Missing plugin pack warning - Paeng's Regional Bus Terminal

What lot is this, and where did you download it?  Those pieces of information would certainly help us figure out what you're missing.

You got the brown box because you are certainly missing a model for something (that's the only reason a brown box shows up - missing models).  You got the plugin pack warning because you are missing something significant the you once had in your plugins folder, but the game can no longer find.

Paeng's regional bus terminal, and I've downloaded all the dependencies listed on its download page.

This should resolve the bus terminal issue.  Sometimes content creators just miss things.  @CorinaMarie, could you or one of the other mods add this dependency to the dependency list for Paeng's Regional Bus Terminal.

As far as the missing PluginPack warning, it appears to be totally unrelated to the bus terminal.  This usually relates to lot or building exemplars that used to be in your plugins folder, but which the game can no longer find.  I was unable to decipher the PluginPack number and connect it to anything in available catalogs created by @catty-cb.  You need to search your city, looking for a lot that appears to be missing almost everything that belongs to it (props, buildings, textures).  It may show only textures, or it may just show the base texture of the map.  It would be easier to find it if it is a lot that exists among other lots, as it may just show up as a "hole."  If you find such a lot, query it and it should hopefully give you a lot name

Providing it goes here: Paeng's Regional Bus Terminal then I've added it. *;)

    @nukehumvee

You can try @Cyclone Boom's method described here to determine what that missing plugin pack ID refers to.

It looks like the prop pack isn't the missing link: the bus terminal still has the same brown box.

@CorinaMarie, is it possible to find out what the missing item on the bus terminal is via the Lot Editor?

I'll go with a maybe answer. I've only peeked in the regular Lot Editor a couple of times and created one single lot for myself using PIM-X so I'm not an expert for this. *;)

I can confirm there are missing dependencies for the 3 lots of Paeng's Regional Bus Terminal file. I cleared my Plugins and carefully gathered every single dependency listed as well as taking care to be sure I copied the correct models and description files from ACB VLT Terminals and Jets Series 1 part 2. After plopping all three, saving, exiting, and re-entering the city tile I see this:

    img4721.jpg

    Checking with DataNode:

    img4728.jpg

    img4729.jpg

    img4730.jpg

And then installing PEG NO MORE BROWN BOXES (which makes the brown boxes smaller as little colored thingers) :

    imghp0650.jpg

Maybe one of the LE experts can figure out from here what those things are.

Usually no, because in order for the name of a prop/item to be displayed, you must have said item installed. Otherwise all you can see is the missing prop (usually a green diamond shape) with the ID of the Prop Exemplar. That ID typically won't help to find where the missing item is.

I've a fairly vanilla install right now, by simply downloading the listed dependencies, I'm getting the same problem as everyone else. But, it's not a prop that's the issue here, rather it's a missing invisible model used for the Buildings Exemplar. This is neither included nor linked to, which is going to be a real problem to find the file.

However, I don't like the practise of using a custom invisible model to add a building to a lot. Partly because if you are going to do this, you can just link to the one included with the base game, which prevents this type of problem. And partly because I hate redundancy and unnecessary duplication of things. Another solution is simply to provide what's known as a Null Key or ID, which simply accomplishes the exact same thing, but without using a model at all.

Attached is a set of fixed lots that replace the originals with modified lots using the Null Key method, which will resolve the brown boxes. Along the way, I ended up making some Cleanitol files which both check you've all the dependencies installed and can handle removal of the unneeded Airport Props, (where desired), automatically. Hope that helps.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

I copied your three lots into the Plugins\paeng_RegionalBusTerminal_1-2\Lots folder overwriting the originals and the brown box problem went away. You or @Tyberius06 can add this to the STEX file with instructions and we can consider this all fixed now. (I imagine Tyberius will make a complete new file consistent with his other work on Paeng's files.)

Oddly enough the two parking lots require water. :O (But, that's prolly just how they were designed.)

Thank you! I've seen results from Cori's side, so I've replaced the old lots. As for the airport pieces, I am keeping them as I am building an airport. At the same time I am also creating a "regional hub" like the one near where I stayed in Singapore, with a shopping mall, civic centre and bus (which requires the terminal) and metro station.

Well, I do see two porta potties on those lots, or restrooms as you will, so I can understand, why they were lotted to need water. I probably would've done the same. *:D

@CorinaMarie I am missing the red, yellow and blue bus props and even with all and more dependencies in it, they're are a no show. Do you know, in what prop pack those buses are in?

    Kind regards!

    Hi!

    @rsc204, @CorinaMarie and @nukehumvee

A little bit late and sorry for bumping this thread, but I found the missing building which caused the brown box. Paeng used the BLaM Blank Building  from OP4, but forgot to list as a dependency. So his original lots will work if you place this blank building into your plugin folder. Check the two pics below:

Before I installed the Blank Building

    5bcf0da7b4f90_PaengRegionalBuswithoutBLamBlank.thumb.jpg.6e419d714d2afb25d6e60861b224317f.jpg

After I installed the Blank Building

    5bcf0dac79623_PaengRegionalBuswithBLampBlank.thumb.jpg.d2a691e4d3a79a326b505222170650c7.jpg

Also I'm gonna update the download page a bit. Because with the AC Mega Prop Pack 2 and volume 3 you get all the necessary props from the ACB terminals covered. Which is less problematic than the bunch of individual model and desc files. Yepp, I tested the above pictures show that dependency set up with the Mega Prop packs.

So if we all agree, I'm gonna update the download page according to my findings.

I updated the download page and also edited the message from @rsc204.

However I think someone with the Admin Magics could remove the message anyway, because it doesn't seem to be necessary anymore.

Well figured out, and thanks for amending the description to make known that all-important blank dependency. *:)

I've taken care of the message.

    Spoiler

Using this download may lead to Brown Boxes appearing. Please see this post for details and a fix:
