Unbelievable, but I am downloading this right now.  This may be the nicest present I've ever gotten from the Internet.  Thanks everyone for the outstanding work.  I think I might just leave installation for tomorrow when my laundry is running.

For one moment I was wondering why NAM 34 was being advertised, then I looked again... NAM 34. That is some speedy work giving how NAM 33 was released about a month ago.

Dear sir/madam/whoever will read this!

This profile is now defunct.

Computer problems and issues with accessing my Imageshack account meant My SC4 CJ Scrapbook was lost and utterly irretrievable. This setback put me off SC4 for many months.

Apologies for the inconvenience and for the lost pictures.

But that SC4 itch did not go away and it had to be scratched! I have started afresh with a new account here- The British Sausage

The URS is a spiritual successor to the SC4 CJ Scrapbook.

With this update this will be the last time I visit my original Simtropolis account- admin/mods feel free to remove it or do whatever you need to do. I have no further use for the Ln X (BLANKBLANK) account.

Whatever else happened in this release, my biggest city with over 1,000,000 Sims and absolutely chock-a-block with other objects (very little unzoned land at all) has stabilized as is now runnable.  Previously it ran away on a down/right scroll and could not be corrected.  I was saving it for when (if) I got a new machine, but today's test worked perfectly.

Click the NAM tutorials link in my sig... I've uploaded a special showing the new NAM 34 content including MRCs. That said, the R1-R3 curves use the same pattern as the RHW MRCs, so you may only need to know about the R4.

One comment I do have is that the hyperlinks in the "Note On Current State of Documentation" PDF packaged with the NAM don't seem to exist - for the SC4 Encyclopaedia and the NAM support forum.  They only show up as blue underlined text for me (in Preview 8.1 on OS X 10.11.2).  It's not a big deal for me as I know where to find them but it may be an inconvenience to others.

Oh yeah, you're right. Those hyperlinks aren't there for me either, on Adobe Reader on Windows 7. You should fix that...

I did check on this, the option for asphalt textures is checked.  Perhaps a load order problem.

What is the name of the file?  I will move it to load last.

The file for the asphalt MHW textures can be found in z__NAM/Road Textures/zzz_MHW_Retexture.X.dat, where X depends on US or Euro.

Question on SITAP: Will the intersections support the T21s from traffic light mods or do the new OWR intersections generate standard SC4 traffic lights at each intersection? Just wondering...

Most stoplight T21 mods have their own T21s that override the Maxis/NAM ones with new props. Therefore without new modified T21s, in such cases no, they won't.

However, if your stoplight mod merely overrides the original stoplight models, then yes they will show. To be honest, I've never seen a stoplight mod that didn't use the first method. For example Marteen's SRM uses multiple props for more varied and accurate lights, it wouldn't have worked as a prop override. I do plan to update my set, UK LHD, to support them, but seeing as you are from the USA, I'm guess that won't be much use to you.

@A Nonny Moose Did you check if the file works? It won't have been updated any time recently I suspect. I don't have MHW in a NAM 34 environment right now to check it easily myself.

I would love to have the updated UK LHD stoplight mod. In fact, I was wondering if we would ever find an update that could work with the NAM releases as they progress.

If you had looked at the previous post you would have seen that it doesn't work, which is why I asked about the date.  It is either the wrong file or it needs to be reordered with respect to loading.  In either case, it is an error in the distribution.

Because of this one evidence of something wrong with the installer, I am inclined to remove NAM entirely and reinstall it using the custom install, which is what I had to do with NAM34.  Of course, if the wrong file is in the distribution, then this won't help.

If it's a load order issue we just need to fix the installer scripts. But if the file simply doesn't work, then the problem would need looking into further.

You mentioned you would try loading it last, but it's not clear to me if you did try this or what the results were. If it's not too much of an imposition, it would help if you could confirm this please?

Well, I was hoping someone else has tested this but ....

Just forced the file to be dead last in loading.  No change.

Very retired old computer geeks like me just want things to work.  My days of bug stamping are long gone.

I'll see if I can locate the problem then, personally I've not used MHW since NAM 32 when I switched to the MHO.

:Update:

The file "zzzMHW_Retexture_America.dat" when installed in "z___NAM\Road Textures" during a custom install is working fine for me.

What install option did you originally use? Could it be that you have another mod loading after this that effects the textures?

Where was the file located when it was set to load last?

A bit of a longshot, but it may be worth downloading the retexture mod directly from the STEX and placing it in a folder entitled "z____MHW_Retexture".

I am attaching the tree structure of my plugins, but only the end of it show the z____NAM section onwards.  Things have kind of build up in that area over the years I've been playing.  There was no better result.  The last modified date on the file is in April.  Oh, I reinstalled in from the distribution back (deleted it first) and that's what I got.

I use the SRM and no, the generic Maxis lights pop up.  Where I'm from, no two traffic lights are the same anyway so it really doesn't bother me.

I believe the game would load " ZZZZZ_____NAMtest " before "Z___NAM", as underscores are loaded afterwards. Try renaming " ZZZZZ_____NAMtest " to "Z_____NAMtest", ensuring there are more underscores in the directory name.

Indeed, new T21s would need to be made as these IDs didn't exist until NAM 34. That said, the patterns should be something that can be copied from originals, updating one set would be quite simple. Updating all of Marteen's sets, well let's just say Marteen made some super-human efforts in terms of the content and variety of mods he developed.

Absolutely, such setups haven't worked since NAM 31/30 I believe. Everything that needs to load after the Network Addon Mod will work in folders with many Z's. However, if you need to load anything after the z___NAM folder, you must use a prefix with at least four underscores directly after the z. Many people falsely believe a number of mods stopped working, simply because they aren't loading in the correct order.

To my knowledge there has been no updates for Maxis Highway for quite some time. I also wouldn't expect there to be in future. The file is the same date as my working copy, it's not indicative of a problem.

I've run out of ideas on this one.  The texturing is not working, and since I didn't check before it may not have been working on NAM33 either.  With the texturing file loading dead last, I am at my wit's end on this.  I think that later today I am going to remove the NAM entirely and install it from scratch.

1.  I deleted with no recovery all of the NAM directories including the one I added for debugging

Sorry but I'm not able to replicate the problem:

I'm using the released NAM 34 installer, using a custom install. The file itself works just fine, and from initial checks there is no duplication of the file in the installer package. I've not had to move anything from the default locations either.

This to me looks like a conflict, a test with only the NAM installed in a blank region is probably the next thing to do. I'm really at a loss to explain this behaviour otherwise. Perhaps Alex or another NAM member,  with more intimate knowledge can think of something I can not?

Well, it is easy to try that test, so I'll give it a whirl.  If it is a conflict, I'll probably try SC4DataNode to track it down.  So, off to the sandbox.

My test didn't work.  I think I am going to try a reinstall of the game.

Did a reinstall (uninstall first, keeping data).  No improvement.  One thing I did do when I installed this version is that I added several train stations.  I wonder if it could be one of them?  I see some of them are still in raw state (not .dat).

Before you reinstall the game (it seems to me this might not be desirable) a thought occurs.

Could your Linux/Wine setup be interpreting the underscore in a different manner to Windows? Thus in reality such folders are not loading in the expected order?

Try renaming all your folders (subfolders should be unnecessary) with numbers as prefixes. 001, 002, 003 etc. Ensure no underscores or other characters are used, so 010NAM and 011zNAM for example. Try this with the highest number containing the affected file to be sure. If there is a different load order, it would likely affect the z___NAM folder more than anything.
