The "Thank you" thread !!

These last days I've been ranting a bit about the problems in the STEX... and the problems with some of the content in it (broken stuff, not correctly described stuff, confusing to install stuff, etc etc...)

But here is a topic to say a big thank you for what exists and what is done right.

So... thanks for all who made this huge, long lasting goldmine of things to add to SC4 !!!! Thanks to all the guys who moderate the stex, maintain the site and make things work.

And thanks to all the batters who make efforts so that what they create is easily usable and perfect.

In no particular order I will thank Madhatter, Jasoncw, Bixel, Nofunk (I couldn't find one thing they released that made me hesitate about one single point when installing). It is such a pleasure to be able to use so well made bats.

Of course they are not the only ones, maybe the more visible because of the quantity of their work too.

Feel free to add names to this list.

Oh... and (but it should be in the general discussion forum) thanks to the sc4 players who take time to help others when they're stuck or lack info about something.

Without the incredible (and possibly unique) talents of RippleJet, Barby, Jeronij, and the many others who helped create and maintain the BSC and, by extension, SC4Devotion, this community would not have gotten as far as it has. Their tireless, maniacal labours ensured a vast listing of functional, reliable dependencies and lots. They provided research into dozens of SimCity 4 bugs and ways to work around them.

More so, no SC4Devotion, no DatPacker and SC4PIM. No improved Gmax scripts and the like. The level of quality now achievable would still be impossible.

Frankly, I could go on and on. From my personal favorite batter, DuskTrooper, to Tarkus who exemplifies dedication and focus, there is no quick end to the list of people I could thank for the many years of enjoyment I've gotten out of the game.

Oh Jeronij !!!!!! Yeah his roadside parking mod is awesome (although I prefer Andreas SFBT street tree mod version, which gives more control...)

Yep, SC4D is awesome for dependencies (even if many of us do not like them, at some point you have no choice ;) )

Jeronij is, if I recall, the owner of SC4Devotion. Along with being one of the first batters for the game, one of the first modders, one of the first researchers...

I'm not sure a Gunpei Yokoi comparison is apt, given how many people were involved in the community's success, but he ticks several of the boxes.

So few know who the man was, let alone how critically important he was to all of gaming. What a deeply disappointing state of circumstances to be in.

At least you are on the road to enlightenment, Cool.

The idea of a public thank you is a lot of good even because would provide a source of research for recent users but just to clarify what you want this list to contain ...

We are only talking about of content creators (BAT & Mod) or of all the persons  that made possible the changes that made the game have evolved to what it is today?

For B.A.T. not forget to SimGoober by your  interest in early days and also for greater difficulties than just delivery of single rendering models via editors.

    for example....

( okay ... :]I admit my fondness for animation but  can not fail to recognize the effort for all their extensive work! )

I'm do believe Cool's intent was to thank any and everyone who's had a hand in making this game as long-lasting as it has been. As to the subject of SimGoober, well, his buildings make up half of any given city of mine...

He did everything, and was very likely the most prolific content creator for the game. Houses, businesses, skyscrapers, parks, industrials, utilities, oddballs. Simgoober was, as you've pointed out, a trailblazer in making large animations viable.

So true! I always like it to see one of SimGoober's creations grow in my cities... :)
Well, dont' get me wrong here,  I personally appreciate every custom made building that grows in my cities, because I know about the hard work to create/modify one.

Thank you all! You all make this old game still worth playing!

    Kind regards!
