True, I just found it odd that this is what the dictionary says.

Was going to post this last night, but was running into issues with connecting to the site. Here's a wip on a new Aldi:

I don't know how to make the signs light up. There isn't really a learning curve for night lighting. At least I'm making these you know.

I like how you create soon to be defunct retail stores/defunct retail stores for SC4.

You should consider Child World for a future BAT. I don’t know much about them, but I do know that they were a major toy chain in the 1980s.

Hmmm. That's not a bad suggestion. A castle-like storefront would be fascinating if I can pull it off.

    Enjoy!

I will be holding off on releasing Kroger so that I can do a strip center for it.

I also want to mention the following because the Aldi lot is bigger then Belk lot. The dept stores are intentionally scaled down from a realistic size so that they would match SG's RLS Mall in size in case you wanted to use them as an anchor store. I may possibly revisit a few brands (Belk, Bon-Ton and Boscov's) and make them at a more realistic size, but it isn't a priority at the moment.

At this time though, I plan to switch gears and further redo some of my relots. I think I need a break from the BAT for now.

You're really improving on the BAT. Perhaps when you come back to things, I can give you some ideas from out west like I have posted on Flickr...

Any chance of getting some growables of these soon?

Thanks @Raymie. I can't say for certain, but there's always a chance as long I have reference pictures. I don't plan to do growables.

I will not be returning to BATting until May 27 as I will be leaving to go on a week long vacation to eastern TN and upstate SC on Saturday.

You need to inset the roof - right now these are looking like boxes with textures.  Recessing the roof (even the slightest bit) so that you can see a bit of "parapet" (for lack of another term) from the tops of the walls will go a long way to making these look more realistic.  Right now, if it rained, the water would just pour down the sides of the buildings.

Also, your roof texture is very light and bright and visually "busy" - I would darken it a bit and get rid of some of the visual static.

With large swaths of glass like that, the nightmaps are less effective - better to model the interior floor and whatever might be seen just inside the windows and drop a few omnis or target directs, while using a transparent glass texture.  It's a pain to do in gmax (having done it quite a bit myself), but it looks like less of a "cheat" which the nightmaps are engineered for.

GOOD TEXTURES ARE MADE, NOT FOUND.
(I get tired of saying that in BAT threads.)

    Thank you for your criticism.

I'll do my best to keep the parapet in mind now that I understand what it is better.

I've said it many times before, but roof textures aren't the easiest thing for me to decide if they look good. Often I think they look good only to find many others not liking it.

As for lighting, I don't understand it at all other then the night mapping. It would of been nice if someone dug a little deeper on that part of the tutorial.

Not trying to be mean, but there's plenty of other stores that I'd rather spend time on over making another Ollie's.

Is there a chain of gas station that has yet to be made in SimCity? I'm asking because there are certain areas I don't know very well (such as the west coast) and I'm considering making a few pumps and gas stations of CURRENT brands that need it.

Speedway, Marathon, a modern Gulf, Casey's, Rutter's, Quiktrip, Cenex in the plains, also Rotten Robbie in the west coast. Love's, Pilot, Buc-ee's (a Texas chain) if you want to do a truck stop. I know that I added a few of those brands in RSC's convenience store set a while back but they don't exist as actual gas stations like in real life. An Amoco would be cool as well since BP is bringing them back (https://www.bp.com/en/global/corporate/who-we-are/our-brands/amoco.html). It's mostly regional stuff but those are my ideas. I may try to make one or two of these in the future as well as I want to challenge myself in making pumps.

@pclark06 I had Quik Trip and Speedway in mind, so I'm glad to see you have more in mind then me. Let me know what brands you plan to make so we don't duplicate.

These Kroger pumps are actually came out better then I thought they would. Obviously, I still need to do some work to the canopy.

Still going on giving some TLC to some of the pieces I liked to use in my cities. I'm currently into Pooty's stuff : Santa Monica Promenade ; it was made to be linear but I added some pieces to make it even more modular :

    TL-Pooty%20SantaMonica%20Promenade%20Day

    TL-Pooty%20SantaMonica%20Promenade%20nit

    TL-Pooty%20St-Monica%20Promenade%20Piece

The pieces with the building are functional CS $$. However, I apparently can't manage to make the other pieces to function only as ped paths... Perhaps someone might help ?
