is there a mod or way to do this easier? any help is appreciated.

let me explain what my goal is- to use 1 region on a map to produce power for the entire city. do the same thing with water and also trash. so use 3 small regions to produce all the utilities needed.

i start out fine, but as i develop farther out, it becomes tedious to buy them from the neighboring regions. say you have 5 regions in a line. to get power from the 1st to the 5th you have to manually import and export from every region. make sure region 2 is buying enough to sell to region 3, then do the same for region 3 to 4 etc. is there a organizer mod where region 5 could just buy from the main power, water, and trash regions?

i have mods to ship the garbage on trains. and i understand there are mods to dump the trash off the edge of the map.  not every region has train tracks. nor does that solve the power and water issue. seems there should be an easier way to interact between the regions. my goal is to use a lake to pump the water for the majority of the entire map. and build power in another small region. and set 1 with a landfill but collect the trash for the whole map.

thanks for the help.

Hey @Brad. I generally use the same method in which there is just one city tile (I guess this is what you mean by "region"?) which is used as a powerhouse and water well and which sends these commodities throughout the neighboring cities. These cities can then resell all this power even further, basically creating a whole, region-wide power grid.

As for the garbage, the situation is a little more nuanced here...

Although you can export garbage, a city that receives it just has to have a small landfill or will otherwise not accept these imports at all... Unfortunately, there is no way to circumvent it in a vanilla game AFAIK.

Now, if I understand correctly, you'd like to have more flexibility to actually strike these deals as, indeed, it is sometimes difficult to do it, even if all conditions are met!

Without getting into the technicalities of the issue, @cogeo made a mod which makes striking deals somewhat easier. One @CorinaMarie took this idea even further but, as far as I recall, she made it specifically on my request so I'm not 100% positive if I can share her work just like that. One thing I'm certain of, her solution was the best... I never experienced any problems striking any "chain" deals after using her plugin. I think it's best to ask @Cyclone Boom what he thinks of sharing this little but powerfull .dat file.

thank you for the reply. i can actually strike deals across several spaces or zones on garbage. the import city has to have capacity available to accept the trash. like it has to b able to export at 2 so it can take in 1 and still have an alotted 1 for itself, be it tons or whatever unit. and yes it is tedious.

from my understanding, when using a cheat code to do away with the utility requirements, you have to type the codes in every time you play. so i never tried that route.

Once, Cori also prepped me an ordinance modifications that basically eradicates all garbage from the city. A "pure cheat" as she called it. Maybe it is dirty, but at least it gives an illusion that a given city is exporting all of its garbage and sending it over somewhere else. Also useful in chain deals, minus all the trouble that normally comes with it.

    I'm a little late here...

I could message Cori offsite to ask, but I'm entirely confident she'll say "GFI" and will be very happy for you to share the .dat file here in public for peeps to use. *:)

I know Cori has said more than once that anyone can share her work here or offsite for whatever is easiest. Of course, giving her credit as you do is proper, pointing to the original in addition to sharing is cool when you know where, and adding your own explanation for usage can be really handy because Cori loved the challenge of figuring out things no one else had, but then would often leave the details up to whoever requested a particular mod.

Edit: I found this topic in case this is the mod already attached there, along with the other details about your method. Otherwise if not, feel free to attach it in reply.

I've skim read that old topic and in your last post you tested Cori's v1.0. It does sound to me like her v1.1 would solve that remaining hassle of having to build up greater needs to buy more up and down the chain. Maybe at the time you then used the v1.1, but didn't need to post back since it worked?

Ah, yes - that's exactly the topic I was referring to, but couldn't find it.
