Hey, Simtropolis! I'm on winter break, so I've decided to sit down and get more involved in my favorite computer game of all time to turn a childhood past-time into a artsy hobby. Instead of my typical approach to SimCity (the build-it-up-really-quick-and-get-bored approach), I've decided it's time to start using all the features SimCity 4 offers; afterall, SimCity Classic does not bring enough complexity to the table to keep one entertained for these long-ass college winter breaks. Wish me luck as I dive into this new era(new to me, at least) of SimCity!

-Matt

Sup yo's.

Been playin' the game for quite some time, usually start sucking after I reach a population of around 70k as Residential demand just plummets for some reason, and decided to check around for quick fixes to the horrid commute problem I've noticed. Sims who live ~9-10 city blocks away [5 x 5 in game small squares], even if half the blocks are in another region, gives a commute time of LONG. These sims need to quit whining and just deal with it. 3.gif

Hope to see how much useful information I can suck out of you all,

Laerbn.

Hi everyone. I've been around Simtropolis for a long time, always kinda lurking around and just reading. Then one dark day, SC4/RH got boring. I got busy with college classes and just gave it up cold turkey. Even deleted everything SC4/RH related on my computer.

I'm done with college and living back in my hometown working for the city police department. I have a lot of time when I'm off work that I can't sleep (because of my shift schedule), so I decided to re-do the whole SC4/RH thing. I've spent the last two weeks just uploading MODD's (to whoever worked on NAM... wow, you're contributions are better than the game itself when it was released!!!) and buildings. I got really tired of all that, and then I noticed this banner advertsing STEX CD's and DVD's. I bought them both, and should have them this week or early next.

I am absolutely amazed at what this community has done for the game in the last 3 years since I've played. I've been playing Simcity since the very first classic. Classic was released in 1989. I was born in 1984! I loved that game, and still play it on the SC4 website from time to time.

Anyways, I've decided I should participate more in the forums. I feel like with my experience with all the SC's, and the hundreds of city's I've made in the past 17 years, I might have something to add. I've decided to create my most extensive city (or region, I guess) ever. I've always been a fast builder, which leads to boredom. So, I'm going force myself to build slow! I plan on doing this by creating the most extensive CJ ever. I know that's quite a challenge... considering the competition I've seen. I've never really used photoshop either, so pretty'ing up some pictures might be difficult. We'll see. Whatever the means necessary (including entering some small cheats...) I want to create the most realistic looking city I can. Eye candy will be used, you've been warned. When I get that CJ up and running, I'll post it. Look for Burr Oak Metro coming soon.

I recently graduated with a triple major and work in DC and haven't had time to really get into SC4 until now but have always kind of lurked in the shadows watching this site and decided to join officially and be a part of this community.  I must say that I am completely addicted to this game and its nice to know that there are others out there who are as well.

I also appreciate the raw volume of content that has been created for this game and look forward to the infinite insight of its members.

I haven't dug around as much as i probably should have but whats the latest on Sim City 5 and SimMars?

Hellooooo, VonWulfa! Oooh! A triple major! You don't mind if I consult you, do you? 10.gif

SimMars BETA 1 has been at leisure for a while now, and maxis recently spelled out that SimCity 5 was in the pipeline.

Greetings to all,

Well, it has been almost three years since I joined up here at ST. Now that I am out of school, I suppose it is time to truly become a part of this community and start giving back for all the wonderful things I have received from so many SC4 devoted members.

I silently cruised in the background of so many forums and CJs without ever having the time to share my thoughts o'plenty. Graduating with an engineering degree surely means I should begin asserting my abilities and tackling as many projects as I can regarding BATs, programming, or whatever else might be deemed future help to others here. I have begun the tireless process of research and study into the necessary software and techniques to develop the skills so many already hold, and I am looking forward to getting to know many of you and perhaps working with some of you.

I suspect and hope that I will have made substantial contributions to this site by the end of 2007, one way or another. Feel free to contact me concerning any SC4 matter or discussion from this point forward as I have more free time than I know what to do with at this juncture. Now, back to my SC4 studies...and I'll see you around.
