    Update:

I've been receiving some feedbacks about the CN Tower, whether it's 1:1 scale. I put Gula's CN Tower next to it in order to give you an idea wbout the scale.

Prop snapping is not as I expected to be, I will put lights manually in asset editor and let you modify it by Judazzz's prop it up tool.

For the tower there's spec, alpha and illumination maps will be made. I don't know whether elevators are lit occasionally or there's a standard color for daily use.

Observation deck under restaurant are also rendered (just used leftover space on the texture map), if you move the camera up there, you can wiev your city from the inside tower. (Assuming I will make alphas correct)

Looks awesome! I do think that the lights are a little too "obvious" if you know what I mean. The light source is very visible, but I don't know if there's a way to fix that. Great job, either way!

    Good evening:

I finished a long-time waiting asset today; the first double decker tram of CS (AFAIK, so something new); RailWhale.

It is faster than existing trams and can carry as double as GT6, which is 410 passengers by default.

besides from these beautiful trams, I would love to see several stadiums, such as Madison Square Garden, and Wrigley Field!

That tram sure is something. Is it based off of anything?

Also, what's that station (or pedestrian overpass) that I see in the right corner of one of the pictures?

From the screenshots, it seems like the tram has no pantograph. Is this on purpose?

When do we get underground tram stations? CO pls.

It's median train station which I didn't release. It has some height issues and i need to make it longer for 200m long trains, currently it's long enough to accept default sized trains. I use it on the space between highways.

The actual model is on the work of a Polish industrial designer.

Tram doesn't have pantograph. Normally it should be using 3rd rail but we don't have on CS, so "imagine" it as it's working with hydrogen or something lol

Meanwhile, I released more variants for RailWhale; as seen below. You can access the entire collection here:

    http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=856917453

    In the pack you will find;

6 car version for VECTOR, CLASSIC, MAPLE models,

3 car version for VECTOR and

    CLASSIC prop pack.

Living in a tram based city (Melbourne Australia) I often conceptualise double decker  trams like this as I'm trying to force myself into an over crowded one. Especially as I catch the St Kilda light rail where these would work even better then the high capacity trams we use. To make the most of these we need to convince the great folks doing additional public transport work to do underground tram stops. So these could run as pre-metro's in the city to light rail to tram. If there was a way to connect underground pedestrian paths to underground tram stations it would be a city planners dream.

On another note here is a screen shot of the current layout of my new city using two of your Toronto stations back to back. I have not checked if the underground pedestrian paths link yet as I am doing all the initial work to create a city so large I will keep building until my computer shits itself. This is my recording studio computer which is maxed out for music (tax) purposes but really for this game. So I'm hoping I can go really big  with high graphics.

Three main lines plus a high speed line, suburban lines following each main line. Two of the main lines do a loop to increase capacity. The high speed line and the southern line terminate at the harbour station in the background, was industrial back in the day now is rezoned for hyper-metropolis (with lots of dredging creating new land mass). All intercity trains are your Twindexx. You can see the start of lay-ups and the maintenance yards are just out of picture. I must admit the reason I have kept bugging you for props is so I can make train yards. I grew up as a graffiti artist. I spent so much of my teenage years studying yards (to find weakness and go and paint them). Now I can only do walls. So I get that out through this game. Anyway thank you for your amazing work. You and others do the expansion pack work I'd always hoped for and I'm much happier paying you guys for the content you do. I can't believe it was only 2 years ago I was on this forum downloading content for Simcity dreaming of everything this city building engine has become.

That doesn't really make sense, though, does it? In real life, there is only one or two tram systems that use a third rail, and they use a special type where the electric rail is only active when a tram is on top of it. A traditional third rail cannot be used for trams since it would block the path of cars in intersections, and it would present a huge shock hazard.

I'll probably use this tram anyway, since it looks so cool. I still think it would be cooler with a pantograph, though...

Truth to be told, it's a concept tram. Actual drawings doesn't have any pantograph so my assumption is the fact that it's using a sort of a 3rd rail. Otherwise it's either working with a battery or a hybrid engine. It's made by a designer, not an engineer mind you (insert my engineer smug face here)

Drawings doesn't say anything about the engine, they are only interior shots and how exterior looks like. In Switzerland we are testing a new system of electrification; (it's my university developing it), we put a beam and recharge system on top of the bus. Each time the bus stops, the beam extends from the top and makes contact with extension arm placed on top of the each station. In 10 seconds, thanks to rapid charge, battery pack renews enough juice until the next station (otherwise it uses backup batteries), the process continues on each stop, within 10 seconds of interval.

No 3rd rail, nor any catenaries or additional cables needed. When the bus reaches its terminus station, it charges all its battery at full capacity.

    http://www.thelocal.ch/20130421/geneva-unveils-electric-bus-without-overhead-wires

    This is the project.

Looks really cool. Did you take the 4-car model from official source? Because the middle section of this tram has non-rotating bogie. So you can't just connect two such sections together with one-pivoted connection - such tram wouldn't fit any curve and will derail. If you want to connect two non-rotating bogies you have to connect them with two pivot points. Often it is implemented with a suspended car section and odd number of sections.

    Yes, sort of.

Original model is not 4 car, so I improvised the last car. The section which has 4 doors comes from the original design, the one which has 2 doors is my addition.

The model which can be said "exact replicate" is the 3 car version

    The Roadmap for 2017

    Bonjour,

It's been some time no posting, so I'd like to dicuss upcoming stuff from my end. Currently I'm working on two projects, which one of them is the main focus.

    1. Modular Train Station/Modular Transit Hub (MTH) (May-June)

I am not sure what to name it FTM, on the paper it's the new version of Grand Central.

    It is a fully modular underground/sunken train station. When I say modular, I mean it, because you will have 4 different variants of extension on the fly. (4 different buildings) The station will be composed of a commercial and/or office towers on the wings. The rest is allocated to transportation;

    • 1. Underground cargo extension (Now I need to find a station track for it)
    • 2. Regular Train Stop
    • 3. MOM Stop
    • 4. Monorail Stop
    • 5. Metro Connections (addition to MOM)
    • *. Maybe tram stop with same style

Regular Train Stops will come with 4 variants of stops, MOM will feature 2 variants. Monorail needs a different work, but since I don't know dimensions of the tracks and whether the track can be "grounded" it will come. (So you will get 1 main building + 6 station variants (exc. monorail) + end module)

4 different variants of extension "styles" are; 1. Regular closed roof (which the interior is invisible), 2. Wave roof 3. Open Roof (only the support structure will be visible), 4. Abstract (this will have 2 train tracks)

    Pictures can be seen below:

    Rest of the pictures:

    2. Firefly Altrans (August)

This is the train from movie/series Firefly. I'm modeling by a request. The project is scheduled to release by sometime in summer, since it will be a complex work, I don't want to rush it.

    3. Monorail Assets (July)

I will also release a monorail in time, I finished its drawings on the paper, will model it on blender sometime in April, right after MTH. Aside that one, one existing asset will be implemented as monorail in future, assuming no-one will do it by then.

I will try to finish them all before September before the next academic year.

He's using the "Render View" (which can be found in the menu with the Wireframe, Texture, Solid, etc. views). At least, that's what I'm assuming you're asking.

I would suggest to put the holes away adding elevators, planters and places to rest/stay. Also stairs usually require a flat place after every dozen of steps or so. Or are these escalators?

There will be two sided elevators on these holes actually (assuming what you meant ?). About stairs (escalators acutally yes), I'm planning to model them as ramps, modeling the actual escalators (with all these steps) is killing the triss count.

I will "simulate" steps looking with normals and on texturing

@R3V0 So many elevators? Well ok :)

About stairs I meant a flat section like on this picture, not individual steps

But since those are escalators, then never mind ;)

Well each platform is independant from others and without elevators handicapped or wheel access would be impossible, thus MOAAARRR elevators

I'll keep that picture though, might come in handy sometime lol, nice stairs they are
