Extreme Lag when facing border of map (Steam Version).

I have this problem with the Steam Version of SC3K Unlimited.
When the camera is coming close to the border of the map, the game slows down to a single digit framerate. Curiously it only happens when the void is on top of the camera and not of the bottom (see attached image for illustration). 

- The bigger the resolution of the game, the bigger the lag. I play in FullHD and the lag is the biggest.
- The lag doesn't happen when buildings are turned off or underground view is on.
- The lag is reduced as you zoom out.

Has anyone experienced this problem and knows a solution?
