You are the god of plugin folder organization. I wish I could do that. I would LOVE to do that. How do you know what is props and do you split props for certain lots you download. Lets say you download a building and it comes with a BAT, props, and a lot. Do you send them to seperate folders?

YOU ARE A GENIUS, also everyones playing style in these journals make my style look elementary. I have almost no planning except for a partial grid network and bus system!

Hi David,

I think it's the first time anyone compared me (or I should say AVR) to a Chilton book! 18.gif

Not sure though that the younger crowd will catch the (very flattering I might add 43.gif ) comparison!

I know that when I had my old Geo Metro, (had it for ten years) It paid for itself very quickly!

OK OK...Back to topic

So, great tutorial so far, and you're so very right about the CTRL-S reflex! And not only in games!

And yes the dreaded last piece who wrecks our carefully (or so we thought) plans! How many times have I, shall we say, invoked the saints! 26.gif

Anyhow, it was a great read, looking forward to more of this, and thanks for the compliments!

Take care my friend

There's a work-around with that.

I generally find that plopping 3 or more single tiles will always lock it on that level, no matter what. [that effect is gone when you bulldoze it, though]. What I mean is that once you have 3 single road tiles on one piece of flat ground next to each other, it will generally stay at that level. There are exceptions, though.

Hi there! Well, I have to say that you're the God of Tutorials! You've posted several tutorials that are extremely useful to me, for example suing civic buildings radius to construct round roads... that is really some discovery! I doubt the EA games people thought about this before 9.gif

This CJ is rather unique to me. Half CJ sotry telling, half excellent tutorials. Keep up the good work!

Terry (and all), I can't take credit for the civic building/round road technique.  I believe that credit should properly go to Shadow (Shadow_Assassin) and his use of it in his great CJ The Savannah Way.  I plan to explore using the technique here in the future on 3RR, as well as other ways of creating more realistic transportation mode radii.

Hey, in any event, thanks for being a 3RR reader, and I hope what I'm doing here continues to be of use.

Looking forward to the next update, as always. This is the first CJ I've followed from the beginning, incidentally. I've happened upon the birth of several others, but all of my favorites were established before I found them. Except for this one, of course.

Hi, 3RR readers.  My images may be down at least part of today (Saturday, the 15th) and possibly tomorrow, as I fix some server problems.

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you use the time you would have spent here to check out the many other great CJs out there, or to work on your own.

    Have a great day!

    David

    Now here's a twist I did not expect! ;p

I figured by the way you've been talking of all the tutorials you have planned, that there wouldn't be enough room with your four large cities.

    Can't wait to see more!

dedgren, can you show how to add additional city squares to your region after you've already begun building on your region without losing previous work

as you've done in that last pic

Your region looks very interesting, I love the attention to detail you put into carving through hills with the highways and railroads. Love the boulders and rocks that are around the river banks, very realistic, can't wait for more!

Wow, you've extended TRR! Well, I can't wait to see how you terraform the rest of the empty city lots...  Pineshore looks awesome at region view because of the realistically placed farms!

    Keep it up! 44.gif

Great tutorial once again. It's fun to read and very detailed. And I've just found out that I hardly ever use shortcuts - considering the time-consuming process of scrolling up and down the list to select the road tool, that's a mistake. Great effort there, David.

Oh, and I like the teaser picture. Nice city so far, I'm looking forward to some close-up pictures. Btw, my only concern about your city was that maybe the map could turn out to be too small... but now you've expanded, great job.

    Take care.

It's been a couple weeks since the last update, and the pics haven't been working the last couple days. Is the CJ dead?

    Hi, everybody-

No, 3RR is not dead.  My health has actually been sort of the issue, as I've had a number of challenges to deal with over the past month, and work has just taken up the rest of the time available.  I just haven't been online very much for about the last 10 days or so- but that happens to all of us once in a while.

My server (where the pictures are located) has been off the air while I am having some remodeling done.  I should have that situation corrected by the end of the coming weekend.  The continuation of the ongoing update is actually complete, but I can't post it until the server is back up.  Same goes for the mail, as I have a number of items that involved pics.

In short, 3RR should be back online during the coming week, with some new stuff to look at.  I appreciate everyone's patience and continued interest.

    David

    David,

Good to know. I hope you're feeling better. Giselle opens tomorrow (in 21 hours actually, 8pm EST). It should be very good and we've almost sold out every show!

I can't wait for the rest of the update.
