DirectX 7 Limitation - this being the system the game was programmed to support for video output. You can get around it by using a Wrapper, step-by-step instructions on that here, I myself run at 2k (2560x1440) without problems, but 4k and beyond is possible too.

Probably post-processing effects, if you are using an NVidia or ATI GPU, then you can switch these on globally or for SC4 itself. Not exactly the simplest thing to work out, but things like Anti-Aliasing and Anisotropic Filtering if set right for your hardware make a big difference.

That's a big ask of anyone, since the answer is probably at least in the hundreds, a more specific request is more likely to result in the answer you want. A dedicated thread exists here for such questions.

Simply a filler for the regular avenue ones, plenty of which exist on the exchanges.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

Really depends on your hardware, for example if you are using an Intel iGPU, then you can forget about all the bells and whistles graphically for the most part.

That's a CPU... what GPU (Graphics Card) do you have or more specifically is SC4 using. Most modern CPUs include a GPU as part of them, then you may or may not have a dedicated additional GPU. But for sure, any internal one won't be an Intel if you've an AMD chip.

Therefore unless you've a NVidia card working in tandem with an on-board ATI one, these settings will be the AMD's Catalyst Control Centre or something like that. Sorry I can't help further, my setup is Intel + NVidia and I've not used an AMD card for almost 10 years now (although I prefer them).

the only change I made recently was to organize the bat by folders, someone help me!image.png.0e472483664c4b7a928cf442a3289cb7.png

I already solved it, the problem was that when doing cleanitool, it deleted the background.png

It's a graphical issue, quite how your mouse would trigger that is a bit odd, but it could be a driver/mouse software issue. Especially if your mouse uses some software it may be 'interrupting' the system in a way that essentially hogs the CPU or other system resources. In essence, the mouse want's priority over the rest of the running system, whilst that doesn't take enough resources to directly trigger such problems, older games/code may not be able to work in tandem with it, leading to the game having to wait to refresh the display. Of course, it might equally be that the Mouse was interfering with the Videocard, it's drivers or DirectX in a similar fashion.

If it still happens directly after clean-booting the system and running SC4 BEFORE opening any other apps, then you should look at the drivers/software for your hardware and see what Windows has updated, likely that would explain the change.

BSC Cleanitool deleted the background.png files xD

Can someone help me, months ago I placed the airport in the game and it still hasn't activated, it has access to the tracks because it already attracts workers, but it doesn't mark visitors.

Can you elaborate? What do you mean the 'Airport has access to the tracks'?, all an airport needs is a road connection to function.

When you say it's not 'activated', well there is no such requirement that I'm aware of, they just are active. If it isn't 'counting' visitors, well that probably just means the conditions aren't right for these values to appear. Do bear in mind, none of this actually works behind the scenes, there are no visitors to your city, no one flies anywhere and the airport basically just boosts certain areas of demand and applies some YIMBY/NIMBY effects to give the effect of an airport being present.

Well it's not as simple as saying, use the same settings as me, but here's the setup I've been using (at the time on a GTX 750ti):

SC4-NVidia-3D-Settings.jpg.889ff2c213dd878c5775528a0f3a89c8.jpg

That's a few years old, I know the drivers have changed a bit since then. Sucky as it seems, often the only way to get these right is to try each option one at a time and see the results in-game. For example pushing the Anistropic filtering or Antialiasing too far, actually makes things worse, not better. But there is a sweet spot somewhere in-between. Find these settings in the NVidia Control Panel app, under Manage 3D Settings, which should have been installed with the drivers.

A lot of the other settings may or may not work for you, for example on my newer GTX 960 I need to enable Gamma correction now, otherwise I find the resultant image too bright for my terrain mods. So you may need to do some tweaking to get the best results for you.

Is Devotion ever going to have a home page with clickable links and previews again? And before anyone says anything, I know there's a Dev thread around, but damned if I can find it.

I have another question also. Does anybody know the name of the mod that eliminates the earth layer side view on tiles? I know I have it, but it seems to have stopped working. Or I may have accidentally pitched it.

Yea, I have that installed correctly, apparently since 2019. I did notice this file is also loaded- "region_bg_1-black" which was made by CB. Is that the one? Is it causing a conflict? It never has before.

Checking into this, I see their mod contains these two files which would override the region background of my mine.

As follows:

RegionViewHD.dat
RegionViewHDSubdued.dat   (Alternative file with less bright stars)

Then this file of theirs is what overrides the city sides:   aHDStarBorder.dat

My mod doesn't alter the city sides, and so it'd only be the background texture (which uses the same IIDs since it has to override the Maxis one).

Well, it just took a turn for the stranger. I removed anything to do with backgrounds, city or region, downloaded yours and installed it. It works fine in city view, the terrain cutaway is gone and a solid black background. But in region view, I have a black background with stars(or little white flecks). I looked at the 5 png's and they are completely black in close-up.

It's a DirectX limitation, not a game one, the only way to work around it is to use a Wrapper, if you simply change the resolution the game won't be able to start. If you are having problems with getting a wrapper working/configured, then start a thread and we'll try to work through it.
(actually you could switch to Software Rendering, if you want the game to play and look terrible, but I wouldn't go that route)

Call me a Noob but I seriously am lost. I am used to the original SimCity. I installed NAM for my SimCity 4 D>E. and I am finding it overwhelming trying to figure out how to use the items with the rxtremely limited ingame, and online, information available. My primary concern at this moment is the Ninja Boulevard Station. I realize that all network stations must be connected to the network. Now in game it says it provides the amenities of: Parking, Buses, Subways, Trains, and freight. Kiok includes all except parking. I tried to connect to train rails and they don't connect. Am I only suppose to connect to subway tunnel and then also place the Staion on next to train tracks and roads? Please help.

Both Ninja stations are intended to be used aside of the networks they serve, so they don't connect directly to anything. Think of them as platforms for busses or trains to stop by.

I have a problem to see if it may have a solution, I have installed the JPN Wall Set mod by Mas71 and when I place it the menu closes for me and it is very annoying to have to look for the lot in the menu for each piece that I place. My question is if this can be corrected, since the maxis parks do not have this problem, you can place as many parks as you want without closing the menu. I hope and appreciate your prompt responses.

In my installation the walls behave normal and hold the selected menu item. Unfortunately I'm not the right one to help you with this isue.
