In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed.  But they produced Michael Angelo, Leonardo Da Vinci, and The Renaissance.

In Switzerland, they had brotherly love and five hundred years of peace.  And what did that produce?

The cuckoo clock !

(Harry Lime to Holly Martins...Graham Greene's THE THIRD MAN...1949)

Dropping in to say I'd recommend having a look at the 'prop painter' (prop plop?) feature of the advanced lot plop GUI made by @CasperVg. I tested a few ships with the the painter and they seemed to 'float' perfectly when I used it. Theres a lot of brilliant ship models, but I feel the process to get them set up has deterred widespread usage. With this new development however, I think the barrier of utilisation may have been completely removed.

@AP that model looks fantastic. As a blender novice, currently fumbling their way through UV mapping and texturing, this gives me hope of what may come with a lot of practice!

Oh, that sounds very interesting! @Dreadnought were you aware of this?

@EastChapel I am not really playing sc4 anymore, nor am I really in touch with all the lot editors, etc.

Blender holds fantastic sheer endless opportunities, I am an absolute beginner as well. The last week my evenings were filled trying to produce a procedural riveted steel plate texture, and I will say, that it was a hell of a ride, but it does work:

But looking at it gives you brain damage:

I suspect the old way may still be used even if it is supplanted by the prop painter - mainly for accuracy of placement (especially for someone like @Dreadnought). This being said, if this new way seems reliable enough it will democractise shipping for all.

    Yo -- *:thumb:

NO -- I am not familiar with a "prop painter".  I suspect it is one of those "new-fangled" programs that are quite beyond my MOD's/APPs/current software.  AND -- I have managed to find ways to make a wide variety of lots without having to make serious upgrades to my operating systems -- so far. *:D

    Automated Notice Message

All posts after 1 March, 2026 @ 01:37 GMT were lost in the site crash.

We've added this message thread divider in every topic across all forums for what were then active threads. (We decided active is if the most recent extant post (from the backup) was on or after 1 January, 2026.)

This divider serves as notice that the conversation was interrupted. Answers and further discussion which used to be here have been lost. Keep this in mind when replying. Our hope is to rebuild what is missing.

    I am Lab Rat.
