I'm looking to get the agriculture in my tropical city to look a bit more fitting. The goal is to have seamless large fields, but I still want to keep going with growables. To achieve a uniform look, level 1 and level 2 growables should look mostly the same.

I guess Mr. Maison's bananas and coconuts are a good start. Coconuts have the advantage that the recommended planting distance in RL is pretty much exactly 8 meters, which fits this game perfectly.

From the top, it looks quite convincing (bananas to the left, medium coconut trees to the right):

The bananas need to become denser I would say. Recommended planting distances in RL are something between 2 and 4 meters, depending on variety, and I would say that Mr. Maison's bananas should work with doubling the number of plants, which would still allow for different lot sizes to work together seamlessly.

When I use the short coconut trees, the result looks very uniform:

Now I just have to learn how to do this properly. The template I used for the banana fields seems to not really want to grow, and I faked the building situation of the level 1 versions by shrinking the building (I guess that's not exactly how it's supposed to be done). I'll have some reading to do.

Next would be forestry. Rainbow gums would be the best fit, but I think the Mountain Ash will do as a good replacement.

Worked on two projects this morning in Capilano Islands, which will be part of the newest episode in the series.  First is an office park:

And second is the small water treatment facility:

Bi-directional experiment with road works

What i really demand is button in Traffic President: hide props of traffic lights

Then if you care about that there be only static instead dynamic traffic lights.

If you set interval correctly, i am sure that gonna be almost perfect. Of course this cannot be used in dense areas.

These screens are what i want as final result. I disabled timed traffic lights to hide them. (They are placed so bad by default - cannot change position)

What you think?

Hope you enjoy!

Added these builds to Capilano Islands in the latest episode.  First is an old factory campus:

And second was the Stonewall Inn, which was added to the existing main part of town:

EDIT 1.0 - added steam marker into red pipe (firstly used after 2000hrs of this game)

Your opinion? Has it tropical feeling enough? Do you see something really bad? Let me know!

Hope you enjoy :-)

Current vanilla work in progress is the cargo harbor infrastructure for Fairview Shores.  Each of these rail lines will service a different district in the future (they are not yet developed), and one rail line connects to generic industrial areas in the city.  The area surrounding this will have a small generic industry area as well.  Obviously the roads need some work yet, but it will get there.

I am currently working on my new City....well, more like a small tourist town. These are my first set of residences. By clipping buildings together using various mods, I'm able to get these bigger looking homes.

You can check how I put it all together: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=luMgUjN4URI&list=PL9puOci8h7qWNRek6k57EoIoA4-HeDYFo&index=5

Hi everyone,

Started making my first map several months ago and I'm at a point where I can start showing what I have been working on.

Video Preview #1

And a few screenies to further wet your appetite

There doesn't seem to be a Show Us Your Commercial Zone (or Mall) thread, so I'll put a few shots of my mall here.  I know that malls in general aren't doing so well, but maybe my community of Port Sanilac isn't yet populated with hipsters who eschew malls.

About all I should do if I have the patience is fill in more of the open spaces with trees and add wear & tear to the parking lots and other paved areas.  I should say that traffic was a nightmare with so much commercial space and employment, and the intersections that you can kind of see in one of the shots - when combined with bus service to reduce the need for cars - seem to have gotten things under control.

Sorry for double-post, the system doesn't seem to let me write and insert pictures at the same time. :/

Anyway, this is going to be my next Cathnoquey project - I prefer small island maps with smaller population because they're properly simulated that way and they're small towns that don't have massive infrastructure, and like a few other people I've picked the excellent Seenu map to build a little tropical country on (albeit with changes to the islands).

So, here's Miyakojima, loosely based on Okinawa Prefecture islands ^^' Albeit with less traffic than it should because I'd cleared all traffic before taking screenies. I'll write a CJ about it, at some point, when I'm done with the Dragon's Landing stuff. ^_^

A big challenge is try to balance the small, remote tropical island feel with more-or-less Japanese contemporary architecture, and hopefully come out with something more unique. A good thing about the map being one that's featured on Youtube is it's also easy to avoid the pitfalls, for instance how the Seenu maker eventually ran out of props... so while I'll detail, I'm still more interested in a nice general feel and a working simulation (and great roads) first ^^
