31, Anchorage, Alaska. This is my first sim city game and i am enjoying it. I work for an electric wholesale company. (we sell wire, poles, transformers, substations, etc). I seem to be addicted not only to this game, but the message boards as well. I also play drums in a band named WUPT. Yep, 4 married guys in a band, i think that is the appropraite name. Happy city building.

I'm 22, and work at a hotel in the resort-rich mountains of Western North Carolina. I live outside Asheville, the most beautiful city in NC, and I love nothing more than to go spend time in downtown Asheville and Hendersonville, read, write, harass my cats, garden, hike, and play RPG's.

Hello to everyone. I decided to join this forum after reading this thread. After browsing other forums, this one seemed to be the friendliest, and most mature.

My company builds special purpose machines for manufacturing various products (Computer Aided Machining). I've been a Sim City fan since the first one, and look forward to being a part of this community.

Hi All, Male, 27, I'm from Scotland. This is the first time I've played SimCity, it's highly addictive! Much to my wifes annoyance!! I'm half way through my degree year at Uni, Software Engineering. My name came from my dog (big suprise!!) Since he was called Benji, I'm the second version. Going to see if my sims are still wanting agriculture!

Hello everyone!

Thought I'd better add my name to the list of new citizens of Simtropolis. I'm a 46 year old Air Traffic Specialist living in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada...(most will need a map for that one!)

I've been simming with Sim City since the days of my Commodore 64 (you'll need a very good memory for that one.)

Actually got away from it during the Sim City 3000 version; but my son got me hooked again with Sim City 4. Other games of choice right now...Flight Sim 2002, Tiger Woods 2K3, Madden 2K3, James Bond Nightfire and Warcraft 3.

I'm currently running on a P4/1.6 and have been having good luck with the game performance, although my cities have been smaller in size so far.

I'm a divorced, part-time parent of two teenagers....so my computer time is limited by THEM! Anyone who has teenagers will understand!

Keep up the postings and happy simming!

Hello everybody!! Here is the Info on me! My Name is Ty. I am a 23 year old who LOVES SC4! The main thing that attracted me to this game is my job in real life. I work in my hometown of Pleasant Grove Utah in the Water and Sewer Departments. Since starting this job 3 years ago, I have developed a real fascination about how cities work and how they are developed. This game seems to follow real life city development. That's why I like it so much! Simtropolis is the first Internet forum I have ever joined and it is awesome! I am also a college student studying Psychology.3.gif9.gif24.gif22.gif21.gif

Hi! I'm Mike, 13. Tieing for youngest... I'm a student in Wisconsin. I am obsessed with sim games (have 18 - off the top of my head...) and currently with Metroid Prime for GCN (even more off-topic than this topic). I want to try TSO but I don't want to spend the $10 a month. Guess I don't have much more to say because I don't have an "exciting" 2.gif job like most of the people here so see ya. 1.gif

Well I seem to be by far the oldest of those "coming out" on this thread - I'll be 71 this weekend - guess I must be the forum's Granny!
Born in London, but have lived in New Zealand since 1957.
My computer experience goes back to the Commodore 20 and my first Maxis game was Sim Earth. Love "The Sims" and have all the ex packs except Living Large. Play other types of game as well but am not into shoot-em-ups or driving games.
It's great to see what a wide area of the world is represented on these forums.
I've been retired for over 10 years but the last 18 years of my working life was with the local Council - but no, not as the Mayor 1.gif

Hello everyone, I am a 33yr old Graphic Designer in the midwest (although it isn't very mid or west - not sure how we received this designation).

I bought my first PC about 8 yrs ago to play SimCity 2000 after getting addicted playing on my brother-in-laws system. I got SC3000 the day it came out and unfortunately my system was already aging by then, never really played that much because of system performance. I actually prefered the graphics in sc2000 more than sc3000. I think they made it look to cartoony. I LOVE the graphics in SC4 though.

When I started reading about SC4 I knew I would have to buy a new computer and I did just that - made sure I had it by the release date and bought SC4 the minute it came out. I love the game, even though it can be frustrating at times. Trying to get use to region play. It is like leaving one baby to play with another though. I just have a hard time leaving a city.

This forum is almost as addictive as the game itself (more so while I am at work)

Thats all for now.

I'm 25 and living alone (single and available, hint hint) in Charleston, South Carolina. A city known, if anyone's read Inferno by Dante, as one of the lower circles of Hell. If it weren't for my two cats, and three computers (one for each of us!) I'd probably have gone quite mad a long time ago. When I'm not out and about defending myself from rednecks, bible-thumpers and other creepy inhabitants of this city, I'm generally to be found playing SC4, reading a wide variety of literature, writing novels, slooooowly working on a MUD, or just sitting lazily in the sun, talking to the walls and seeing things that my friends tell me aren't really there.

Like civilization, for instance. 2.gif

Oh, and I night-manage a hotel, when I have little better to do. About five nights a week, that is.

Cheers.

Hello everyone,

I am 25 (single, living with a roomate) in downtown Charleston, SC. Just registered a minute ago for two reasons:

1) I love this site, I am addicted to it as well as the game. I think it is amazing to read over threads like this one and realize the wide scope of the simcity series' appeal. It is wonderful to be part of this commnity. I recently got a Master's in Urban Planning and I now work for a small beach community near here. I love simcity because it lets me build all these wonderful little worlds just the way I like them. In real life city planning, you hardly ever get a chance to start with a blank slate.

2) I just had to respond to Aran's post. I also live in Charleston, SC...I moved here because it's a great city. We have a world class arts festival, symphony, ballet, and museums. It is arguably one of the most beautiful (and well preserved) cities in this country. The rivers, marshes, harbor, and beaches provide not only a stunning visual backdrop, but also countless oppurtunities for recreation. The vast majority of American cities have been suburbanized and strip malled to death, Charleston is an exception. What other city of 100,000 people in the US can support a 1.5 mile walkable shopping street in the middle of a viable central core? I am from the South, so I know all about the bible thumpers and the hicks, but Charleston is, for me, a wonderful island of culture and diversity. I guess because I love it so much, I feel like I have to defend it.

Sorry if that ran a little long, but it is the off topic forum1.gif

Let me begin by apologizing for my views on Charleston. It is, indeed, a very beautiful city. Lovely architecture, wonderful waterfront areas, parks, gardens, etc. LOTS of culture. If you happen to enjoy the oppressive 2.gif heat, I recommend it as a place to live.

Please understand, though, that first and foremost I am a Yankee by birth and have always, always felt an affinity to a more, ah, urban setting. Quite frankly it's downright unnerving for me to walk around downtown at any time and not feel the people. It's hard to explain, but in bigger cities, there's a sense of life in a way. I've been down here the better part of two years and I cannot feel the city as being alive. Or perhaps alive, but not awake. It's just too laid back for me.

Regarding the redneck and bible-thumper remark: there are many pleasant people down here, but for some reason I keep stumbling across the bigoted, intolerant narrow-minded inbreeds who wouldn't know a progressive idea if it bit them on the rear. And I've still not figured out a nice way to tell the various religious folk who knock on my door how to go away in poite terms. This week I've been wearing a Star of David and pretending to be Jewish. Seems to be working so far.

Nice town we have here but if it's all the same to you, mate, I'll keep looking for a job opening up north.12.gif

I'm glad that I'm not the only Hotel Night Manager in this crowd.
