Later: Nevermind... Probably 'operator headspace'...

After a bit of lite reading and searching around, figured it out (I think). Wound up removing just the program's cache folder (after initially doing that when replacing the whole program) and running the program again. Seemed to do the trick. Not sure why it took doing it twice... Will leave the post here for posterity's sake... ;)

Hi all,

This may be something simple on my end, or I missed an announcement, but... I'm receiving this when running the program or when using the STEX buttons:

SC4pac error.JPG

I first noticed this a few days ago, but I hadn't used SC4pac in a while. I also tried to redo everything with the newest version. And as far as I know, nothing was altered with my interent service. But who knows...

Here is the log report. Not sure what it means...

Spoiler

Just a FYI:

On this new file for the game Banished, it shows the Install with sc4pac button:
https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/37420-fancy-axe-by-black-liquid/

This happens to be the same file ID as "SC4 Plop and Paint" used back before the site crash.

Which was previously:

https://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/37420-sc4-plop-and-paint/

I recall seeing some other reports of this, so figured best mentioning it too. I'd imagine it's a channel index on the GitHub side which needs correcting?

Yes. I've looked into it and the only files affected by this are the two DLLs by @CasperVg. The simplest course of action is to wait for them to be rehosted on the STEX, so then we can replace the wrong link in the metadata by the new correct link.

This looks like an interrupted download of some sort. Deleting the affected file from the cache, like you did, will resolve it.

No, the sc4pac cache. In the GUI you can find the folder in Dashboard → Folders → Cache folder. Use the url to follow the folder path until you find the file, delete it, and retry the download.

I get this message when I try to download some packages:screenshot.jpg.2f8d0b46f15144c7c0dbefad922e9d94.jpg

This issue (Premature EOF) is likely going to affect more people. I've managed to replicate it myself.

In the short term until it is fixed, here's a workaround:

Go to Dashboard → Folders → Cache and navigate to the folder "community.simtropolis.com". Search for all files that end in .part and delete all of them (for example: 37113-alvertstone-financial/.%3Fdo%3Ddownload%26r%3D213885.part). Only then click "Update All" again.

The issue is related to resuming interrupted downloads, so it's important to delete all .part files from the cache, since otherwise, when the error gets triggered at one .part file, a second download is interrupted, so you get more and more partial files with each attempt. For this reason, avoid hitting "Cancel" as well.

The issue only affects files downloaded from Simtropolis.

SC4Plop-and-Paint and SC4RenderServices are now available again on the STEX (with new IDs) alongside some other DLLs that were unreleased at the time ST went dark. @Ulisse Wolfsaid he would take care of the metadata ;)

Given that sc4pac functions from a connection to my profile on simtropolis and the key that is generated from the website, you'd think sc4pac would be aware that the reason it is failing to read this file is because it no longer exists on simtropolis (i've searched myself). The Maintenance & Repair option i initiated before this and after this endeavor has not led to alignment between sc4pac and this site and my PC. I'm curious when there are plans to update sc4pac and simtropolis to alignment to avoid these kind of failures since sc4pac doesn't proceed in the rest of the 4,100 downloads...?

@Mstrfox It says right there that the downloads are completed.

Instead, show the error details by clicking on the error message. Additionally, create a ZIP file from the folder "31284-r-pack-santiaguino-1" located at "C:\Users\OWNER\AppData\Local\io.github.memo33\sc4pac\cache\coursier\https\community.simtropolis.com\files\file\" and send it to me. The folder would contain two files.

They've just reported the issue and error log here. FWIW I'm seeing the same error too. Attached cache file.

The best way to fix this for now is to unstar this one specific package, and then proceed with installing the remaining.

This has been fixed. It was not a problem with sc4pac, but rather an issue with the upload itself. @memo found that one of the folders ended in a space, which is illegal in Windows. Windows will silently strip this trailing space, so users installing manually will never see this issue, but if you handle this file programmatically, you will run into this problem. The STEX entry was updated to remove this space.

I was wondering why my water was black... I found an old thread about this.

Turns out the Japanese River Project in sc4pac installs JRP_WaterMod_Beta.dat.

Also, I recreated my plugins folder on a fresh install of Windows. I found three items that were inaccessible in sc4pac. They are:

    agc.pirate-ship-1750-01.dark.1.0.0.sc4pac
    mz.city-hall-fixes.1.2.sc4pac
    smf-16.static-center-pivot-irrigation-fields.1.0.2.sc4pac

Would they be of any help for the Simtropolis restoration project? I had them lying around from a previous Windows install.

Fun fact: Buffalo sauce contains the entire DNA sequence of buffalo, so you can clone buffalo while eating buffalo wings with buffalo sauce at Buffalo Wild Wings in Buffalo, New York. I've never tried it, though.

Yes please! According to the tracker, AGC's and smf's files are still missing! The MZ City Hall fix is currently working correctly.
