This thread is intended for asking questions to receive short and simple solutions. *:read:

It is meant to be a place where it's easy to reply and quick to receive answers, instead of opening a new topic each time. For example, to ask about keyboard shortcuts, how to use a cheat command, or game versions like between a patched and unpatched game. Maybe even a post someone made for a gameplay tip.

That said, we very much encourage members to open a new topic for asking anything which might lead to a discussion, or a sequence of replies on the same subject. That way it allows people to find topics when searching for particular questions.

When I type it into the redeem code box, I get "code not found' message.

It's been so long since I bought my game from GOG, I don't recall that step, but I do recall it wasn't a problem long ago.

They do offer this as their guide: How do I redeem a code?

I will try again.   The step I am referring to is entering the code.  It said "code not found"

Be sure to make extra copies on different media of the game installer you downloaded. (Like copy it to a couple of different flash drives.)

I'm almost done installing the BSC LEX Superior Collections. What a great way to make progress in filling my game with custom content that isn't game mechanic-changing!

I have my plugins directory in a separate directory from the default directory. Some of the Clickteam installers aren't perfect. They dump files in the default plugins directory even though I tell them not to. One of those files was GC_Essentials.dat from Gascooker. Is this file needed if I have the latest BSC Essentials? I can't figure out if it's included in BSC Essentials or not. Thank you in advance!

Corrected "CSX" to "BSC"

Fun fact: Buffalo sauce contains the entire DNA sequence of buffalo, so you can clone buffalo while eating buffalo wings with buffalo sauce at Buffalo Wild Wings in Buffalo, New York. I've never tried it, though.

Actually, BSC Essentials includes everything from the GC_Essentials.dat and many more besides. If you look in the download, there is a file Remove_list_BSC_Essentials.txt, which lists all the files it replaces. Better still, if you load this in CleanItol, it will search your Plugins and remove them automatically for you, archiving them to another folder. This list is also repeated in the Readme too.

Depends on how the installer is coded, my installers will move all installed SC4 files to where you tell it, but the documentation isn't linked to the same code and will always end up in Documents, where ever that may be. You are confusing the fact that your system has no way to tell the installer where to put things, with the installer being somehow broken or faulty. If you properly moved the system folder Documents, then the installer would do everything as expected. That it isn't, suggests you are just using the command line switch to alter the location used by SC4, which isn't data an installer knows about.

@rsc204 Thank you so much. I apologize for my mistake regarding Clickteam installers. Yes, I am using a command line switch and I'd prefer to handle things that way.

@CorinaMarie Thank you so much! I remember participating in that thread! I have Universal Extractor 2 downloaded. It must be said in that thread that Universal Extractor 2 offers a graphical user interface for extracting those installers and so much more. It's probably better that I use that. I'll add it to my system's context menu. I noticed a weird entry in my Add or Remove Programs today because of a Clickteam installer.

Had a weird issue, so figured I would post here...I couldn't find any solutions.

I had a city tile that had a few roads/highways/train lines but no development.  I was working on a part of the tile trying to level the terrain using the streets so I could make a HWY/road interchange.  I had one side of the area the road would be leveled out, but when I went to the otherside there was like a 5x5 tile area if I tried to level it, the game would crash.  I could drag rails/roads/highways/whatever across it no problem...but anytime I tried leveling - crash!  It would even crash if I used mayor mode leveling or god mode leveling.  All other terrain edits worked fine...just not level.  And it was only in that small area.  I bulldozed multiple times, even used NAM HWY disconnect tool thinking maybe something was there hidden.

Luckily I hadn't developed the tile at all, so I obliterated the city and started over.  No issues with it now.

Anyone knows what would cause that and how to fix it - in case it happens in a developed city...?

Sounds like an issue with either an old tree controller, or a lack of textures for the terrain, that only becomes apparent when affects one of the few places where the missing files are required.

In the lot editor is there a way to change which side the overlay texture goes?

    image.png.3565bf35130aa4043de2b2925de82ef7.png

here you can see it is perpendicular to the fence, when i would like it parallel.  is it a separate overlay in the massive scroll list, or can I rotate it somehow?

Yes, lot textures can be rotated using the Page Up / Page Down keys to turn anticlockwise or clockwise.

Multiple can be rotated at once by firstly dragging a selection area.

Also a perhaps lesser known feature of the Lot Editor is the ability to mirror textures by selecting them and pressing the M key.

OWR neighbour connections do not work by themselves, but using road for the NC and converting back to OWR is a viable workaround. So yes this should be functional.

Then you'd have two OWR-1 networks, which would be One Way, which doesn't work.

Honestly, why bother asking me if it works, why not just play the game and see if sims are using it. That's by far the simplest way of seeing if things are right or now.

There really isn't any other way to make this setup, so it should work.

    8 hours ago, monkeywater said:

It will work but congestion may be a thing

It's minor, since congestion is based on a per-tile count, not per direction, so being able to use only half the NC tiles doesn't infer a penalty. However, since the capacity of Road may be different to OWR (I forget), and the speed of OWR is quicker than Road, those may lead to a small negative effect overall. But it's not a big deal in the grand scheme of things.

I hope you realise I'm just being a little playful, but it's a super-useful tip, people often worry things might not be right, but it's super easy to see if things are being used as expected or not. So next time you get stuck, you might be able to work out if everything is alright by yourself.
