@andreharv If you want I can pick up those suburban and cobble roads, it's just been a long while since I worked on those...

Or perhaps if you have other new ideas?

cobbled streets and mono block streets would be a fantastic addition especially for those of us building european cities.

Not really exactly seeing the difference between this and the vanilla highway though.

Yea, same here. Looks like something you can do with the vanilla highway, especially combined with 'Move-It.'

I suppose it might be a dual highway so we won't have to create parallels

So much cool stuff planned and in the works! :D This mod has to be one of the most essential ones for me - if I have to play without I keep missing the extra road types. :)

If you ever get bored or run out of ideas I've got one type of road I still kinda miss in the game. A 2 lane one way road with no parking and a bike lane on the right to make roundabouts with. The default one way lets cars park there and the grassy one doesn't always look great. While the 2 lane highway can also do the trick I hate the signs it adds (and the crazy speeds the drivers take - it isn't safe!). It's a minor thing, but prob the only type of road I find myself missing in the game these days thanks to this awesome mod :thumb:

There are so many people requesting existing roads without parking.  I will probably end up making it a network skin style option instead of duplicating all the roads.

As far as the Divided highway, I had the idea for it well before Move It! and now that it is out, it makes home made divided highways pretty easy.  IDK...Probably, like the parking option I mentioned, the divided highway may be nothing more than an some kind of option to restrict left turns on existing roads and maybe place some kind of faux median where applicable.  At this point, I don't even know.

And these are also pretty awesome, especially the 2 lane road with median.

Well, everything you wrote was awesome, but these things are awesome-er.

@baduncansd Yeah you're right, they are basically reskins of regular 2L and alley roads.

@andreharv There's still this one which could be added to complement 2LTL:

I believe the idea, if we are using the term the same way, is to reduce the amount of manual work that we have to put in when we want a highway that is divided in the middle.  Quality of life improvement...

Well, that would be even better! Would be so lovely to be able to turn parking off for some sections of roads. :D

@andreharv Would it be possible to do this with bike or bus lanes on roads?  The idea would be to reduce the number of roads to choose from and add missing functionality such as 2 lane one way roads with trees and a bike lane, grass with bike lane, etc.

Yeah those too.  I am not honoring any of those requests individually.  There will have to be an interactive option.  At the end of the day I would like a GUI that allows players to literally set the options they want and a road come up.  Honestly, there are so many options that some people would rather just look the road up in the menu and only use a GUI to get something specific.  Honestly, I could start something like that now.  The options that aren't implemented yet or are not possible would be grayed out.  This GUI would also support custom bridges as well so content creators could include custom bridge/pillar assets to be used for any of the NExt roads.  You didn't ask for any of this...Just thinking out loud.

Is there any way to make a road with single lane and parking on both sides? Like NYC streets?  @andreharv

I don't think so. The 1-tile roads are too narrow for that, and the 2-tile roads are much too wide.

@andreharv Looking great.  I know that Network Skins is better suited for brick and cobblestone roads, but I am fearful that the mod may be on pause, as Boformer has become less responsive on the forums.  Is there any way you could reconsider working with @GC_Vos to include them in NExt?

It does not seem like it would be a large leap from the amazing pedestrian paths you have created, but I won't pretend to understand the amount of effort that it would take to create and maintain.

BTW, there is no paypal link on the NExt page.  Is there any way we can show our appreciation for all of the work you guys (all of you) have done on this project?  This is not meant to be a bribe.  I am starting to go around to the modders and designers to show my appreciation.  What you guys do takes a lot of time and adds so much value to the game and we should know how much it is appreciated.

@baduncansd Thanks!  As far as your second paragraph, I assume you mean to say...in a nice way...that you don't see how the boardwalk is any different than the other paths I have already created.  This is a fair observation.  Repetition is not my style.  There are two niches (niches?) that this fills.  First, it connects seamless with the existing gravel ped road's elevated segments, which will be welcomed by those who only use the gravel ped road primarily for the elevated portion.  Second, and more interestingly, one thing not very visible in the picture is that the boardwalk is slightly elevated.  I will be playing around with exactly how elevated but on uneven terrain, the underside of the boardwalk will expose stilts.  So while it is mainly aesthetic differences it won't be limited to just the texture.

Sometimes I don't like the scale of assets created for CS. A lot of them are oversized. The same I feel about your boardwalks. They need to cut down every big tree they can find to get logs this big.

I wish you best luck if you try to implement the GUI. :)

Sorry, the paragraphing was a bit funky in my reply.  I was continuing from the first paragraph on road meshes and trying to tie in the perceived similarities between the boardwalk seamless skin and skinning roads with cobblestone or brick.  After your explanation, I see it is more than just meshes that you are toying with for the boardwalk.  I LOVE the photos of the boardwalk and can't wait to see these in game.  Cobblestone and brick roads are just something that keeps eluding the game and I thought this might be an opportunity.

Do you want me to provide photos of suburban roads? A good example is 34th Avenue in Magnolia, Seattle. They are 1 lane each way, with parking and huge parking strips (grass, garden, or tree area between road and sidewalk). Some cities have similar roads with tile/plaza instead of grass. These roads would have the capacity of 2-lane roads (but with parking remaining even with trees) but have the width of 4 or 6 lane roads.

For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit... But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually..." 1 Corinthians 4-11

Sadly, Boformer just confirmed that he may not come back to the game due to real life.  This means cobble stone roads will not make it into  Network Skins unless someone else picks it up and adds it...or it is added to NExt. ;)

With tram roads, is it possible to incorporate tram roads with MOM, so instead of trams, it's metro trains running on the tracks?
