The reason you have not got industrial growth is because the oil refinery, mining plops etc all have jobs. Fukuda's bistagne mine pit 2 for example has 1200 ID jobs so when you plop it you flood the market with these jobs. Plop a couple of these and the market has probably become saturated so any industry that you zone in addition won't grow until you build the residential population to fill these positions. Back up your region, try deleting your plops and see if your industrial zones will grow. To see which plops have jobs just query them.

The problem is two fold really. Firstly the saved regions are a lot bigger than SC3000, note I said regions there, you can't download a city tile in isolation anymore as each city is more and more dependant on whats going on next door. So you would need to download an entire region to get how the city was intended to be displayed originally. Now just looking at the region I am just about to start (currently undeveloped) its topping out at 25mb. Now as I develop thats going to sky rocket so the question becomes, Who would be willing to host lots of massive files? The bandwidth required to keep something like a 'city exchange' going would probably bankrupt some people! Both ST and SC4D are donation sites as it is! I hope that helps! I would recommend to get yoruself started grabbing a map from the STEX, getting it set up in game, there is a tutorial somewhere, and start building!

When the STEX search function starts working again have a look for a set of parking lots by ardecila. Personal favourite of mine, 3 in the pack and very well done... EDIT - Its working again, try these

I stand corrected Brenda, those buses are very space agey, in the UK we just seem to have old stuff! I was going to suggest the idea that Glenni suggested as the cover would appear to move as the wheels turn but then you hit a couple of good points, the wheels don't actually turn in SC4 and even at the closest zoom i guess any faint line wouldn't appear! As for the lack of hydrogen fuel stations.... try this one on for size
-
I hate to be a spoilsport as I think your work is brilliant but i have a small issue with the bus.... With its front wheels covered how does the bus turn corners? The wheels would hit the covering? A rear steering bus wouldn't really work... sorry to point that out...

I think it is used in a more sarcastic derogatory sense. In the example of my name it was sort of the dime bar way in which people associated my surname with a French town. I guess other examples could be 'no s***, sherlock'(?) Sorry my post is all over the place but its like when a really slow mate finally gets plans or understands something that you were talking about like a joke or some scandalous secrets/gossip about two mates who hooked up on the sly after a heavy night out.... Does that make sense? I think i confused myself!

Le_Harv comes from a bunch of reasons to be honest. 1) My surname is Harvie and everyone calls me that or Harvs 2) In 1998 my mate was sailing to Le Havre in France, the penny dropped so i got called le_harv 3) Sometimes known as DJ Le_Harv, the worlds most fraudulent DJ... (as the girls of Calgary, Canada found out... nudge nudge wink wink), my cousin is also called Harv so when hanging out he is called Harv and me the above, we tried little Harv for a while as I am 8 years younger than him but i am also about a foot taller so it didn't work! 4) Reason being is I once said out of the blue when drunk whilst talking to myself in a mirror 'I don't give a [censored], I'm DJ Le_Harv and I have great teeth. 5) So T-shirts say DJ Le_Harv and Le_Harv is my screen name.

dzCepheus EDIT: Ok my STEX links aren't working but u get the idea!!! I kind of think I know what you are getting at. i find it really irritating using 'side of the road' bus stops as it breaks up my neighbourhood. In suburbs though it can look good as space is not at a premium, in which case i use this set by Simgoober. Just make sure u have all the dependancies listed in the readme that is in the zip file. http://stex.simtropolis.com/lots/simgoober/simgoober_suburban%20bus%20stop%20set/SG_Bus%20Stops%20Day.jpg align=baseline>http://stex.simtropolis.com/lots/simgoober/simgoober_suburban%20bus%20stop%20set/SG_Bus%20Stops%20Nite.jpg align=baseline> However I mainly use this set by Uroncha. Both subway and bustops for on road building including diagonals and intersections. They are incredibly versatile and relatvely unheard of! Aesthetically pleasing too. I like to have a unifrom look to my transit system so that bus stops and subway are easily recongnisable. No offence to Cogeo (above) who did a fantastic job with his set, i find these work a little better for me(Its the diagonals and intersection stops that i love). teh only downside to these is that if you have road turning lanes with the NAM addon then the turnign lanes don't match up but i think i got round it by simply laying the road again. Also as a brucie bonus you can have them euro texturised, if u dont want that then simply delete the appropriate file in the download! http://stex.simtropolis.com/lots/uroncha/uroncha_diagonal%20%20intersection%20roadtop%20subwaybus%20station/Bus.jpg align=baseline>http://stex.simtropolis.com/lots/uroncha/uroncha_diagonal%20%20intersection%20roadtop%20subwaybus%20station/Subway.jpg align=baseline> You could go one further to ensure the buses stay on the roads that u want them too by using the bus blocker by Morifari. the following is a quote from the STEX upload of this file 'These lots block bus traffic, while allowing all other forms of transportation to pass. I have always been annoyed by the game's lack of proper bus lines. Sims drive buses around like their own cars, instead of following proper lines. By blocking off side streets to bus traffic to create bus corridors, and only placing bus stops along the corridors, you can come a step closer to a realistic bus transit grid. Included are versions for road, street, avenue and one-way.' Now to me that sounds just the ticket for you. http://stex.simtropolis.com/lots/morifari/morifari_bus%20blocker/scr3.jpg align=baseline> I hope I helped in some way. I think these tools will sort you out! Regards

Wow, that is an incredible way to describe the 'game' that is managing your plugins! I don't actually play the game anymore, its like an intervention, i have just realised i have a problem, i spend all my time managing my plugins and don't play the game. Quick send me to rehab! Seriously though T Wrecks that piece you just wrote is an inspiration to seasoned players and noobs alike. (just wish i knew this back in the day before i started playing, bit like the project management course i went on, all great telling me how to manage it properly but i have almost finished the project!!?!?) Ok enough rambling, Good luck simmerdown

Ha ha no biggy, but I am sure it was minor blonde moment! See it here . He wanted to refer the creator and not add the crane to the download! -
AS I really like your stuff so far, without being insulting, its so non-descript it fits the game perfectly! You also apply a level of humour that ties in perfectly with the humour style of Maxis. None of that is meant to be insulting. Keep up the good work. I like the direction you are taking now with the 50's gas station and 80's cocktail club! They will be great in little cities. I see a lot of potential with your work. You also took the best route by starting small! I shall watch with interest. These little stores remind me of a roadtrip i took in 2003. One leg of it was driving from Calgary, Canada to Spokane, WA. I stopped at a random little town in Idaho called Mesa which had literally a small general store and a car repair garage very similar to the one you released recently. Nostalgia over, i will provide feedback as you progress! EDIT I just though of something you could do in this vein, a motel? Like the existing maxis one that would be great. We have enough branded ones from simgoober etc but a non-descript one would be great as a low wealth lot. Regards Harv
