The HSRP was updated to 2.1? I just re-downloaded it yesterday and the installer said v1 so I am going to assume that it is version 1, I have downloaded it from the lex and the stex they both said the same thing.

Sounds like the installer may have an inaccurate version number in there.

I just checked it on my end . . . it's referencing an outdated IID in the release version, mainly as the last version was in 2009.  Beyond that, there's some significant RUL issues with it in some rotations.

I've attached something to fix the weird squares on the models--just unzip it to your HSR folder.  But the RUL issues require us to update the NAM Controller . . . and that won't happen until our next set of releases, whenever that ends up being.

I put the file in the plug ins folder and loaded the game and redrew the RHW that went under the HSR and it was still the colored blocks.

I've just double-checked the file, and it appears to be okay.  If you're still getting colored blocks, it's a load order issue.  The location to which you unzipped the file must not be one that would cause it to override the messed up version in the HSR files.  Try creating a folder called "z-HSR Fix" in your Plugins and unzipping it into there.

The game loads plugins that are in folders later in the alphabetical order last, and if duplicate subfiles are found, the one that comes last in the alphabetical order gets used.

Looks like you got the HSR files loading before the NAM files. The way to fix it would depend on your plugin folder structure. If you have a separate folder for HSR, you can rename it by putting a "Z" in the front of the name. Or you could put the HSR folder in the NAM folder. Either way would make the game load the NAM files load before the HSR, and the pillars should not appear.

allright, I have a question that may have been answered, I've tried skimming through all the pages in this thread but couldn't see it any where...

how do I build a HSR bridge?... when I try to drag it over a river, it just turns into a monorail track... is there a file I need to download first?

**edit**

nevermind... figured it out :P

I was wondering, where did the design for the HSR tracks come from? I've looked all over the internet and I can't find a single picture of a track that looks like that.

I can't get anybody to travel. Also if I draw a HSR track over a road/rail/whatever, nobody can travel on that road either. It seems to have no path/transit data at all o.O

Do you have a right-hand drive or left-hand drive game. Did you install the correct NAM and HSR versions to match your game?

Yes I did. It must have been something to do with the game, left hand drive like you say. I used a no CD patch. I got it on steam and everything has started working. Now I own three copies....

Make up your mind. The Steam version does not require any patches at all.

In the past, many people have been reluctant to use the HSRP networks due to performance issues - the Sims just didn't them very much.  The reason for this was that essentially all the HSRP stations were modded incorrectly.  This problem is fixed in the current version of the NAM (31.2), where all the stations included in with the NAM are modded correctly.  If you use only these HSRP stations on your networks, you will find that these networks will work fine now.

Other than appearance, what's the point of HSRP?  Is it not just monorail in disguise?

I'm building a LARGE region. It's going to have rail and stuff going through it and all around it. There's already a heavy rail line connecting the whole thing. Eventually roads and highway will be more prevalent outside the city areas. The final stages of regional transportation will be HSR connecting to all the major population centers.

Half of HSRP is GHSR, which is at ground level.  The ability to move from ground level to elevated and back gives it a big advantage over monorail.

But yes, the underlying network is monorail.

Thanks.  I might give it a whirl on my current region in which one of the "rural" cities has decided to grow like a weed into the regional capital.  The pop. has jumped from about 20K to 180K in about two sessions.

Assuming you have the current version of NAM, if you're dragging orthogonal HSR, it should convert automatically. If you're using a diagonal HSR route, you'll need to use the puzzle pieces that can be found by using the 'TAB' key after selecting the HSR icon.

Rather than HSRP, I've been using the "Ground Rail to Elevated Rail" hack.  Yes, I know, strictly two separate systems... but it works, and looks decent enough... and lets me save space in high-density population centres by using the elevated rail-over-road system.

Just putting a throught out there with the HSR mod could there be a Maglev train mod that replaces the HSR trains. The Maglev's are faster and look way more cooler than the HSR trains. :)

It is possible to have another skin for your trains. This changes the appearance of the train (for example: my 'monorail train' looks like the German ICE). It won't change anything about the speed of it, though. You can look in the STEX on this site or under the category 'Mods - Transport' on the LEX on SC4D.

Just wanted to know. I saw in the tutorial on youtube that the HSR start piece was placed, monorail lines were drawn from in and appear as HSR 'rails', and then the HSR starter piece was demolished.

I wanted to know if the HSR starter piece needs to be deleted or whether it can remain as part of the track?

cheers

You can leave the starter in place and the rails will work like normal. The reason it's deleted is probably because starters are slope intolerant (they require flat ground) and because you can't intersect them with anything else (like a road going underneath).

You can test the functionality of the starter by a UDI mission, but I can guarantee that starters can be left in place just fine with no ill effect on the network. They are technically puzzle pieces (I think), just like TuLEPs or roundabouts, and thus function like a normal network tile.

My vote in the poll is strictly theoretical.  I use monorail for intercity work.

Sorry about the double-post, but I would like this to be known.

The 30th street station I modelled is now completed and is at the next step. But i cannot export it because the BAT addon script itself wouldnt install on my computer, leaving me with an GMAX copy with no way to export it to see whether it looks good in sc4.

That being said, Im still investigating into the bat4max addon for my 3dsmax, but we ll see how that works out. I feel like I have to let you guys know one caveat about this:

this station is gonna be huge. at last count, the building itself is 13x13 tiles. Thats without any additional transport (this building I made with the intention of enabling it as an railroad station along with HSRP to enable NAM's underground railroad). I may proceed with this turning this lot into an multimodal transit center. But, it remains that I worry about the fact that this will take an obscenely huge area in your cities; my city-building style is primarly focused on the mid-rise cities. Even for me, theres no spot for it in my downtown-- not all 13 by 13 of this. (and thats before I lot this)

I did not realize until it was too late; now I m not sure whether I should proceed with this model. IF you guys want to see this come to fruition, even with the size, I will do so. I feel conflicted because this is my first big model and Im proud of it; yet I cannot export it and its huge even on SC4 standards.

I learnt from my lesson and will scale down accordingly for my next models. Hopefully those would fit into the landscape much better than this one. I really do regret the oversight.

Without further ado, heres the picture of the final model:

did you ever finish the 30th Street Station project? id like to add it to my city if so

Given the user in question doesn't appear to have made any uploads, I think given the time past we can safely assume that no it didn't get finished.

Head over to my Lot and Mod Shack to keep abreast of my latest developments.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

New to the NAM? Check out my tutorials on YouTube. Latest upload: How to: RHW - MHO Roundabout Interchanges. (Nov 25).

p.s. - I'm MGB over on SC4D and a member of the NAM team.
