I should probably have mentioned that I was apart of a body building forum a long time ago back when everyone used the old forum layouts (which was somehow easier for me to navigate) and I did run into the problems that I stated over there. So... I am just weary that I could clog up the forum with repeat questions, or questions about something that already has tons of material written down about it.

Yea the NAM (and its recent update) wasnt hard if I rememeber correctly. It was just an installer file, with no dependencies or anything like that. Downloading the SC4mapper and regions was a little more complex, but not really at all once I watched a youtube video on the subject.

Yea I know I dont have to have all the stuff and I can play the game with what I have. But I am bored with the regular game now. and after watching some of these youtubers and seeing what they have, I am intrigued. I need that stuff!!

Thank you for the replies everyone!

Hi Everyone,

I am new to this forum and website. I started playing SimCity 3000 when i was 12 years old, only every 2 weeks when i visited a friend who had it on his computer.

I left such an impact on me-- It was as if a whole new world opened itself up to me- Later on i started playing SimCity 4 on my own computer. Than left it aside for a few years. And now this september many years later i started playing Rush Hour! It is amazing! For me the city building games apply to my interest in architecture and isometric perspective!

i can tell a lot more but looking forward to be a small part of this community and hope that i will be able to play your add-ons that you put so much effort in!

thanks and see you soon

Hi @Gizeh W and welcome to Simtropolis. *:)

It's never too late for making a return to SC4 or joining the community here as you've now done. There is something special about the game itself, and then with all the helpful people at ST and SC4Devotion as well, it really does extend what can be achieved in this creative hobby. We hope you enjoy it here too.

Hi Brad and welcome to Simtropolis. *:)

There sure are many ways to go about constructing a city in SC4 with all the depth in the gameplay. Of course, there are some players who prefer the artistic side more with less focus on functionality and sustaining balance with development. That's the great thing how the "game" offers choice for how each of us wishes to rule as mayor.

Nice to see you've already posted around the site since joining, and feel free to ask on the forums if unsure of anything with discovering SC4. We're all here to help.

Hello everybody. Technically I'm not a new member, since I found out yesterday that I joined in 2015. I lost my password, forgot my username and really, forgot I even joined here. So I tried to join again last night, and the site told me my email was already on file. I was going to join as SIM-ple Jack, hence the goofy ava. So that username is still up for grabs, if anyone wants it. lol I must have joined SimDev about the same time. I've been playing SimCity since the 90's(playstation style, no mods gasp!) 2000, 3000, RH and 2013. I started with Railroad Tycoon and Panzer General, and I still play PG from time to time. I can make my own custom content for that, unlike SC4. Anyhow, I must have downloaded 3/4's of the STEX by now and have lots for all occasions. Why learn to modd when you guys do such a good job for me. Anyway, you'll be seeing me around.

Hi @Gulag13 and welcome to forum posting! *:)
(As of yesterday as I remember you'd replied about rotating the lots with needing "Num Lock" toggled off.)

What makes SC4 keep flying forward is the community here. How people like yourself decide to return and take part in the forums all adds to that also. I must admit nowadays I'm more into the modding side and testing things in the game than actually playing, although I've found that to be really rewarding fun in its own right. For what can be achieved with city building, it's all about design and problem solving. Whether more into the artistic or gameplay side too, there's so much freedom to be creative.

We hope you enjoy being an active posting member here too.

Sounds a good plan, and it can be done via this form in Account Settings. Just be sure to sign in with your new name when doing so again in future, and update your browser saved details if already having them stored as such. I believe upon changing it via the form, this will lead to you keeping signed in.

Should anything go wrong, feel free to send a Contact Us message or register a new account and we'll fix it up for you.

I am new to this forum. I have played SimCity for about as long as it's existed, but my favorite version and the one I've focused on (on and off) for 10+ years has been SC4. I rediscovered it a few months ago and I am really excited to learn more about mods and STEX and so forth. If anyone has any recommendations - like, be sure to download these 15 things to ramp up your gameplay - please let me know!

Hiya, @2tec. Welcome to Simtropolis. *:)

Would that space center be in SimCity 4? If so, it can only be earned via city growth when playing hard difficulty. For easy or medium difficulty there is a U Drive It mission which can unlock it. (And, ofc, there is a cheat way to get it too.)

Hi @2tec and welcome to Simtropolis! *:8)

There sure are plenty of mods to choose from here especially for SC4, and we hope you enjoy the site. Should you have interests in other city building games and this is also a fantastic community to discuss them too (such as Cities Skylines, which is another active forum).

Hi my name is Stan. I have been a city skyline player on console for about 3 years. I have just gotten a laptop and I'm about to buy SimCity 4 and I'm looking for some assets and mods and found out from YouTube that you can get them here. there's not any mods on console. so I decided to join the site and I'm looking forward to seeing what's on here.

Hiya, Stan. Welcome to Simtropolis. *:)

Be sure you get SimCity 4 from either GOG or Steam and no other place. There's one by Origin that is borked inasmuch as it is unpatched and cannot be patched and therefore most mods will not work with the Origin version.

Hi Stan and welcome to Simtropolis! *:8)

Whether into CSL or SC4 and this is a fantastic community you've just joined. That might sound a little biased coming from an admin, but honestly it's the truth. You'll find so much wonderful content on the STEX, and I highly recommend Cori's Shoppes and also this excellent guide for starters.

For GOG and I just checked to see they happen to be offering the game on sale at 75% off as part of their Winter Sale currently active. The homepage says that it runs until the 2nd of January also, so that might be worth considering if you're looking at a digital version of the game. Steam is another viable option, but on GOG and it has the advantage of being DRM free and the ability to download it standalone when bypassing their optional Galaxy client.

Feel free to post any questions in the SC4 forums if unsure of anything, and hope you enjoy the site.
