My sc4 hanging too much. I think it should run properly on 3gb ram, but it's not. I don't have a separate graphics card, just an Intel hd graphics. Any fixes and tweaks are acceptable.

Setting Shadows to low can help.

Perhaps some of the suggestions in the following thread might be useful:

(Which as Cori has stated, includes setting shadows to the Low setting.)

The game should be perfectly capable of running without crashing, although it does appear your PC specs aren't ideal. 3GB ram is sort of sufficient, but only in respect of SimCity 4 itself, how much of that RAM is being utilised elsewhere, for example running your OS and (because it's an iGPU), your graphics card. Likewise an Intel iGPU is in theory good enough to run the game, but in practise the drivers just aren't very well optimised. If you've a HD 3000, you probably won't get the game running with DirectX, instead having to use the inferior Software Rendering. So when you say HD Graphics, which version, because if it's the original, i.e. just Intel HD Graphics without a number, whilst it works, performance is going to be poor.

But before worrying too much about your hardware, it would be prudent to just confirm when you say "hanging", if you mean the game stops working but can not be recovered. In other words, you are required to close and reopen the game to continue playing. Or as you perhaps saying the game just pauses and takes a while before you can do anything? It's an important distinction, because the troubleshooting steps are completely different here.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

Some more information on your system would help here, can you pull up the System Information window (Right click on 'This PC' and select properties, assuming you are using Win10, 'My Computer' on earlier Windows) and tell us which processor it lists?

Also if it's not Win 10, can you please specify which OS you are using?

It would be very useful to see the log file created by SC4, which may highlight any obvious problems. This can be found inside the \Apps folder where SC4 is installed on your hard drive. The file you need is named MYCOMPUTERNAME-config-log.txt, if you open this and copy/paste the contents into a reply, we can see what, if anything might be tweaked to improve performance.

    News:- Problem solved!

I just found that the problem was the page file size. I increased it and the game is now blazing fast. Thanks for the replies, and for rsc204, the game was lagging, not hanging (actually I did not know the difference). And no log files were created.

For Whte_rbt: I have not seen total specs, but the CPU is Intel core i3 M370 with igpu.
