Simtropolis Error 520: Help Diagnosing

Just got another 2-fer. The first was opening a forum topic in a new tab with many others open (at least six). The secong was less than a minute later while opening the BR from the Forums page. This was done after closing all the tabs.

Not sure if we're continuing to track this, but...

In the month since the most recent post, nothing has changed regarding the frequesncy or actions resulting in the errors. It continues at about the same pace with no pattern as to what actions are being preformed when the error occurs. Sometimes it is frequesnt (2 or 3 times a session), and sometimes not (a day or two without). And whether moving between forums, editing/approving features/posts, or checking/making PMs, it continues to pop up...

Just wanted to pop in a say that this issue seems to have returned after not experiencing it for probably about a month or so. Happens about the same frequency as before and doesn't appear to be limited to any particular action on my part - still seems to be a totally random occurrance.

Since my last report here, I have not had any more problems, and during the Christmas period until the end of January, because of the Christmas lights,  I increased my frequency of accessing the site to more than once a day, every day.

This always displays when i open a file for downloading, mostly after opening 7+ tabs (yes I heavily mod my game)

I've encountered this multiple multiple times. I know, Indonesian internet isn't the best in the world and it'll be that way for a bit long time. But I can open YouTube just fine and it loads smoothly. It's not like YouTube is ultraoptimized or anything since opening other sites is also as fast. The problem really lies on ST as it throws the familiar 520 error very often.

Seems to be happening more frequently again after not experiencing it much for several weeks.

Plus, don't know if it's related but got this just now...

May simply be a traffic issue. Site has been loading slowly off and on the past few days.

I experienced a 520 error about ten minutes ago. I kept the tab open so I could document it here.  

If I remember all of the events in order...
I opened an item in the "Newly Added Files" section on the home page in a new tab, and then proceeded to open my notifications to check my notifications (I had only one). I clicked on the new post notification so I could view it (it was for a post on the "Submenus DLL" thread). Nothing happened. So, I clicked on it again, and boom, it immediately took me to the Error 520 page. Everything else worked flawlessly on the other 2-3 Simtropolis tabs I had opened at the time.

I think I have encountered this a few times before (sometimes in new tabs as well), but it is a rare occurrence for me.

The error typically happens when I open many tabs in a quick succession as @TG24 described it:

Actually, I was never much bothered by it. I just took it as normal for an older website, like the donation meter that never updated (and has now gone) or the Leader Board, that is stuck on May 10th. I simply reload when I get the error and usually get the page I wanted.

So @Cyclone Boom, do you still want us to report these here and if so how often?

Yes please, that'd be helpful.

I contacted Dirktator about this and forwarded the info in this thread. He says if we can gather new instances of these 520 errors, he'll be able to raise it with Cloudflare support and see what can be done. It's still a mystery at this point as to the cause of these errors, given how intermittent they occur.

So if anyone notices these too still, please reply with...

• Date and time the error happened
• Cloudflare Location (e.g. Chicago, London)
• Cloudflare Ray ID

2-in-1 this time!

I was in the process of opening links in new tabs from my notifications menu when it occurred. It has never happened to me twice within ten seconds before, let alone during the same session. Go figure, I guess!

Curiously enough, I just had the error message when clicking on the same download link as @TogaMasterJohn for the SC4MP... One other tab open (ST homepage)

Got another. I seem to be in a period of time when they occur more frequently again - for me anyway. It's happening pratically daily, but I am on for longer periods of time since it's summer.
