital. if u dont mind email if anyone actually builds it. good luck44.gif

Personally it'd be great to see some of the buildings from Sydney done. Yes, we need the Opera House, but that's an undertaking-and-a-half...

Some of the skyscrapers in the skyline would be great to have, as they're generally quite generic designs which look good. Sydney's one of those cities that could be anywhere if it wasn't for the Opera House, the Bridge, and Centrepoint. I already have the bridge (thanks to maxis!) and centrepoint (can't remember who did it, but thanks to whoever did).

No, what I'm talking about is some of the other towers in the skyline. the more simple ones, that really aren't a stretch. I'm aware that there are some buildings in the game's tileset that are similar to some of the towers in Syd - if anyone knows which ones they are, a simple PM would be appreciated with what they're called in the game and which ones they look like.

I'm not talking about every last one, either. Just a few of the standout and prominent ones.

The best place to look for suggestions would be Emporis (I've provided a link below to the Sydney sub-index).

http://www.emporis.com/en/wm/ci/bu/?id=100503

To anyone who does these, thanks. I assure you that these buildings, done well, would be widely appreciated.

Just like to put in a say for Liverpool and the North West of England!

Liverpool's TWO cathedrals,
The Three Graces (aka the Royal Liver Building, The Cunard Building and The Port of Liverpool Building),
Bolton Town Hall,
The Trafford Centre,
Blackpool Tower,
Willianson Memorial at Lancaster,
and finally some sort of Mill pack. You know the ones. The Cotton Mills with the big chimneys! They would really go with the terrace packs!

images for Liverpool

images for Greater Manchester (this is for Bolton THall and the Trafford Centre)

and other Northwest pictures for those who are interested!
and for images do Press Centre>image bank>buildings and bridges! and you will get 26 pages of North West arcutecture!

Really iconic buildings from The Northwest of England!!!!

Go on! Get some UK buildings on the list!
