I am neither technically challenged nor an 'old fart' but i am plain lazy so installers are great!

Oops, I didn't mean to start a ruckus... sorry guys!

On the installers... I put the things in the folder first, and then the installers came out.  Knowing where some of the things were and where some weren't, I was afraid to delete anything.  So I still put the stuff in manually.

Well, enough out of me about the installers.  Ciao for now!

I'm looking forward to the Summer of NDEX, guys! The AO Tovitt Tower is one of your best yet - and I think the nightlighting looks great.

The NDEX Essentials installer was a good idea, I think. I appreciate the fact that you guys avoid installers and prop packs, but it gets difficult to manage files like this. I think it will make things easier all around - although you should get a version up for our Mac friends.

Just wanted to give you a little feedback. Looking forward to more great work - all summer long. Yeah! 9.gif

Great work guys, you create some of the best BAT content available.

I appreciate all your hard work in keeping NDEX dependency free and dont mind the installer for the essentials file at all. After all i love your stuff so much that i would use it all even if there was loads of dependencies.

thanks again and keep it up 44.gif

For all of you wondering what the heck happened to NDEX? (team members included), I am officially handing over position of lead tweaker to whoever is willing to take it.  I believe Ardecila has indicated he is willing to take the job, and so when he is ready I will show him how I do what I do, and once that's done, NDEX will have a new leader, and will resume better-than-ever-before release rates.  I'm sorry to have killed the Summer of NDEX this far, but I'm sure when the next tweaker is ready you'll be happy.  2.gif  As a note: don't expect Ardecila and I to be ready to swap roles within the next few days or something; he (and maybe myself, I'm not sure yet) are helping to code the SimCity 4 side of DM's new DatGen.

Anyways ... what made me decide I would hand over my position?  Well, several reasons.  Firstly, I have found a girl who I have become very close to and she has taken the upper hand in terms of my priorities, to be honest.  Secondly, I am tired of people and all their bitching about the BSC and their dependancies or whatever it is people choose to complain about - people need to cool off and get a grip; remember what you are downloading makes the lots so much better, installers supposedly make it easier to install downloads, so on and so forth - I wish people would take things a lot less seriously around here; it's just a game!  Third, I started a new region while my new girlfriend was away in Australia over the past few weeks, and I discovered that SimCity 4 is an awesome game to play!  Lastly, I'm into other games now too, such as Forza (100% of arcade mode and exactly 99% of career mode completed; 13,564,000 credits so far after 70 hours racing time), Painkiller (just plain awesome & fun ... nothing much else to say), and Enthusia (just started this one) - if you haven't heard of Enthusia and you're a racing game fan/own a PS2, I suggest you look into it; it's awesome!  All this is not to mention the summer school class I'm taking.

I guess you could say I'm burnt out on tweaking for now.

I will still be around occasionally - I'll still do any scripting for rewards and that sort of thing (although I suspect Ardecila will be a better and more thorough LUA coder than I am if he decides to learn it) - but for the most part, the next tweaker will pretty much take care of everything.  I also will continue updating older NDEX lots - a seemingly-endless process, lol.

All the members of NDEX should be happy to hear this, lol, seeing as how I have been around so little lately.  :-/  Sorry about that.  I intend to see to it that this time of minimal releasing is made up for in the near future, though.

Yeah, good luck with your life, and stuff, EQ. In this case, I guess it is now ok for us to do prop packs, then(since you DO agree that dependencies can make things better).

Anyway, good luck also to whoever is going to be the next tweaker(Ardie, probably), since you have a massive load of stuff waiting for you.

Shame to see you step down, but if you're still around, I guess if you're updating lots, you'll still be around if we/Ardecila needs help, you're always there for him/us.

Stick around, and I bet you'll be back in action after summer holidays! 3.gif

Thanks again for being so awesome, and I wish you the best of luck with the girl2.gif36.gif

Ahhh, a girlfriend, that explains everything! 2.gif No, seriously, real-life is more important than a game, so I wish you the very best for the future. Just drop in once in a while whenever you have the desire, you'll be always welcome as a valuable member of the community, with all the knowledge you've been gathering over the past few months. The same goes for you, frogface, you've created some amazing stuff in the past which I really admire. Take care, both of you!

hahahaha, well, thank you all for being so understanding.  I especially like Blackbeard's comment.  29.gif  I'll be around, of course.  It'll be weird to talk to people on MSN for non-business reasons though, that's for sure.

Frogface, I'm sorry to hear that, from the deepest parts of my heart.  It struck me the other day that NDEX needed to be a far more well-balanced affair, with more releases from members other than who the team's releases are already dominated by, and you came to mind in particular.  I hope you, nor any of the other members, have not taken any offense to that, as I love all of your creations a lot, and wasn't putting them off or anything of the sort.

Again, I apologize for the delay in announcing this (I wanted to make 100% sure this is what I wanted to do before announcing anything).

Dusk: careful there about the prop packs issue!  I never said we wouldn't do them ... actually, I think I did decide that firmly, didn't I.  Oh well.  It's up to Ardecila/the next tweaker whether or not the team will keep the promise I made.  Personally I wouldn't mind it so much if there was a whole lotta props and they all were incredible.  Otherwise, I say no (I think I still retain founder's rights, don't I? lol)

Seeing as how I'm mentioned in the last 10 or 12 posts, I should probably chime in... 3.gif

I'd be happy to take over the modding/lotting duties of EQ. There are a few wrinkles that need to be worked out, because NDEX was pretty much organized around him doing the post-render work.

EQ - we should have a chat, and soon....

Sorry to hear you're leaving EQ but I'm sure you've made the right decision, RL is definitely more important than SC4 which is, after all, just a game but a very absorbing one at that.  You'll be missed but hopefully Ardie can step into your shoes.  Congratulations on meeting the girl of your dreams and thanks for all you've put into NDEX.

Sorry to hear you're leaving as well Frogface, your British BATs have contributed a lot to the game.  Will you still be continuing your excellent CJ?

    Hello, Equinox and FrogFace.

I don't have a long history here on Simtropolis only being a member since December, 2004.  Nonetheless, I've come to respect the two of you very much -- not only for your creativeness and contributions to ST but for your personal style and willingness to help as well as being quite approachable.  (Whew!  THAT was a long sentence! < grin > )

I am going to miss both of your presence here in ST but certainly understand that the real world and real life does exist -- that is, life outside of Simtropolis.

I certainly wish you all the best in all of your endeavors and do hope that life treats both of you kindly.

I've one question for you both -- if, at some future point, I get up enough courage to try and build a lot myself (I'm not sure I'll ever attempt BATting!  < grin > ) and, would like to use something from your lots, what would be the best way to contact you for permission?  Will you still be a member of ST and read posts or, should I PM you or ... ?

Again, all the best to both of you and take good care.

    Regards,

    Vandy

In the end you will see, You is you and me is me.

OK, NDEX members - starting next Sunday morning, I'm going to be out of town for two weeks, between a vacation and another event that I'm going to.

What I request is that, if you want a BAT released before I go away, you must send me the BAT model ASAP. I will take submissions until Thursday, and then I will try to modd and release as many as possible before Sunday.

    Thank you.
